  • This is the ultimate drinking song.

  • When I was watching White Collar Neal and June started to sing this song! First my jaw dropped at how amazing they singed it together and what justice they did for such a great song, then after I got over the shock a huge smile just lit up on my face. :D Whenever I need something to cheer me up I just go to that scene and watch it over and over.

  • Damn Right There's NO DIS-Likes ! !

  • The entire lp is outstanding "Only the Lonely"! Sinatra at his best!!

  • Thanks for posting this. There will never be another

  • "If you want happiness for an hour -- take a nap. If you want happiness for a day -- go fishing. If you want happiness for a month -- get married. If you want happiness for a year -- inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime -- help someone else." Chinese Proverb

  • This recording is exquisite...Capital Records in the early 60's w/the Nelson Riddle Orchestra--wow, simply superb.

  • Wow. Listening to this and then thinking of Boone's story... that's depressing. D:

Oh, and I really do love this song. It's so nice, and sad, but so... true.

  • Some might disagree with me, but I personally think Bette Midler sang this the best. Love Sinatra to death don't get me wrong, but Bette Midler captured the mood of this song terrifically when she sang it to Johnny Carson, and her version sticks into my mind and into my heart a lot more.

  • @photojean1 couldn't agree with you more.

  • This is my favorite version of the song. The atmosphere created by the piano player and the orchestra gave to Frank exactly what he needs to sing the way he did: Unforgettable! Me as a singer and musician I can tell you that was the good time. Long life to the long playings, to the studios of just 2 canals stereo. There was a soul. And what a record and with no dought very far the best record of his.

  • IMHO this song, more than any other, puts his amazing voice on display. Soft, smooth and pure.

  • for real though, i fuck with Sinatra

  • Just the way this song sounds, and how Sinatra sings it, you can picture what the bar must look and even smell like! Flickering plastic signs promoting brands of beer, posters of sporting events, a jukebox with cigarette burns on the plastic, amid the fragrance of cigarettes, cigars, cheap spirits, stale beer and peanut shells.

  • This recording is undoubtedly the very top of the cream of a very large crop

  • Undoubtedly the very top of the cream of a very large crop

  • @photojean1 In this recording, Bill Miller is featured on the piano. The arrangement is by Nelson Riddle and (I believe) recorded 6/26/1958. Very nice!

  • @photojean1 Who else? Jesus H Christ it is Bill Miller. If you have to ask who the piano player for this is, God help you.

  • Perfection.

  • Recorded when his voice was at its peek, this song is to me one of his all time best. Listen to this and you know why he was concidered one of the top vocalist of his era, and his music has withstood the test of time.

  • This is the best interpretation/cover of this classic--'just' a piano and the most beautiful phrasing/interpretation of any singer around--Frank Sinatra.

  • @photojean1 The piano player was Bill Miller, who was Sinatra's accompanist for many years. See the info above.

  • This song is just amazing. *sigh*

  • does any body know of any other singers who covered this number ?

  • @Runrome Yes, Perry Como, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Etta James, and Julie London all recorded it.

  • @catman916 and robbie williams did

  • THE VOICE makes me dream since I was a very young girl. Great!

  • この曲は 全ての歌曲の中で最高です。ありがとう。

  • The best interpreted by the best.

  • The best recorded song of the 20th century. It has no peer.

  • Frank SInatra once told a story along these lines: He had gone to a bar and was chatting with the bartender. He told Frank that there was a customer one night who had been drowning his sorrows in whiskey and listening to Sinatra on the jukebox. The patron finally gestured with his thumb to the jukebox and asked the bartender, "Who do you think HE listens to?"

  • With this kind of music it almost feels good to be sad

  • @PekskeCroma

and Very Glad to be Unhappy

  • @PekskeCroma - here here! Perfectly stated sentiment that goes to my heart.
