Dale Earnhardt is the Chuck Norris of Nascar. If any other driver flips the middle finger it would be a fine. But Dale is allowed to do that. Kurt was probably thinking "OMG! Dale just flipped me off. That's so cool! He hates me! I'm so excited! The itimidator knows who i am and gave me the bird and didnt give the rest of you the bird nah nahnah nah nah nahhhhh!"
Ward Burton was my favorite driver before he stopped racing and I remember watching this race thinking he really had a chance to win the 500. He led 52 laps which was the most that day before he got caught up in the big wreck. Then he came back the next year and only led the last 5 laps or so and won. Go figure.
yea he started making a huge comeback in 2000 and finished 2nd in points and i think it's safe to say he would have been a factor in 2001 if he hadn't lost his life in this race
Kurt Busch and Dale Earnhardt Sr. touch. This was the only the fourth time they raced together. Kurt Busch of course would later be 2004 champion. Although even if someone told me I still wouldn't believe it...

That's some mighty fine road raging there, Dale.

Only Earnhardt would do that, only the Intimidator would ever have done that. Giving a rookie The Bird on National Television.

Dale Sr. drove so well in this race. What a terrific season it would've been, surely a threat for the championship if he hadn't crashed.

Three of a possible five rookies running in the top ten at this point. It's a shame they couldn't stay there at the end.
