  • Also, Mrs. Macdonald should really be using a saw to cut the tree into logs. An axe is only good for splitting logs into fire-sized chunks.

  • Of course the cat used a gun. Don't be ridiculous.

  • Old MacDonald was out of sync...

  • Old Mac had real swing! Thumbs up if you agree!

  • Great video. Love it. The sound is a little out of synch tho.

  • Back then, they had awsome drugs ...

  • Old McDonald had swing - E, I, E, I - O!!

  • Why did that boy stand still with his arms cross?

  • Because he doesn't want to be there, he wants to go play.

  • This is the first time I can remember ever seeing this video (and I've seen a LOT of Disney cartoons!) and I loved it! The animation is great, the song is very upbeat and I found myelf tapping my toes throughout the whole picture! Who cares what its meaning is? It's a great cartoon!

  • The boy is a little stubborn.

  • wow.. what does the endiing mean? it s not ok to rock or what?

    it sounds like manipulation

  • it means not to be a total dead beat and alow others to go on working while you do nothign but play piano. Its not saying you cant have fun or play music just in appropriate times.

  • yeah well, what happens if piano(or any other instrument for that matter) is your life? if the thing that you re good at is music then why not?

anyway, i guess this is another matter, probably disney didn t go for this.

    but still

  • no need to get all defensive. it was just what they are getting at, and its OBVIOUS if they work on a farm and own one it takes more than just rockin on an instrument all day to keep it going. he shouldnt have a farm that takes a lot mroe work than playing an instrument.

  • @CatBonner13 He fed the chickens at least.

  • the music is not synced :C

  • There's lots of reused animation.

  • @PunkyBear36 You are right, I know the girl and boy dancing appear in other cartoons frame for frame

  • @PunkyBear36 The dancing girl and boy are in other cartoons

  • The House that Jack Built? Jack Benny?

  • the Coolest version of Old Mcdonald songs!! damn Good!

  • I hate the wife and the son. They obviously don't appreciate good music. Hmmph!

  • @RiceKrispyPug well, it starts to gt annoying after the first 3 minutes!

  • @RiceKrispyPug They'd probably love the Disney Channel pop that's being shoved down our throats.

  • pretty cool. choice of background was bothering me though

  • This film was made in the fifties when the predominate zeitgeist in design was determined by the abstract and modernism movements in art. What you're seeing are reflections of what was considered new and hip, and at the forefront of the fashion, design, and art vanguard at the time.

  • Old McDonald Had A Band is taken from DSAS: Fun With Music.

  • @hersheyandshadow Actually, this was it's original version. Fun With Music took it from this.

  • hahah the goat the trumpet and it kept playing man this brings back many good memories

  • That wife was itching to use that axe on him, but as it's a Disney cartoon...

  • I remember seeing this neat song on the Disney Channel from my younger days. And I liked how the wife walked passed by all those performing animals and people to whack her non-busy husband.

  • wow!

  • Wonderful music and great cartoon.

  • The wife ain't the only one displeased, the smallest son is, too.

  • JACK PARR!!! You kid us NOT? He is one of the ANIMATORS, Mr.CREDIT man?!

  • Very very U.P.A. influenced - shows how fresh and revolutionary UPA was in its heyday - before the style degenerated into the limited animation of television productions.

  • I used to have this on VHS in the early '90s.

I haven't seen this video since then! Thanks for posting!

  • Where can you get these songs on CD? Man, WHAT FUN!

  • Kinnis228, I can only say that I agree with you! This is kind of like Ham and Hattie, the influence (UPA))'s then current (two-theme) series.

  • I like the Famous Studios adapation of the song better, and yes, Old MacDonald has a band in the cartoon I'm talking about.

  • Awesome post, lpmangas!!!! Brings back to me some priceless and beautiful memories from my childhood. Here and a *pling pling*, there and a *pling pling*, here *pling*, there *pling* and everywhere a *pling pling*. Old Mc Donald had a band, ia ia ooo.
