  • Bugger this. White upper class twats talking about things they will never understand. When your mother's are lining up in the same dole cue to get the same stamps for secondhand clothes and out of date food - it doesn't matter what colour you are - you are brother's. Loyalty, honour and pride is the Skinhead war cry. Let it be heard. Working class? What work? What Job? You don't know shit

  • whats the song at the start of this vid called?

  • I love it how all these Experts talking about Northern Soul don't have a bloody clue, as they were never into Northern Soul. it was a "White Northenr Working Class" youth culture, yes we did have Coloured lads who went to the Casino etc but they were few and far between though they were warmly welcomed.

  • What's he name of this Documentary?

  • haha!

    'Don Letts, film maker'

  • lets all bring it back real strong

  • @artfemus Northern soul is probably bigger today than it was when I was going to the Casino, which then moved to Wigan Tiffanys, then Central Pier Morecambe, Top of the World staffs, etc.

It's just a pity my knees have worn out and my dancing days are over. =/

  • this style was still goin on in the 80s

  • damn rudies are dyin out im the last of a dying breed man sick of this emo scene shit im not black or white but the other few rudies accept me id rather have them then a bunch of fukin complanin dyed haired bastads

  • Thank the Lord someone knows that real skinheads aren't racists, thank you

  • you guys really dressed nice back then

  • some still dress nice like tha t = )

  • @artfemus We still do! haha

  • I was born 1959, grew up in the late 60s and seventies, and loved the two tone stay press Brogues Loafers, Fred perry shirts, bracers harrington jackets, I felt so cool and smart, loved every minute of those days, the youngsters today look like a bunch a fucking faggots!

  • im the last one of the last of the rudies i got called a queer emo kids i had a feild day that day

  • @merthyrmafia Listen mate i'm 50 coming up next - I was brought up the same. Some are born cool ! - others have to work at it -The clobber you mention i still wear - mixed in with other casual stuff - You don't have to look like a streotype 60s Mod/Skin to still stay cool. you can mix it about a bit and still stay "Mod smart " As i'm sure you know

  • @merthyrmafia They do.... I loved seeing real skins, back in tha day....

  • @merthyrmafia

    Funny :)

  • @merthyrmafia "in my day..."

  • @merthyrmafia oi! i agree .... yea some people think its unheard up of asian skin at my school who is into heavy metal......i say FUCK EM! i wish i was born in the 50s-60s! seem like you guys and a wicked time back then!but hey... im still wearing my kutte and my boots proud!

  • I really miss these times, I started off as a 70s soulboy and to this day I still am, their is nothing now to compare to the dress style music of back then, we have young people dressed up in hoodies who think they invented that stupid look, their is no fashion sense no real music no proper dancers now, we have done it all before them and they think listening to watered down r and b youngsters today havent a clue we were far cooler and smarter then this boring Ipod generation enuff said....

  • bob marley was the shittest reggae sound out there toots and the maytals ,desmond dekker and laruel atiken wer so much better and dreads look shite im a skin/punk but and always will be oi from ireland stay trad and stay punk oi

  • What's the song that plays at the beginning of the Northern Soul segment?

  • Legendcity78 - it is ..........Rain featuring Charity Brown - Out of my mind. Canadian band from 1971

  • souls boys???? RUDYS!!!

    donde estan los rude boys!!

  • whats the song at the begging of the documentary?

sounds like toots and maytals, not for certain though.

  • whats the song in the beginning?

  • Broadway Jungle by Toots & The Maytals.

  • That guy presenting used to play Curly Watts in Coronation Street!

  • mate, you have no clue

  • yeah, but you said northern soul was british soul and gay, for someone who labels themselve a skinhead you should probably sort out you facts before you say them

northern soul is simply obscure soul like rare motown, stax, volt, i assume thats the american soul music you are referring to is northern soul

  • @skinhead5 - You a Neo-Nazi Skinhead or what ?

  • @skinhead5 - you really don't know what your talking about. White British Soul ?

Your not Skinhead your NEO-NAZI SKIMHEAD or you wouldn't be so bleedin' IGNORANT.

  • hahaha!!! enorme!!! quelle classe les suedehead!!! la classe ultime tout simplement!!! clément "the last suedehead from 70's"

  • its that fuckin journo again! fuckin rent a face!

  • Nice bit about a sweet music scene. Not enough like this out there.

  • dude, those bell bottoms got to go!!! to disco!

  • Why hasn't some made a movie about The Wigan Casino? There is a real story in there.

  • @michael1882yt - You couldn't really, as it was about the people, the atmosphere and the building itself. But people are or have been making or trying to make a film on Wigan Casino and Northern Soul.

  • @whelleysoulboy64 - Thanks mate. Lets hope they do find an angle on it some day.

  • @michael1882yt I'm pretty sure they did.. Go Google the movie called "SoulBoy."

  • @michael1882yt SOUL BOY - the film

  • @michael1882yt Seen Soulboy?

  • You don't see clubs in the U.S.A. that play all soul music with nothing but white faces, not where I'm from, it seems like skinheads were more open to mixing with other cultures than the Northern Soul crowd was.

  • you just don't get it man

  • Northern Soul was an offshoot of the mod's,

it was mainly white working class youth, I don't know why that was as it's mainly based on Black American R&B and Soul, everyone was welcome on the Northern Scene

  • @mohair8he - Not really, Britain in the 70s didn't have a huge "Afro-Carribean" community. Though we did have a few who attended. If you ever see any Casino vids with a Black guy doing amazing spins (usually shown in slo-mo) he was Vernard from Bradford in Yorkshire. Don't forget Britain has just had (1997- prsent) Multiculturalism forced upon it's people, and not for the best either.

  • @whelleysoulboy64 Hmm.. I gre up in London, before 1997, and there were loads of Caribbeans... maybe it wasn't like that oop North

  • great video pretty much says what it was. cheers mate

  • Well Posted Mate, let the truth shine.

  • That just about sum's it up,

    Well Posted.

  • just fantastic
