ahahaa again telegraphed one punch manouvers by the oppostion, in a real fight people struggle and dont do the classic step slowly and punch with the speed of a sloth !
These demos are rubbish. In reality, assailants don't just stand there like a mannequin after you parry their first strike or release their initial grip on you! Try giving the people some realistic demos. Where it can be seen to really simulate an assailant. Most of you who put these kinds of vids out & do any of these demos just miss the brutal truth of these scenarios your using & delude yourselves, & one another, that this shit will work. Shame on you! Go & redesign your demos with reality.
@djmichaeldyn No point... In most real life situations it's shit because they're friends will kick the shit out of you whilst you're rolling round on the floor. Sambo is the best all round martial art in my opinion, as you are taught stand up fighting, but also takedowns and grappling moves in case you ever need it. The best case scenario for reality is to be an elite boxer/kickboxer with enough wrestling skill to stop 99.9% of the human race taking you down.
@SpyWhoLovedHimself P.S. not saying things like BJJ don't teach takedowns and stand up, but Sambo practitioners spend MUCH more time on those sorts of things. Their wrestling skills and takedowns are typically far superior. With the exception of say Ricardo Arona who has some decent wrestling skills.
Well these boys know what they are doing thats for sure. Im quite impressed with the level of controlled aggression and finishing moves. If people are criticising this I think they are a bit lost. Mother Eagle approves.
On ALL the freaking martial arts vids on YT they are ALWAYS some silly little bastards who have never been punched in the face and much less have KO'ed someone yet they make fun of the teachings shown in the vids.
The best Kung-Fu teacher I had was a scrawny man with dandruffs and smelled like garlic yet i would always leave his classes with bruises. Don't judge a book by its cover and show some fuking respect !!
Real masters arent going around being bullies just to start fights.
@gillisledoux007 WOW. You sound like the toughest guy I know. Maybe you could teach us all how to fight. Come back to us when you've sqaured up to 5 guys on your own and dealt with business. Come back to us when you've youve been forced to tear someones ear out with your teeth as a last resort. Come back to us when you've managed to avoid bruises from "fight" school..
I don't go out looking for trouble and I carry a folding knife with thumb clip in my wallet pocket for cases of gang attacks. In a 5 vs 1 scenario I would absolutely go for eye gauges, throat strikes, kicks to the patella/groin or cervical column dislocations, after which i would run away and call 911. Not take time to "split their mouth and lips apart vertically". After doing that you can't plead self-defense in a court of law. Thats just something you see in a gory movie.
The worst I have done in a street fight was against a guy who was beating his gf outside a bar. I pinned him to the ground (both my knees on his shoulders), bled on his face (he managed to break my nose) and by using his hair as a handle i smashed the back of his head on the asphalt 5-6 times. Then one of my friend stopped me from doing further damage. The cops came and witnesses told them i was only defending his gf. They let me go away without any charges, i got lucky.
I find that a thumb in the eye usually solves matters. All the way in. I like to finish with both hands inside their mouth hooking into the inside of their cheeks and with a quick pull, split their mouth and lips apart vertically.
You most likely have never been in a street fight. If you did that to a person after they are not a threat to you anymore you would be in jail, not writing comments on youtube in your parent's house basement.
obviously the SAS don't do the shouting in the field, but we use it in training to show intent and in a street situation hopefully it would put the wind up your attacker as he would think what the hell's this guy on, just as you hit him!! Also helps with your breathing.
I know everyone has something to throw out but, never...EVER put your arms out to block a kick. Your opponent may be trained in Muay Thai (or equivalent) and your arm will bet broken. Start training yourself to triangle your arms and legs to block/absorb the blow. Break this bad habit before it breaks you!
i think the world has finally cottoned on that real fighting is done on the ground. standing techniques can always be overcome by good solid wrestling. ie. the takedown 4:51
@mmafigjam the ground is the last place you want to be in a street fight, otherwise your attackers mates will probably give you a good shoeing even if hes on the floor with you!!
i think the world has finally cottoned on that real fighting is done on the ground. standing techniques can always be overcome by good solid wrestling.
bro not tryin to bash you personally.......I admit that was a lil harsh.....theres just alot of people claiming to be experts and taking other ppls money who dont know any better. i am sorry for your health conditions, I was just playing around
@Sethlowell don't worry you're not the first to look at the shape of me and think whats he doing on the mats, but i do surprise those that get on there with me, especially as i'm also only 5'4", but what i do is use my lack of height and my extra weight to my advantage and get in low and aim to take their balance.
everytime he screeches,he's trying to show the rest of the class when he is striking. He is'nt actually hitting his opponent with much force, just twisting him into locks, also alot of eye gouging, ball hitting, throat jabbing also-the sas would'nt use it if it did'nt work
This stuff is legit. I don't do it, but I have done karate. The point when you're practicing isn't to hit hard. It's to perform the technique as quickly as possible, and at some points on the body, you don't need a lot of power anyway.
Another thing, just because the guy in the video isn't some Bruce Lee looking guy doesn't make him any less powerful. I can bet on the fact that he's putting every piece of his body to work when he's doing this.
you would think someone who does this for a living would keep there fat ass in shape, real professional here....whats his trademark move....put my belly on your back lol
Do you have a video which shows how effective this is in a real situation - As in a dedicated relentless street attack? Do you guys train with body armour for real situations or is it just a competitive sport?

