  • 2:38 very enthusiastic dancing from mr.jerry dammers

  • And I was born during this time...What the hell??

  • Go on Steve.

    Announce that song.

  • Só pra quem manja.

  • THE SPINMASTERS COLLECTION OF RECORDS.... (just 1)

  • @fairhillnorrie Please stand for the National Anthem..

  • Hahaha LOVE how they're just taking the piss!

  • 8 dislikes?! FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Try and find a funkier yet still relevant band - there are none. This song is about job losses due to industry, mainly car, in the 70s to early 80s, when 50,000 jobs in the british car industry alone were cut (which was necessary for profit) and £8 billion pounds of taxpayers money was spent keeping it alive over 8 years.

A massive tune, and probably of some relevance today.

  • this is a reight song im a mod myself im only 12 but got a harrington jacket a parka 3 helmets and me and my dad go to scooter club cos we have 2 scooters

  • Love how the backing band are still making an effort at lip syncing!

  • @bossskinhead1969 So you think they look cool as fuck then do you - fucking idiot , this was the beginning of the end - fucking clueless twat.

  • rico rodriquez is on the trumpet

  • @liamMCR Erm, Rico's the trombonist.

  • very weird performance

  • How did they do that noise they du I wanna do it :( gr8 vid XD

  • 6 people were born into an era where music means sod all. 439 people were born in an era when music did'nt have to be so superficial to make it to the top 10.

Modern pop sucks. Its meaningless and without point. Noise.

  • ten most critically acclaimed songs of the 80s..

    10. specials - ghost town

  • as a Coventry band we all know them when they split up 3 became fun boy 3..brill lad's..

  • R.I.P

  • 0:11 Give me some more Borat!

  • hell ov a tune y day mimeing?

  • clapping is a stooges thing :o

  • i was only 3 when this song came out, this and too much too young are my most favorite, totp was good to watch seeing all them bands miming and pretending to play instruments all it was in them days just the recording, think totp got serious towards the end probably why the beeb bosses axed it, would'nt be the same if they brought it back

  • 30 years. THIRTY F*CKING YEARS!

  • Cameron's going the same way as Thatcher did in destruction of the U.K..

  • Terry Hall smileing, whats that all about?

  • Terry is so awesome xD

  • 4 people are not very special.

  • This was like THE record of 1981. It summed the year up, and the way Thatcher destroyed the UK.

  • @mr.chaoscheese. everyone is necessary to the song. you nut. everyone in the band was crucial. if anything they are missing a few members in fact. thats why these guys and gals where so cool.

  • If you guys like the specials I highly recommend the band PapaFish from southern california, they have a totally unique and awesome ska reggae sound!

  • I love how half the people on the stage are not necessary to the song.

  • I love how the singer doesnt even bother try to look like he is singing.

  • You can just see them laughing at themselves for miming :L

  • Too much fighting on the dance floor..lol

    This is a classic!

  • i love how out of place the white guy looks lol,

  • @jeffroy15 I don't think he looks out of place at all.

  • @jeffroy15 Why does he look out of place?

  • @MrChaoscheese simply put? He looks like a total dork in a sea of pretty happenin' cats.

  • @jeffroy15 took you a while to reply

  • @MrChaoscheese ya i forgot to reply lol. sorry.

  • These guys had such a cool sound. Love the Egyptian motif towards the beginning.

  • i know the bass player. no joke i really do

  • Blimey.....do my eyes deceive me? Terry Hall SMILING???? No, couldn't be. Must be spooks playing tricks.

  • @jonsilence That's what I thought at first, till I realized he's fake smiling, which becomes pretty obvious eventually. Look carefully, you'll see.

The very rare times Terry cracked a half of a second smile, he had a very good reason, here he's making big grins all the time with no reason at all. Self-irony, that's all.

Besides, it's against his religion & he has a reputation to maintain.

Incedently, could they have been more huddled together? Surprised they could move at all.

  • What a tUNE,,,GENIUs,,,,whaT ARE THIS GenerATION Writing about?????

  • Terry Nev & Lynval are definately going a bit Fun Boy Three.

