good for you Christie. What's sad is most folks don't realize that Scn tech is a wonderful thing, but the Scn org is not. A lot of us would still be in Scn if it became a society of equals & not a dictatorship. Best of luck and don't let all the negative comments get you down . (by the way, good TRs, I totally got your communication)
ROFL! Remember that time when everyone thought (the media included) thought "scientology" was a counter-cultural and they believed it to actually follow the tnants of scientific discovery? Lmao, and people criticize Catholicism? Dedicating your life for a billion years... ROFL!
It's all about faith, after all, isn't it? Religion is about dogma, created and changed by people, to their needs. Faith is about the spirit, never changing. You are a courageous young lady and I applaud you for your insight.
the comment by pills54 makes no sense... personal "spirit" often becomes relativism, which is the pure definition of changing to fit ones needs... again, your comment is ALMOST as silly as scientology.
what a wonderful goal in life, to join an organization that tells you that you cannot get pregnant. church? punished by not speaking to you? cry me a freakin river. faith? what fiath? le me get my violin out and play you a sad freakin song.
This woman needs to disconnect from Scientology competely. There's a great vid here on youtube called "Scientology & Sataism" on the Good Fight Ministries Channel. L Ron Hubbard was "good friends" with known Satanist Aleister Crowley. Hubbard adopted many of Crowley's beliefs. Basically Scientology is Satanism with a more platable name.

@ReliableInsider I agree. But Scientology is no different than most religions. They practice fear based tactics to "help" you decide to believe what they do. How can there be "free will" if the alternative to living how they want you to is burning in hell for eternity? People need to wake up and leave organized religion completely. Just look at the Catholic church. Almost bankrupt from molestation payoffs. You dont need a church to have a relationship with god. All you need is your beliefs.
I think people can believe what they want, as long as its a personal relationship with their "god". Your beliefs are yours alone, just like everyone else. The problem begins when people think their beliefs are better than anothers and try to force their beliefs on them. Thats why there are so many religions, no one can decide on everything and come to an agreement. They just create a new religion that reflects their beliefs and morals. Is that the word of god?
So being a "religion" gives them the right to beat and imprison its members??? This is much worse then Jonestown. Scientology is like Jonestown in space.
What religion has an "Office of Special Affairs" composed of lawyers, private investigators, top church officials and "inner circle" members, that has access to as many millions of $ as it needs to intimidate and harass anyone who speaks out publicly about the abuses they suffer?
Unfortunately, the true victim here is the child. Used as a loophole to get out of a contract, and now having to grow up with divorced parents, this poor child is starting in the negative. I pray he/she turns out ok because his/her parents failed him/her.
A very insightful video of the pull that a "religion" like Scientology has on a person. The fear of being disconnected from family is echoed in those who leave the LDS Church, Jehovah's Witnesses, the Amish and other tightly organized groups. Christie's desire to keep the faith outside the organization is a trend also occuring in evangelical Christianity, as many believers forsake church membership and press on in the faith either alone or in loose-knit fellowships. Very sad about the divorce.
She did her husband a great service by letting him divorce her. I wouldn't touch this poor mentally I'll women with a ten foot pole. It's a perfect example of someone who is searching for happiness because they can't find life in general happy. Look to the sky for answers instead of loving the people around you. I wonder if she wears magic underwear like the Mormons?
I pray that someday she'd desire to really seek spiritual independence instead of just separation. Reliance on personalities and institutions will continue to rob her of the life she instinctively is aware of.

There is no religion on earth that shuns or ostracizes people for resigning from the church hierarchy.
Scientology is not a religion.
The idea of Scientologists shunning their own family members (even a sister who is still a Scientologist!) is appalling.
It's just a con operation that's terrified of having its cover blown so it abuses its own members.

athiog,
People need to wake up and leave organized religion?
Do you think organized religion has gone astray or are you opposed to religious belief itself?
I've seen a lot of people on YouTube who seem to be actively promoting opposition to all religion. A kind of atheist evangelism.
On the one hand, I support all evangelists for any religion if they are sincere and not just con artists in it for the money.
And yet, I'm not sure that evangelizing for atheism isn't a contradiction.

Because _one_ of the atheist arguments is, "Why is everybody spending so much time on religion? Don't we all have better things to do?"
Maybe everyone should just live and let live.
I can't imagine how devout Christians and passionate atheists could ever have any influence over one another whatsoever.
Unless it's some particular political issue on which people might be willing to be flexible.

This is an excellent and revealing video, as was the original NYT article which is a great piece of socially responsible journalism.
it is good to expose frauds and cult dangers as it means fewer eventual victims. Many thanks to new York Times journalists and editors. Kudos.
