im not a fan of her work but im not going to say "see kids you dont need talent to be an artist" or "see fully original, apart from the images; they're all copied. and the text is mainly cliche's..."
no. not going to say that at all.
but seriously dont think of me as a hater, im just not a fan of specifically conceptual work
well motherfucker, the song is comercial, but, what kind of music do you preffer for a documental video. Please, is just idioteque, by radiohead. maybe you are a poser and you just watch art because you are no one and you like what you are supousted to like.
I have voted this comment up for one reason. Simply to say, shove it UP your butt! Art is something that is different to each person, and you should appreciate that. Especially since the tone of your message implies that you are somewhat interested in artwork. Oh, and by the way, its spelled s-u-p-p-o-s-e-d. Fucking go back to school and get an education.
By combining two simple elements: photography and text. Kruger is able to create such poignant commentaries on society. It is art like this that creates the strongest reaction in people, in my humble opinion, because it really makes you think. Please feel free to follow me on twitter: ArtNY. I comment on the art scene in NYC.
Wow, she is truely amazing and inspiring! Luv it! My favourite is definately 'we are not what we seem' where the lady apears to be placing a large unpleasant lense into her eye. Intresting... also, 'We dont need another hero' Thx for posting this!
I would buy it and its actually realy meaningfull, if you cant see it, thats your problem. The color would ruin it and the whole theme is the black white and red. Reds the problem and the black and white is the dullness of what the culture presents to her. Shes very much about for womans rights and political correctness. Maybe stick with Picasso if you want color?
the way in which she uses her colors are one of the many reasons why her work is so famous.
and maybe you did study art for seven years (which apparently did nothing to you) but i dont see your art work selling for thousands of dollars and displayed everywhere from stores to everyday buses. Her work is powerful and its so sad it had no effect on you.
I don't know, I find that black and white photography holds a lot more power than those of colour. Personal preference.
However, just because you've studied art for several years does not make you an art critic, or an artist. It most certainly does not give you the right to crudely dismiss the work of others.
Sorry but it didn't sound like you new anything about art, atleast photography anyway. Seen as how you're making stupid statements about colour, which would have totally changed the context of the work.
And I'm not writing an essay so spelling not so important, where as if your in the art profession you may have a problem.
P.S I know I sound like I'm disrespecting you, but that's just because it sounds better. I respect your opinion just don't agree with it.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Barbara Kruger on how to make art:
Take an image, put white text with a red background on it. Make sure it says something about feminism.
I'm glad to see so many whiny feminists run to her defense the minute somebody reveals her artwork for what it truly is: a waste of time

*studied art for seven years, sorry. not 'it'.

Her work is striking and thought provoking.
She's challenging stereotypes and cliches, not making it look pretty.
You don't sound very much like you've studied it for seven years.

I'll buy it if I had the money!
