  • I like the part when he hit the ground. Psycho Me Gusta.

  • Instantly turned into a Spaniard

  • he hit the ground hard enough that he instantly knew spanish!

  • Fuck you man, he's not an idiot. Why the fuck would you think he wanted to do that?!? do us all a favor and Jump out of a plane with no parachute. I hope you survive.

  • @chittychad18 he flipped backwards in his harness.. he's an idiot.

  • @TheRaellz the more you respond the more you sound like one. he didn't want to do that. we have no control over that when the chute opens. I never planned on half of my chute to not open and I never planned on a line twist on my first jump.

  • @chittychad18 "the more you respond the more you sound like one." um.. what? 1 message from over 3 weeks ago? i hope english is not your first language. yes, he did want to flip backwards in his harness, watch it again. you cannot accidentally backflip in your harness... yes you do have control over that when the chute is deployed. gravity straightens you out and prevents loss of control. loss of control can only occur from falling. i don't care what you planned.

  • @chittychad18 you seriously want to suggest something that is physically impossible to this argument? when your chute is deployed gravity keeps your body from flailing around as you would in free fall. you cannot lose control unless the chute is not holding you up.

you have no idea what you're talking about and your grammar is piss poor at best. learn some english then we'll talk again.

  • @chittychad18 0:02 watch the view go from the front to the canopy to behind him and to the ground. he back flipped. end of story.

  • Comment removed

  • he stayed calm enough to survive this, he is not an idiot he was just away too happy and screwed up a little bit =P

  • I would be shitting myself

  • this shows again that using a RSL adds to the risk, when does an RSL really help you?? Its supposed to be a safetey feature, but there are so many situations that can happen where the RSL makes it worse. I cant see the advantages balancing out the disadvantages.. You are trained to pull both handles, so thats what you do..!

  • @fettspinn exactly why I DONT use an RSL. There's no reason I'd cut away that low and there's no reason if i did cutaway that I wouldn't be able to pull my reserve handle. and if all else fails, there's the AAD

  • skank

  • I know Chris. He was in Puerto Rico filming divers' first tandems for a company. The back flip was inadvertent as he was trying to catch the parachute opening of some random tourist. Inexperienced? Hardly. Inexperienced divers could not have recovered from this mishap. Anyway, he's still alive. And jumping.

  • @Khaosshammy

"The back flip was inadvertent as he was trying to catch the parachute opening of some random tourist."

I knew there had to be a good explanation for the flip through the risers. No skydiver would do that knowing it could cause a mal. Up until now I though he was just joking around and that's when things turned potentially deadly. Thank you for posting the truth about what "really" happend.

    Blue Skyz !!

  • What happened here? At 0:04 he had a fully open, fully functioning canopy... then as we saw it went way down hill from there. What did this guy do? And why did he have a camera considering he was obviously inexperienced?

  • @futuresartech he does a flip through his risers (dumb) which creates a step-through and in the process gets a main suspension line caught on his foot so he can't get away from the main when he chops.

  • Wow.... Fucking scary dude....

  • I used to sneak into the packing room and switch assorted reserves from parachutes to old underwear. I loved the looks on riggers' faces when they popped the expired reserves to repack them.

  • I hope they were way old...what happens when someone jumps it, there's a cutaway and the guy gets a bunch of underwear flying out? hahahahaha Just like the cartoons where the spare tire comes out lol.

  • Who does a backflip through their risers? Honestly!

  • After doing 3 jumps in NZ, I am thinking about singing up for a skydiving course.

After watching videos like these im not so sure wether i actualy want to do it.

Does anyone here know how offten shit like this happens and what are the chances of your reserve fucking up aswell?

  • Most of the skydiving malfunctions are cause by pilot error. Chriss grissom shows us here by flipping through his risers under a fully stable canopy. If you listen to your instructors, and have proper body position, you'll have stable openings. you will greatly reduce your chances of a mal. But it comes with the sport.... do a tandem first see how you like it. Double mals are hardly ever, your reserves are pro packed every 120 days... hope this helps,

    Blue skies!

  • Main chute failure or malfunction 1/1000.

Reserve chutes are designed very conservatively, with one objective... deploying successfully and getting you to the ground safely. Odds of failure are much worse.

Odds of double malfunction are worse than one in a million.

A lot of deaths in skydiving are suicides. Many others are from stupidity.

Driving a car is dangerous too.

Do you wear a seat belt? Do you drive on properly inflated tires with good tread? Working brakes?

  • @SirBadger - dude, the guy did a backflip whilst under an open canopy. No one does this....ever! If you are worried that you may feel tempted to do such a thing then I would recommend against it. Otherwise go for it.

  • you have to be a dumbass!

  • @SirBadger What you asked is like saying "I wanna get my drivers license but after watching crashes on youtube...."

    Get me?

