  • pretty sure norway is safer than america. also implying that burying the garbage is good for the environment or is perfectly good. i smell a rat.

  • Soon enough though those protests are gonna become riots when the dollar collapses.

  • The fact of the matter is that we take so much for granted that we focus on the things that, really, are non-issues. And it's all the worse because we have so much free time, and so little to do, and we need a sense of belonging and activity. So we go out and protest about stupid shit we know nothing about.

  • Some of these are surprisingly shortsighted.

  • And John Stossel is even better than this video shows, because he is an atheist, although he does not promote it enough. Religion, or belief in a god, is the most stupid myth of all.

  • John Stossel is an agnostic, not an atheist. Just as an FYI, atheist requires the same leap of faith as theism, but it happens in a different direction. There is no scientific evidence of or against the existence of a God. Theists take a leap of faith and say that, despite no evidence or proof, there exists a God. Atheists take the leap of faith and say that, despite no evidence or proof, there does not exist a God.

  • These are the safest times, until the financial crisis

  • Call news lies and stupid on a news channel lol

  • The air is cleaner than it was in the 70's. But who cares if medical is better if you can't afford it? Who cares if jobs are better if you can't get one? Who care's if you can play golf on a landfill if you can't afford to play golf?

If life is better why is the suicide rate always increasing? Why do tomatoes cost $3 a pound? I'll gladly go back in time to when sex wasn't a game of Russion Roulette and a broken leg doesn't mean a $20,000 bill.

  • @1971SuperLead 1) way to get medical care: get insurance. it is affordable. 2) Way to get a job: get a college degree. people with bachelor's degree unemployment 4.4%, master's 3.2%, Ph.D.'s 3.4% 3) cost to play golf: avg $20/round. All of your points are ridiculous myth/propaganda.

  • @svvmichael1 You are out of touch with the cost of living rates in the USA.

.....and the sexual disease rates as well.

My parents medical bill when I was born was only $600. I know college was a whole lot more affordable back then too.

    ...don't get aids.

  • @svvmichael1 1) I am completley up-to-date on cost of living. You are not, living in your parent's basement eating nutter butters all day. 2) sexual disease rate? LOLOLOLOL way to make up some b.s. leftist ignorant fool.

  • "It is cold, and they do fish on average, 2 bodies out of the river every year."

  • this video made me happy :)

  • These morons need to learn how to think quantitatively. If they could crunch the numbers---they can't---they would realize how absurd much of what they think is.

  • It's a myth that a myth is a myth...

What a vicious circle of lies everything is anymore. How many believe this series bc ABC News says a myth is a myth?! I'm not saying a lot of these myths aren't outright lies but I'll tell you this, building living areas on top of landfills poisons water supply. DUH!

  • maybe look at the world not just the u.s.a after all we are one pll.

  • life is pretty good now especially because of the internet

  • We should still recycle

  • Argh, why is everybody using reactor cooling towers which emits water vapour as an image of pollution? 6:02

  • @Elvarks Because nuclear power plants create radioactive waste.

  • Comment removed

  • It's all relative, Mr. Stossel. They may be building bigger landfills but that also means cutting down more trees and destroying important ecosystems.

  • @saranwrapca You're right sir, it is all relative, like IQ....

You don't seem to have a basic concept of the relative size of things... there are single ranches in states like Wyoming/Montana/Texas that are measured in square miles. Landfills can be very deep and the shear volume of trash that can disposed on just a few hundred acres is tremendous. I've recongnized some severe biases in regards to these matters in people who are from cities w/o much concept of the actual sz of the US.

  • @dchamberss First of all...what benefit does it give your argument by starting out with an insult?

The point is that no matter how much capacity we have now, the amount of space on earth is limited. Developing an attitude that implies we have infinite space is deterimental, and will discourage people from reducing waste. Not to mention the effect that storing garbage under the ground has on the quality of soil. Also, remember the world is more than the US. Thanks.

  • @saranwrapca Then you didn't see his report on Forests and how there is more forest in America now than in 1920. Landfills not only can be turned into golf courses or parks, but also, methane can be collected as the garbage breaks down and sold for cheap, clean energy. If that isn't turning lemons into lemonade, I don't know what is.

  • young george costanza at 2:48.

  • fucking BullShit: the gases that comes from our cars are nothing like the kind of polution that comes from the horse menour????? This is plain wrong. That is what is called mindcontrol or propaganda. Start comparing the situation of today with the situation before 1496 and see that every stream was potable water back then. The land provided enough food without farming like in todays petrolbased (or manual based 1900's) agriculture.

  • @sowiesosso he meant general pollution, the amount of damage to someones body consuming water with fecal matter in it, is nothing compared to having carbon dioxide in the air. In fact the more carbon dioxide in the air there is the better it is for plants and trees.

  • 90 people died from SARS and the entire planet puts on an ineffective mask. Millions have died from AIDS and no one puts on a condom.

  • @karozans oops I meant 900.

  • @karozans awesome

  • I love seinfeld

  • Life is getting better but we just see more of the bad stuff. The media loves a bad story, after all, it does sell and we are much more connected to it than previous generations.

  • Give me a break.

  • I agree that life is getting better, but politics and economy is getting worse. (mostly because of politics.)

  • 6:01 Funny how many people don't realize that there's just water vapor rising from nuclear cooling towers.

  • How does this have less than 3,000 views?

  • Is that Frank Caliendo posing as a little kid at 2:47?

  • The air is cleaner. When was the last smog alert in LA?

  • The kid at 2.35 sounds like Shelly from South Park.

  • holy cow she does.

  • The air is cleaner? right.

  • but who wants to play golf on a pile of garbage? this garbage is going to stay there for good. it wont disappear. matter cant be created or destroyed. garbage will only disappear if all those microorganisms eat it. or we could use plasma arc gasification. garbage is burned at really high temperatures and you get gas, no CO2, and some solid thing comes out too. space issue solved.

  • You haven't stated anything negative.

  • Who wants to play golf on dirt? Who wants to play gold on grass?

Come on, 90% of this stuff degrades and is buried pretty deep underground. The rest of it was mined from the earth to begin with. You bury steel and aluminum in the ground, and guess what, thats where it came from.

  • Love John Stossel

  • he's really good at his job

  • Awesome video!