first i heard of any martial art designed to just take what u need from it but if u read what i said carefully i said that the SAS adapts this martial art style just like the japanesse special forces do with shotokan and also i spoke to a friend of mine who teaches martial arts in the army and CQC the army still uses shotokan amongst other martial arts judo tae kwon do etc but most of it gets adapted to suit the needs of the army anyway, but cant be bothered for a argument with u for my opinion
Goshinkwai is a modular system, everyone is different, some like to strike others to grapple. You can walk out after one session and have something to fight with. So you take what you want and adapt where you want. The system is designed to play to the strengths of the individual. So there you are a first for you.
There are generic techniques in many systems and many types of military. If it's a good technique it will be in many systems. Show me anywhere on the British army syllabus of training the word "Shotokan" just post a link.
this style reminds me a little bit like the one Si-Fu Julian Hitch teaches wing stun the style that grandmaster Yip - Man was taught and yes also bruce lee an chackie chan, very good for self defence a lot of bodyguards/close protection officers are trained in the style like the one above and the one i mentioned so this style in this video must be affective especially if that veteran SAS bloke endorses it aswell i think his name is john mac
yes the SAS do use this but remember their only take what their need out of it and adapt it i much prefer shotokan or the shotokan which the japanese special forces have adapted reason i like shotokan for is because its meant to take the opponent down in one strike fast and hard also as far as i know the british army uses shotokan aswell because its powerful, fast, quick, and like its meant for to knock out or kill ur opponent in on strike if possible
What a crock of shit, the programme is designed to take what you want from it anyway. The British army does not use shotokan any more than they use a deep fat fryer to clean there boots with. Check your evidence.
Actually, that's exactly what Japan uses. They train full contact, no pads with it, and I promise you don't want to fight them.
I'm not knocking your position, just look around a bit, armed forces martial arts training is much different than dojo training.. they're two separate worlds.
Japan uses shotokan because it's simple and brutal, and when practiced practically, it may be used practically, and that will go for any martial art.
I saw this video a while back, it's kind of fun to watch, I don't mean to promote Shotokan, I'm not part of a dojo or anything. Just if you're interested.
This is top notch stuff. i have seen most of the clips on youtube. In some ways similar to our "combat Jujitsu". I love the use of rapid-fire hand strikes. Alot ot of outside reaps. I don't think this looks complcated at all. I waould assume that the attacker would be done long before any of these techniques would be "finished". Isn't that the point. Hats off guys!
The idea is to train constantly for a counter and counter attack, ever have insurance you did not use? even if you don't use your insurance it's still a good idea to have it. This whole technique style is just insurance.
@Wizzydoofer thats, fine, but still, if a fight lasts longer than 3 seconds, you may as well have lost, counter or not. plus while you're pounding the hell out of 1 guy, his friends do the same to you... 1 punch. 1 kill.
For all you guys who miss the point this is a grading so they are looking for different skills and not a demo of kicking the f**k out of some one but it's there if you know what your looking at they are holding back so not to injury each other and they are also putting the pressure on to give a idea of how the moves will work and building skills to keep on going when things don't always work as planed this is what martial arts are about as well as high kicks and flashy take downs good job

I'm sorry you did say as far as you know.

no armed forces worth their salt would use shotokan .I doubt if japan even does.Shotokan as popularly practised is a dose of shite
billysue2 2 years ago
@billysue2

Wizzydoofer 2 years ago
@Wizzydoofer thats, fine, but still, if a fight lasts longer than 3 seconds, you may as well have lost, counter or not. plus while you're pounding the hell out of 1 guy, his friends do the same to you... 1 punch. 1 kill.