Go do your skydiving license and then once you understand everything about the equipment then make a decision to continue or not. Youtube is not the place to get your info from as the majority of people commenting wouldnt have a clue.

  • he was going down so fast his hair fell out!

  • What's that he's saying in the end in Spanish? Can someone translate?

  • proxykillah & Ziro54, I agree with you both but couldn't his cypress also have fired? The spin was radical enough to give him the fall rate and he was pretty close to the ground. I know his reserve handle was out but that doesn't mean he released the reserve. A close call. Bet he got drunk that night!

  • with that situation

    1st dumbass

2nd could of waited till he was stable

3rd could of spun it like a helicopter seed to

    slow him down

  • I agree with proxyKillah, from what you can see, it does look like a line over, after the initial cutaway, he should have stabilized before deploying his reserve. . .

  • naw it was caused by doing a backflip and the risers went hawire

  • anyone know cause of malfunction? good save though. im taking it the english have better cuss words ???

  • From what it looks like, it's one of two things initially - Either a line over, or a broken/stowed brake line that started the hard spin. He would have been ok - had he cut away and was facing the ground - his problem looks to be the reserve deployed into the main which was not completely cut away

  • Can you say BRING YOUR HOOK KNIFE!

  • i like it how when hes falling hes speaking english then when hes walking hes speaking spanish

  • @killmnan i think he is speaking cuban!

  • that was absolutely crazy, whoah almost jumped outta my chair.

  • ouch

  • yes he did good job controlling it but what want wrong when he release the main!! and did get back looking down so when he open his back up the parachute got stuck! but ! good job!!!!!!

  • he did a damn good job controlling the double mal all the way in. kudos to that.

  • lol oh shi*.. shi*! SHI*!! FU-- DOH!

  • hahahaha, he knew that was gunna hurt all the way down lol! just shows how important body position is when u deploy ur reserve, thats why i disagree with sky hooks and RSLs.

  • i love how the entire time you hear "shit fuck oh fuck shit" then hear some language other than english at the end when he gets up...even people who think they're dying curse in english!

  • wake up man wake up !! take it seriously !

  • This guy is, in fact, an idiot! Who the hell flips through their risers?? Have some respect for the sport, you're not riding bumper cars! I'm glad he walked away from that though, that was scary!

  • agreed

  • Just a thought... If I was thinking I was going to die, I hope my last words would not be "fuck!" and "shit!"...

  • especially if i was cursing in my non-native tongue lol

  • jeeez dude! that was close! well done for sorting it out in time & still being amongst the living. peace & blue sky bro.

  • that was annoying

  • Dude in the title you shouldn't be calling him an idiot stuff like this happens all the time in skydiving I've seen an accident like this myself except it was much worse.

  • And I'm only 13

  • i don't care how old the fuck you are

  • Well what crawled up your arse

  • haha!

  • the dude is an idiot...he did a backflip through his risers...

  • do you think he did it on purpose

  • read the description

  • I have and I think this guy is an idiot for saying he is an idiot because this happens in skydiving all the time

  • Well I guess I'm the idiot.. sorry

    blue skies

  • look i was just telling the youtube community what I think of this video not looking to cause any arguments sorry if my comment offended anyone

  • No Scritchy, it doesn't happen all the time. He fucked up big time and he knows it.

  • Jesus Christ can anybody accept an apology just showing my opinion like I said a week ago

  • @Scritchy21 YES

  • ahahahahahaha you shityourself

  • did his reserve get tangleled?

  • What do you think?

  • i think that too, the sky diver is a bit crazy though. do you know Brianna Banks personally?

  • thats just dumb.

  • Cubano idiota

  • This is God telling him to find another hobby

  • Cos us english have the best swearwords!

    ****************

y did he speek english and then foreign ...??

    hollaplayer07 (2 months ago) Sh

  • also you survived a line over with a double malfuction. go to a church.

  • lucky lucky LUCKY BASTRARD. I didn't jump yet but i know in this case you "cutoff, pull reserve"

  • he did, which is to get in a messy little catfight with your lines. Still an idiot though.

  • Oops, half a sentence. Didn't mean to post that.

  • He did. His reserve entangled with his main, which was still twisted round his leg. Not a hell of a lot you can do about it apart from exactly what he did, which is to get in a messy little catfight with your lines. Still an idiot though.

  • he was fucking himself before that happend. (i don't know if this expresion exists in english, but it does in greek)

  • @gamotonfasismo

Kai poia einai akrivws h ekfrash sta ellinhka?

  • @1987Legion1987 φιλε παει ενας χρονος δεν θυμαμαι τι εννοουσα. μαλλον κατι σε γαμιοταν.

  • F#ck, sh#t... May i have the new pants, please?

  • Fucking Idiot, why the hell did he do that ?

I hope they took his license away from him !

