very cool love theses yamaha products i have ry30 and dx7 which are really all you need i do like the an200 however they just have a sound of their own.
These are cool little machines to have in one's setup. Get a couple Electribes, a DX200, a AN1x, an RY30, an R8, and throw in a MC909...you're all set. :D
The An-200 and DX-200 together combined with a decent Midi Keyboard and you got yourself a decent starters Setup with FM Synthesis and Virtual Analog Synthesis plus some "half way" useable Drums ( good enough for starters ). The only bad thing about these is that for "deep programing" you will need to use the Software Editors that come with both of them...but the DX200 is still one of the easy-to-use FM Synths out there and the An-200 Sounds as good as the better VA Vsti's out there.
what about the filters? do they also have those clearly audible aliasing steps like the An1-x or do they open smoothly? (though consideredit´s ridiculously low prices on ebay, this is a gift horse not tobe looked in the mouth too deeply, a wonderful synth!)
Yes it has MIDI but no thru. This was one of my first synths in high school it is great but its not fully programmable from the front panel and must be edited w/ a computer. I do not like that. 5 notes of polyphony is a little low these days. I sold it because the Dave Smith synths and the alesis micron are more versatile and sound more analog. The AN200 has character though.
Haha, what a cute thing to say! I've been watching this guys videos as a synth shopping aid. After about 10 videos I finally saw his face, and he is cute! Plus, I'm a strait guy, but obviously one of those extremely gay seeming strait guys.
NO, i got the rs 7000 too and a an1x which features the same board as the an200. Its a real virtual analog synthesizer not like the rs a preset-synth.
The AN200 has to be my fave under rated synth, open it up and you will find the same PLG-150 board you buy to fit into your CS6 and Motif. To get the best out of it you need the PC editor it comes with, you first need to download a patch from Yamaha though otherwise it won't work on win XP. As a groove box I think it sucks; poor drum sounds and lame monophonic sequencer. As a synth; truly AMAZING and powerfull. The free eg also rocks.

I can't imagin using AN200 without keyboard... But it sounds really really great. And it's so cheap- around 250$ in Poland.