  • Is it just me, or does 01:16 01:22 sound like the introduction to some old cartoon series? I can't think which one, but I think it was a H&B one...

    Love the song. :)

  • it iz JAMMON !!! shooo im on cloud nine listening to it ...and it feels good

  • For us on youtube it looks great, but how stupid must it look when the three of them look into the camera.(2:54) Wouldnt you think they are being a wierd live?

  • they appear to be having a blast ...but were literally on the verge of a very acrimonious split.

The Specials are a class act.

  • you can tell a mile away terrys laughing at how hes got to mime and hes just ripping the shit of it lol x

  • do you remember the good old days before the torys?

  • @TheSka2Tone yes and i remember the bad old days when they were in the time before

  • why do they need to lip sync though? surely the specials are too good a band to have to do that?

  • @murrayisarobot That was pretty much the format of TOTP back then.

  • i love how terrys just smiling at the fact he's not doing any proper singing :D

  • Yeah Ghost town :P

  • what a group help break down racial barriers shows blacks and whites can make sweet music together

  • classic.. I got the single when it came out way back when still a fav of mine today. I write songs influenced by the same spooky moods. Check out my vids. (click my name)

  • terry is the most fcking adorable man I've ever seen.

  • Delicious to see this video again after all this time.

  • Dance 2TONE mofos!!! its the fckin Specials!!!

  • song is fantastico

  • luv it

  • 3 people like lady gaga

  • @MrChaoscheese I like lady ga ga cheeky!

  • @MrChaoscheese my sister loves lady gaga and the specials.

    you prove nothing.

  • @M15CY yes i do. do you think lady gaga will be rememberd in 20 years as much as queen, led zeppelin, and any other good band that was out there is now. the specials wre not as popular but still, look at the comments. they are mainly positive. anybody can like the specials and lady gaga but im sure they will like the specials for longer!!

  • @MrChaoscheese yeah, nobody will be remembered nearly as much as zeppelin, the stones, beatles and of course, the specials. but you never said remember. you said "3 people like lady gaga." you were implying that the three people who disliked this video liked gaga, therefore implying that fans of lady gaga do not like the specials. therefore, you prove nothing. people can enjoy mainstream music and enjoy ska.

  • @M15CY Of course i didnt mean your sister exactly. you can listen to mainstream and (in my opinion, this is not included in my comment but jus lettin you know) good music. But why would someone thumb this video down if they liked the song. All im saying is that if someone didnt like this then they propably ( not definately ) like main stream music and have know respect for this kind of music.

  • @MrChaoscheese yeah i get what you mean. i knew you weren't talking about my sister. i just used her as an example of people who like mainstream and good music.

  • @M15CY glad we can agree on that.

  • buen video!

  • wow talk about a blast from the past !!! i fckin love em

  • i feel the funk in all music that i like...classic beat sickness

  • top sound and top girl thatcher, i never had so much money in my pocket with her in power,,,

  • Thatcher's Britain...sounds like Reagan's America too. Screw 'em both!

  • Not only one of the greatest British bands, The Specials are up there amongst the world's greatest.

  • good song

  • it's the dawning of a new era in the UK. good luck. you can always escape downunder... escape the ghost town....

  • @junglealien Or you can always escape those XXXX drinking, kangeroo shagging, boomerang throwing, Aborigine abusing. didgeridoo playing convicts, and escape to Blighty.. escape Ozland.

P.S Of course, the above is a joke. I would never insult 'roo's by implying they would mate with those filthy Aussies. So sorry. Besides, who'd want to relocate to a nation where Leo Sayer is one of the most famous ex-pats? EXACTLY.

  • "conjures up the era" ... you're not wrong, but being there was f**ckin hell, let me tell ya

  • Its a classic but it always reminds me of Father Ted now.

The one with the raffle and the DJ brings only one song...this one.

  • I have never seen MR HALL so happpy

  • uuuu

     I Love it....

  • Ignorance is bliss. British industry was dead by the time Thatcher took over. The Labour government had to keep nationalising it to keep it going, and it was costing millions.) The end was inevitable. Why should the state fund car factories that are not making money?

  • Cracking stuff.

  • amo el bajo de esta cancion