  • you wery lucky stupid

  • that guy has to be given an award those malfuctions are dangerus and some may say to cut hes lines, its very easy to cut the wrong line in that situation, that guy is lucky to walk out of there.

  • dumb bitch, whoever you are!

  • He just apologises for not recording someone else's jump because his first parachute malfunctioned...see you at the airport.

  • lol hes not very brainy for doing that i was laughing at the fact he fucked up his backup shoot 2 but he shoulda at least of broke one of his legs or sumthing the impact he took would be the equvilent to me jumping off a 3 storie carpark with a binbag as a parachute lol

  • shit ... shit ... shit ... More luck than brain

  • one lucky dude to walk away from that one.. one good thing to remeber all you skydivers out there.. is to take a second and think.. normally you have the time to do so. if you have a un-landable main.. cut it away.. go back into freefall(unless very..very low) belly to earth.. get your airspeed up and deploy the reserve into nice clean air.. will open much quicker and nicer. generally a safer plan.

  • He had no options, his main didn't clear an he was low. He deployed his reserve and it stayed in the free bag he did well getting it out. He screwed up badly causing this, but IMHO he did well from the chop onwards, I don't agree with armchair skydivers who think he should have spent the rest of his life clearing his main or fumbled around and gotten his hook knfe out and cut the lineover on a reserve at 100 ft. Altitude awareness is imperfect when shit happens and he did well.

  • Lucky motherfucker landed on the GRASS!! lmao

  • y did he speek english and then foreign ...??

  • IDIOT IDIOTTTTTTTTTTT LOL

  • it made me laugh

  • he looks like guy from BOOM HEADSHOT! :D

  • lol....fps Doug?

  • wow is all I can say

  • I hope it was your last jump forever!!

  • SHIT, Fuck, SHIT!!!!! OOHHHHHHH

  • hahahahahahahaha, "SHIT FUCK, OHHHHHHHHH"

  • what pisses me off is how he released his toggles with his lines still a mess. further, he shouldve had a hooknife to free that lineover...

not only this guy, but every skydiver can learn from this video.

  • You mean on his reserve? No time to hoo knife that lineover and there are several stories of skydivers cutting the wrong lines, that's a dangerous thing to try on your reserve even if it does have a lineover. After his screwup he did well surviving it. Getting his reserve out of his D-bag was heroic, there are very few skydivers who would have survived that IMHO, so I'm not inclined to critique his subsequent actions. He survived a malfunction that would have killed > 95% of skydivers IMHO.

  • corrections "hook knife" and "free-bag"

  • hasta la victoria siempre

  • He couldn't let the handclapping out didn't he ?

  • "did he" sorry for the double post

  • I think the title is incorrect: this is a triple malfunction (starting with a mental one)

  • I think the impact messed with his circuits a bit lol!

  • ... indeed :D thats funny :D

  • the thing that confuses me the most, is why is he cursing in english the whole way down, and then starts speaking some other language?

  • he's doing video for a tandem in a latin american country...not rocket science.

  • holy crap man, that is prob one of the most terrifying jumps ive ever seen. nic ejob keeping your head about you, id prob be saying the same things in that situation

  • let me guess low jump numbers, and a bit of a show off? lucky to be alive you idiot

  • Bloody lucky - at least he kept his head to try and untangle himself from his reserve when most people would have totally flipped.

  • slowmotion the 38-40 moment and u will see how close he was to the ground.

    MAN...HES LUCKY!

  • what injuries did you sustain, if any???

  • holy shit, you lucky b....

that'll be the last time you try that....

  • Damn Chris! Is this what you do in Puerto Rico now??? Your a lucky bastard.

  • ooooooooommmmmmmmmmmggggggggggggg that was insane! Truly Terrifying jump !

  • "wooo go adam shit" lol

  • what t.ffff happend? the other guy speaking at the end interfere during the fall?

why he suddenly started rolling and whiping?

  • I am just amazed that he landed that thing. That was an incredible recovery.

  • Lol fucking great relief moan when he hits the ground, feel that.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE GOD IKNOW WE HAVNT SPOKEN MUCH LATLY BUT IF YOU LET ME LIVE ILL COME TO CHURCH EVERY WEEK ........... would be wot i was sayiny on the way down......or maybe AARGGGG IM GONA FUCKING DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • go to church every week???? i prefer the second option/words. XD

  • If you're not an experienced jumper then STFU, you don't know what you're talking about. We've all done something questionable in our jumping careers. This guy actually did everything else RIGHT. A line/body entanglement on a high performance canopy goes very bad, very fast. This guy did a major slam dance with the reaper, and was cool enough to apologize to his video client! Expletives expected!

  • why did he not relise a reserve chute?

  • ahhhhhhahahaahahaah

  • he missed the runway .. lol

  • Man, what a lucky dumbass! Let's hope that he learned from this stunt .... about what NOT to do.

