Think that is amazing try searching Caterham or Lotus 7. A car available in 1957 and still being produced today by Caterham and as a "replica" by over 35 other companies. Colin Chapman was a pioneer. Honda just made pretty good cars...

The guy with the WRX, is Eric Hsu. He worked with XS Engineering to build that car. He also was a Chief Engineer at A'PEXi. Now he is in charge of parts development at Cosworth. They are both completely different cars with a different style of build. like comparing and Ariel Atom to a Bugatti Veyron. And the loss was not due to driver skill. The losing driver was Keiichi Tsuchiya and the winning driver was Manabu Orido. Try doing a little research on these people before you try to talk shit.

You should be. The Honda requires more driver skill in order to clock a fast time out of it. The techniques that Orido used on the Civic are not necessary on the WRX. It has (compared to the WRX) low power, low torque, a peaky powerband, and FWD. Forcing the driver to work around these problems, All said the car is also insanely light and nimble with throttle response a turbo car could only dream of. Personally I am a fan of the Honda, (I own an S2000) but I think that was a good race.

we need to take the best tuned us cars to japan and see where we stand. that way we'll know how much we need to improve. but i'd say 10 years of tuning nothing but hondas for drag racing, USA probably has better honda engine tuning ability. this EG6 has best of both worlds. the tuners brilliant. it might be a good contender on the Gunsai Touge.

On the first corners is all about weight and on the last ones is all about traction and power. Since the impreza had slicks for this race and from the results shown, the civic is faster in this tight course. I dont think the problem the second time is Tsuchyas driving but because the impreza has 1400kg weight the tires and brakes overheated a bit early

Tsuchyia is quite an amazing driver, he did launch quite well btw, he purposely did that to dog out the civic in the lower RPMS. And at the power that both thoe cars are at, yes AWD would make a traction diff off of the line but not enough for a 4 car lead. To be honest you really have to give props to the civic, that race was quite slanted on the WRX's side, it had racing slicks, was tuned quite a bit more, and I would be safe to bet more money dumped into it.

Youtube any vid with a STI or WRX in a drag race at the strip or at the track. Even stock STI's and WRX's absolutely just RIP out of the hole. Be it a turbo civic/supra/z06, even these stock cars can put a few car lengths on them just from pure brutal immediate grip, but of course after that, cars like the z06 will pull after 60.

do u guys realise that HP is not everything. Hondas rev alot higher and have power all the way through their high rev range. They are also better balanced and have stiffer chassis. This makes them excellent in these conditions. Drag is a different matter but not for touge. Im actually surprised the wrx did so well as touge is usually not suited for awds.
