rally cross,lost mines(circuit en 8)

Man, I loved this game. Was my first game for my Playstation, aside from the demo disc. Why did Rally Cross 2 screw up the driving physics? I tried playing RC2 recently and it's like you are able to turn on a dime, plus the graphics seemed worse. Like, driving over water/mud didn't produce splashes, while the first game did. WTF?

I think I remeber having played this game at a friends house... Isn't this where if the car landed on its roof you have to swing it back by hitting the shoulder buttons in a certain rhythm?
