Northern Soul was an offshoot of the mod's,

it was mainly white working class youth, I don't know why that was as it's mainly based on Black American R&B and Soul, everyone was welcome on the Northern Scene

@mohair8he - Not really, Britain in the 70s didn't have a huge "Afro-Carribean" community. Though we did have a few who attended. If you ever see any Casino vids with a Black guy doing amazing spins (usually shown in slo-mo) he was Vernard from Bradford in Yorkshire. Don't forget Britain has just had (1997- prsent) Multiculturalism forced upon it's people, and not for the best either.
