Our capitalist society is sucking the lives out of people for everybody's amusement.
Everybody is capable of producing their own Imogen but the ones that are good at it are being made into donors. The result, the donors don't have Imogen left for themselves.
@akneebreeated I guess it didn't came across as expected. I was thinking about actors not having a private life, supermodels no longer have self identity, workers are being exploited. They don't care about the milking cows. They only care for the money!
@BenivolentWarlock Yes it is a sad fact that money is what drives not only this country but the entire world of human kind. Morals used to mean something. As for the spot light life of actors and supermodels I would say that is the job scope itself. In my opinion if these people did not want the fame and glamour they would choose a different proffesion.
@akneebreeated It's not only actors and supermodels. Scientists and Business Executives don't have enough time for their family. Teachers can't even tutor their own kids. Sucessfull graphic artists are unable to make the next masterpeice. We are being overmilked. There is nothing left for ourselves anymore!
To FreshlyRoastedBeans: I agree with you on that. I do think it's that we take our eyes for granted but it could also be about how so many people are searching for happiness. Color is happiness and so many people have lost it and are searching for it in the wrong places and through the wrong ways.
It's a great short film if you know what it's about, but without the description I would have never guessed what it meant. It makes me realize how much I take my eyes for granted and how beautiful this planet actually is... really, well done!
I've watched all the films for this festival, and this is by far my favorite. Color as a concept is so simple, and so powerful when used as a metaphor as it is in this feature. It's a piece that makes you want to stare outside your window, to absorb the beauty sitting beyond it and give yourself the opportunity to appreciate life. Truly, a job well done.
however this ended up here technically speaking--it's about 5x brighter/more nuclear in the highlights than it should be. it's just hard for a dp to watch his/her work on the internet sometimes.
I see what you mean, especially after seeing a less compressed version on the website. Kudos for shooting a great looking film. Quick question: How did you end up on HDCam? Did you do an offline/online, or just an up-res?
Thank you very much for the kind words alphons. The way post worked for us was getting the s16 dalies processed and then transfered to a hard drive via an HD transfer at Cineworks in Miami. We got the footage back in DVCPro HD files (same type of file you get using HVX 200 p2 camera). We onlined on an HD editing system after picture lock :)
Trouble is, I didn't understand this film at all, without the description, and I NEVER read the descriptions, I want the films to stand on their own. Oh, "color-enhancing drug", I get it now... in that case, great film! Well shot and well-acted. The pusher guy is the best, exteremely convincing. And nice tackle at 8:10! BLAH-DOW!!
the side bar notes : In a post apocalyptic world, a young man fights to return the perception of color back to a dying society, which has become overrun by Imogen, a color enhancing drug harvested from humans
My personal interpretation would be:
Our capitalist society is sucking the lives out of people for everybody's amusement.
Everybody is capable of producing their own Imogen but the ones that are good at it are being made into donors. The result, the donors don't have Imogen left for themselves.

This was incredible. It was a bit confusing at the end, but I understood what the filmmaker was trying to get across.
I think this could be a little longer and elaborated, though.
Good film.

Imogen- and its meaning is "maiden" or "blameless, innocent"
Wow I mean wow. In a way she started this the looking at life in another way (the colors)
Noah was content to seeing things as they were she needed to see them in a brighter tone.
It's like her concept of life was taken but then extended to the point of extinction.
But in the end I can kinda conclude that thought this we find that through love is there true brilliant color.
I dont know just a guess

i enjoyed it. it felt too open ended, but that could have been what he was going for.
i see potential for a feature length here!

Wow, must look great. I'm stuck with seeing my s16 film in SD. Kind of a let down considering the res of film.
