Fabulous! I loved your performance. I do think I agree with the person who said they would have preferred less of the sustaining pedal, though I'd certainly be happy if I could play it as well as you can!
I prefer this one over Gilels, hard to describe why, as I clearly recognize his mastery and the fact that Rachmaninov put his legacy onto him... but for me, this sounds much more... uhh... epic? Only wish this was better quality :)
also my favourite composer! you express the deep passion of this piece in an excellent way! But I prefer your swinging performances in 'the black sheep'!!!
You are a credit to your generation. Thank GOD that you understand the meaning of music. You have a fabulous career ahead of you. You should try out for the New York Philharmonic one day. Your young and you can spend the next 60 years with them and have a steady gig. A friend of mine just recently retired from the Philharmonic. Nice run. Enjoy your talent!
i was 18 (and still:D) when i played this, and it gave me such an enthusiastic feeling and kind of freedom, so in my opinion it's a MUST for every pianist:) (btw playing the piano is only a hobby for me).
my interpretaion is almost the same, and both of them (mine and Luca's) are very good:) (maybe i'll upload a video of mine, later...)
Wow! Respekt! :-)
Hey! I subbed about a month ago after falling in love with boogie-woogie piano, but I'm recording this piece later this week! I would really love to be play blues piano well but after playing classical piano since the age of 5 (so 13 looong years) its been a little restraining on the improv front. Which style did you start with and how did you manage to transfer between the two? Thanks :D

I'm sorry but I found this rendition sub par, This kid is really good at blues and boogie, but this playing was just mediocre in my opinion, slamming at the keys, much too fast excessive sustain made the sound muddy. Showed no real emotion, I'm sorry but I think you should stick with boogie, it's much more suited for someone like you.
Please don't take this the wrong way though, I'm only suggesting that classical music isn't for you, you should still continue on with your improv work though.
@zm177 I would like to note that not all classical musicians will be that critical. i am I classically trained vocalist and would never discourage someone at this age from pursuing something.
Dear lucky. I adored your boogie woogies, but now you have shown every body, that you can really play the piano. Thank you of the bottom of this 75 old heart for doing it all . Take good care of yourself , greetings from us in the Netherlands Dinkie
Bravo! Our youngest daughter said listening to you play makes her heart happy. So, you have my admiration and gratitude for making my little girl happy. It's always a great pleasure to watch you videos and listen to you play. Keep up the great work!
Wonderful, along with others who have also commented, I did not realise your talents extended as widely as Rachmaninoff (my favourite composer). You are truly very good.
Speaking not as an expert, but as a passionate listener, your timing is good, expression good and keyboard skills are excellent.
I prefer less sustain, Rach is so rich in sound and depth it doesn't need any more. For me the ultimate interpretation of this piece is by Gilels.
All this time I have spent watching you play and I never knew you could play classical music with such an astounding style. It is like there are two completely different sides to you. I enjoy both sides. You have spent many, many hours practicing the piano and it shows with your voiceings, your style, and your total involvement in the music while you play, be it Boogie Woogie or this bit of a classical number. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you.
Wunderbar !
