The RMAF really like F-18C/D Hornet better than Mig-29. The past decade F-18C/D have done very well on air performance, air combat, & air to ground. Also F-18E/F Super Hornet will help RMAF a powerful air force in the region. There is no report that RMAF is interesting the Mig-35. The RMAF have FX-2 program fighter of F-18E/F Super Hornet Block 2, F-16, & JAS 39 Gripen. Also RMAF look for AWACS the completion are E-2D & Embraer ERJ-145 AEW. E-2D mostly the winner it is new.

Royal Malaysian Air Force is retiring the Mig-29N Fulcrum since last May. Right now RMAF is looking for new interceptor fighter plane to take Mig-29 places. You RMAF should buy F-18E/F Super Hornet Block II. The Super Hornet is good at Air to Air and Air to ground. The Mig-29N Fulcrum only good at Air to Air not air to ground. Also I heard that Russia is offering Su-35 Super Flanker to RMAF.
There has been quite a number of discussions regarding this, and for now there's no talks about RMAF considering another Russian aircraft as a replacement (pity, I thought the MiG-35 would be a close candidate) and is now looking into planes from your country, the UK, Sweden and France.

it also has an AESA radar, the Zhuk-AE. the new version of L-band Zhuk-AE can detect 60 stealth planes from 200km and engage 12 at once. can the F-35/F-22 AN/APG81 do that? NO obviously.

The RMAF really like F-18C/D Hornet better than Mig-29. The past decade F-18C/D have done very well on air performance, air combat, & air to ground. Also F-18E/F Super Hornet will help RMAF a powerful air force in the region. There is no report that RMAF is interesting the Mig-35. The RMAF have FX-2 program fighter of F-18E/F Super Hornet Block 2, F-16, & JAS 39 Gripen. Also RMAF look for AWACS the completion are E-2D & Embraer ERJ-145 AEW. E-2D mostly the winner it is new.

but F/A-18E for RMAF would be pretty cool. although MiG-35 is better..
for the AWACS, nah, the EMB-145 AEW&C with the new generation LRDE made AESA radar is better lol. but the E-2D's radar system is pretty good :) i'd have both loool.

Also seeing RMAF with Su-30MKM, F-18E/F Super Hornet, & E-2D Advance Hawkeye will be cool. Also the Russian is exporting the IRBIS-E to Algeria, India, & Malaysia it is X-band radar. Also the Russian could supply the OLS-35, KS-172, RVV-SD, & RVV-MD. Things could better if F-18E/F Super Hornet use APG-82 v 1 which combine the match of front/back antenna of APG-63 v 3 & APG-79. Also able the F-18E/F to carry AIM-120D & AIM-9X Block 2.

@USAAIRPOWER i would be happy to see RMAF upgrading the Su-30MKM's glass cockpit and radar to the one used in Su-35BM xD (i love the Irbis-E lol).
but it would be tons better if the engine switched to the AL-41F, higher percentage usage of composites in the body, lol (lighter, stealthier :D ), and uses the N050 PAK FA AESA radar lolol (as far as i know, the Tikhomirov N050 is just a modified Tikhomirov Irbis-E with AESA antenna module and uses L-band wave.) lol dreaming xD

and the R-77 also can use the host's aircraft radar and optical sensing system if the R-77 fails to track it..
the F-22 may be invisible on radar..but not on digital light/optical camera sensing on most russian aircraft..

i know, HESA Azarakhsh and HESA Saeqeh-80, both of them were modified F-5E's but have the same capability as a F/A-18 and has range of 3,000km..for comparison the RMAF/IAF Su-30MKM/MKI has 5,500km range (internal fuel tank only) and
F-22 has 2,960km range with 2 external fuel tanks.

The reason why the MiG-29 was bought alongside from the Hornets' package is because of that very reason you said, and even with that the Yanks had a policy of sales restriction of weaponry with newer technology like the AMRAAM at that time. Royal Malaysian Air Force is retiring the Mig-29N Fulcrum since last May. Right now RMAF is looking for new interceptor fighter plane to take Mig-29 places. You RMAF should buy F-18E/F Super Hornet Block II. The Super Hornet is good at Air to Air and Air to ground. The Mig-29N Fulcrum only good at Air to Air not air to ground. Also I heard that Russia is offering Su-35 Super Flanker to RMAF.

I don't think RMAF would want the Mig-35. Algeria didn't like the Mig-29SMT because it suck at Air to ground target. They send Mig-29SMT back to Russia for a trade for Su-30. The F-18E/F Super Hornet is good enough for RMAF!

Mig-35 sucks! Mig-35 is just as useless as Mig-29. In dogfight the Mig-35 wouldn't stand a chance against F-22 Raptor. F-22 Raptor would shot down Mig-35 easily so Too bad. @USAAIRPOWER wrong, it may looked ugly but it has the capability to detect stealth planes w/ RCS of 0.001m^2 (F-22/F-35) and fight them. it has 3D TVC nozzles, F-22 is 2D, F-35 TVC only for VSTOL. so the MiG is more maneuverable.
it also has an AESA radar, the Zhuk-AE. the new version of L-band Zhuk-AE can detect 60 stealth planes from 200km and engage 12 at once. can the F-35/F-22 AN/APG81 do that? NO obviously.
also,the -35 uses open architecture,you can just mix w/ western avionics. oh yeah

Malaysia should keep do aircraft contract with Russia because Singapore and Russian are not good with each other and i think Malaysia closest threat is Singapore. They also have good relationship with Israel. Israel are closest to America and Malaysia's F/A 18 cant aim other F/A 18 but Singapore's F/A 18 can plus I dont think that's a System Upgrade
Russia are better to comply with they even have good relation with Iraq

Thrust / weight of 1.13 and the best and only fighter jet that can perform tailstands, In jet fights who is behind have the advantage and if u able to do tailstand quickly and climb up and then go back to original altitude you can get the chaser advantage.... some technique i know..
