@bammei these ones are better than others I've tried long ago, but whether they would last or not will obviously depend on what kind of player you are with them.
@rmccaw7 well they are plastic but pretty durable... I would guess they'd make it through a club set at typical rock volume especially if you avoided rim shots.
@limpb11izkit most of these kinds of sticks probably wouldn't make it through a gig if you're really rocking out, but with only occasional use my lighted sticks still work after all these years, for what that's worth.
the lights (located at the base) are powered by three 1.5V AG13s batteries (replaceable) upon impact, but have a long decay that illuminates the rest of the stick.
watching it again, it does maybe look like that on the right hand around 1' I guess (lousy res), but the roll sound actually emerges from the transition to an 8 vs 12 from the 6/12 -- the R hand rhythm straightens out, from three beats per L hand ostinato cycle (6 beats) to four (thank you Terry Bozzio). After that happens, the L hand does the same, setting up for the final 16th note crossover extravaganza. So, no 1 handed rolls here --
awesome! terry bozzio is my favorite drummer ever! actually i'm named after frank... no kidding my parents named me zappa (thats why my username is big z)
wow. Zappa! The two together brings to mind the Baby Snakes era... Live in NY, the black page... I was heavily influenced by the Ostinato video set, and the Modern Drummer sound sheet he did too (circa 1990?)
terry is freakin nuts though! he is phenomenal! i'm picking up the firestix versions of these sticks on ebay with my birthday money i just got but i'm trying to decide on a color...
nope, just says "DisneyWorld", no other markings, and they only light up when you play, no off switch, nothing, and they don't sell them there anymore anyway, least not the last time I checked
they've done pretty well so far -- certainly the most durable lighted sticks I've ever tried -- but I wouldn't expect them to survive a bashing session like a pair of Vater 5Bs (my usual stick). But at medium volume, they've held up and the lights continue to work after over a year of intermittent use.
yes, they are plastic, and yes, they 'suck' in terms of sound and feel compared to wood sticks. However, they work better than any other lighted sticks I've tried previously. FYI I did not post this vid to promote these sticks -- I don't even know the brand -- it's just some drum kung fu fun for the other drum crazies out there...
what would you say the qualitty is about the light up drumsticks. like can they last

@spacetimebeats but in order to make them last, what kind of player would you have to be? averagely aggressive? or reeeeeeally gentle?

how long do these sticks last compared to normal wooden sticks? do they break easily?
