You can tell how far Dirk has come. His fundamentals in this video are borderline atrocious. He actually seems like a better dribbler than shooter, finisher, or rebounder in this one. That's not to say that he wasn't a good high school player, but if you took the skills/abilities of current Dirk and put them in that high school body, he would murder those kids. It's pretty clear he wasn't doing that.

Wow, yeah man, that is so funny.

The point is that he was a pretty bad player in high school and it's remarkable how far he's come. Compare him to say, LeBron, Kobe, or... hell, even someone like Kendrick Perkins who were actually good in HS... I wouldn't think this kid would be an NBA player.

Furthermore, there are lots and lots of high schoolers who you could give Dirk's talents, and they would still suck or be mediocre because their size isn't what Dirk's is/was.

Yeah, I'm kinda with you on that one, but not all the way. I mean, I think he's still a pretty good dribbler (watch the Sophomore/Rookie Game Dirk footage to see an example). But really I think it has more to do with his change in style of play rather than his height. He really only dribbles when it's advantageous to him, which isn't that often.

I guess my point was more that his shooting is pretty bad in this. I know it's just 2 minutes, but the shots don't have any fundamentals in them, imo.
