He was the master of the blade of the 21th. century as Miyamoto Musashi was in the feudal time of Japan, He was the master and I must say he deserves the title as "Master of the blade" May he rest in peace.
RIP Bob, you helped to create the Star Wars franchise and make it as big as it is today, and have such a huge impact on western culture as it does. Even though you weren't credited in the movie credits, the true nerds of this world will remember you!
How can you even do this clip and not mention the BEST SWORDFIGHTING in movies ever? - Much as I loved Viggo's fencing - especially after it had improved a bit on LOTR- he really doesn't hold a candle to Inigo Mantoya - or Wesley/The Man in Black. The choreography of which has to be Bob Anderson's best work and really I'd put "arguably" there except I doubt anybody who's actually seen the movie would bother to argue. All hail the master.
A very good point... Carey Elwes and Mandy Patinkin certainly showed Bob Anderson's masterful work... and you have to give credit to Rob Reiner for knowing who to get to help him get it right! :)
You really can't compare the type of sword fighting in LOTR and Princess Bride. PB was a one on one fight with epee's and LOTR was a fight-for-your-life battle with broad swords...completely different. In war, there's no time for the delicate dance we saw in PB.
1) we are talking MOVIE fights. Of course I can compare them.
2) never lecture a fencer - or probably anybody - about fencing styles it's irritating we can tell they're holding different swords and so the technique is going to be different (even if it's not appropriate to the weapon they're holding)

R.I.P Bob, a true gentleman and genius swordsman, and thank you Mark Hamill for bringing him to our attention in 1983.
For a little while he was Darth Vader, but he spent most of his life as "Yoda" to very many grateful fans and actors.
The fact that he was still working in his 80’s reflects on how irreplaceable he is.
A legend has passed away...

I was just reading some stuff on wiki about LotR when I stumbled on article about him saying he died just yesterday. So sad,