I'd say some PLF lessons are in order! The tall grass won't save his ass next time (and statistically, there will be another 'oh shit, oh fuck' landing if he keeps up with the antics).

  • Then the stupidity genes will be prevented from passing on to the next generation. =D

  • Lucky son of a gun!))))

  • OH yea Im reeeeeeeely going to try that one...

  • Lucky..very..Looks like you got 8 out of your 9 lives left.

You did really well to get out of that most others would be gone.

  • U're joking right?? This guy shouldn't even be with a camera, he didn't check his canopy, didn't disconnect, got desperate fighting with the lines. Most others wouldn't even be in that much trouble! If it was my DZ he would be suspended.

  • Didn't "check his canopy" WTF? He was getting his ASS kicked by his canopy. He clearly did cutaway but had a line caught somewhere (probably his left leg, judging by the video). His reserve might have been deployed by the entangled lines or his AAD might have fired, but he actually did everything right! "Most others" wouldn't have even survived.

  • Stupid dipshit!!!!!!!!!!

  • If you listen closely, you can almost hear him push the ass clown button before he does a flip.

  • Skydiving IS NOT DANGEROUS - Being Stupid IS - NUM NUT!!!!!!!

  • We all try stupid things at some point in our jump-life. Rob, glad God put his hand out and opened that chute for you. By all means, you should have been dead but for His Grace.

Glad you survived it Bro. Blue Skies.

  • stupid DUMBASS tried doing a backloop under his main parachute....his lines got tangled and he started spinning like mad so he cutaway and pulled his reserve. his main got tangled with his reserve and so he started his ride of death to earth. luckily his main broke free from his reserve. there was still a malfunction with he reserve when he landed but luckily the stupid Spaniard landed in nice tall grass so he survived. technically: he should be dead but he got EXTREMELY lucky.

  • wait, he did a little backflip under his chute? is that it? why the hell did he do that?

  • To look cool on video.

  • what an idiot, he is so lucky

  • Respect for getting out of this mess. Looks like the main got stuck on your leg. Not many people would have walked away after having their reserve in their hands. Awesome job in getting it to inflate.

No hook knive available to cut the line over?

  • I don't know if you want to go swinging a hook knife at your reserve lines at 800'

  • Why not? Cut the line over away and you'd be fine (assuming that you get it done in time). As I already stated it's damed good to stay that cool...

  • Why not? Ever try to pick out the 1, 2 or more lines in a line over and ensure that those are the only 750lb microlines that you are cutting...Then do that at -800'? If you at a couple thousand maybe, but if your wrong .....

  • Last words: Shit

  • last word was fuck

  • I don't really know the sport, could someone explain exactly what happened here? Is the blue chute the reserve? Where is the double-failure?

  • The blue chute is the reserve. After the trouble with the main, he cutaway and pulled the reserve, but the main couldn't fly away because of the tangle and it interfered with the reserve. The double-failure is that after cutting away and pulling the reserve, he still did not have a good canopy (Meaning, it was not Square, Stable, and Steerable). That's why he is so lucky to be alive--it was very possible that he could have ended up with no chute at all, and free-fallen all the way to the ground.

  • massive idiot

  • bi paratüştünün başına gelebilecek en kötü şeylerden biri bu, ölmemesi çok büyük şans

  • dumb beaner!

  • You are so bad

  • oh my god! i was thinking of sky diving till i saw this messy tool jump!

  • Don't let this fool sway you. He was under a perfectly good canopy, then tried to do a backflip through his risers, which cause the malfunction...haha, What a clown.

  • i have to say, do you know what the hell you are doing....

  • lucky

  • you must pray for to be alive, this is very dangerius

  • well done walking away from this one, dude.

  • What he said. Anna (or something like that)... I'm sorry I couldn't film your landing... but I had a problem with my 1st chute (meaning main)... I will see you in the airport.

  • Nice translation but i think he said "Angel" instead "Anna", also if you hear at the end, he add "brother" so the message is for a man.

By the way this guy certanly is not mexican or any other country were spanish is first language. Probably USA hearing his accent.

  • Man this dude hit the ground so hard that now he only speaks spanish and can't revert back to English...

  • Thank God for tall vegetation.

  • Did this dude break his legs?

  • this guy is a stupid fucking moron...he asked for it...makes skydivers look bad, even though we're not.

  • Could have been worse. He could have landed on the runway pavement instead of the tall spungie grass

  • The two most common famous last words uttered by pilots are "oh s***," amazingly enough, not screamed, but sort of helpless resignation. Source: cockpit voice recorders

  • He made his mistake, for sure...but on the scale of stupidity he's still somewhere near the bottom. Bet he never felt better to be back on the ground though :-)

  • source: geeks
