  • Um... Barnard only compared his diet to the ADA-recommended, pharmaceutical company-sponsored diet full of refined carbs and sugars.

    Barnard's own research study lowered HbA1c from 8.05% to 7.71%. That's not reversal. "Normal" HbA1c is 4.6% to 5.4%.

Compared to low-carb diets his diet fails diabetics. In all studies of low-carb vs. low fat (even vegan) diets for diabetes, low-carb is dramatically better.

Recent japanese studies lowered HbA1c by 3.6 percent. Barnard lowered it 1/10th that...

  • fyi, his diabetes improved because he lost weight, not due to the diet. It's well known visceral bodyfat leads to metabolic syndrome then type II diabetes.

He mentions is total cholesterol is lower. I'll bet his trigs went up. I'll also bet his cholesterol ratio is WORSE even though total went down.

also, how come there's only ONE success story from Neal Barnard?

  • He'll be a vegan the rest of his life. So maybe that's maybe ten more years? I've been vegan, been macrobiotic, and I was amazed at all the dental problems those people had. Eat only meat and veggies now (no legumes, no grains) and have no plaque, no mouth odor, no cavities, no abscesses, no perio disease. PS. I'm a dentist.
