But now it seems that the Malaysians are getting more and more educated, maybe the time has come to liberalize the country. Maybe Mahathirs method of divide and rule is the only way, because this is what the people want...The chinese wants their own school, language and etc and so as the indians. What are we complaining now? ITs just that after 50 years, UMNO has become too corrupted and needs to be cleaned up. How to do that? i'm not sure but definitely not with NajIB

Well said. He might have developed the country but surely was not responsible enough. He did not have a good succession plan and left the country to be run by Abdullah Bdwi. A good leader would have had a plan before leaving. He made enough money for himself, his sons, and cronies. Mahathir is a greater magician than a leader to make money disappear in the country and some malaysians still are his die hard fans.

You see 90% of our political leaders are crap, no quality both on BN and opposition side.
There are really pressing issues:
Crime - People are fucking dying like flies if nothing is done about it, people are going to arm and protect themselves and take out ANYONE who stops their self defense including the useless police.
Suppliers - The oil price is down 2/3 from the peak and still sundry goods have not come down. Why ? wholesaler crooks are controlling the price, go an do something about it.

That was my point there about GM! I was discussing with Mr Teq that even GM had to be bailed out by US gov even they've been in the industry for more than a hundred years! Proton is relatively young. So, there's no need of going around and yelling stupid at people while we can sit and talk.

Chinese hold most of the Malaysian economics. If Malays didn't maintain their political power, the stability of this country would be volatile. We cannot allow any civil war to happen. We've been doing relatively well over the past 50 years. Peace is very important and it is more vital than money.

Over the past years, our country was still young. Thus, we need sort of a wise autocratic leadership which can tell and delegate people on how to do this and that. But now it seems that the Malaysians are getting more and more educated, maybe the time has come to liberalize the country. But, the problem is Malaysians like Dr M said are still confined by racial political systems, thus the transformation needs to be done step by step and not too sudden.

I dont agree with you on all level. He did contributed lots to Malaysia. But, honostely, for example, Proton is not a brand that we can be proud of. It almost went bankrupt for couple of times, not until strategic alliance with the big automobile occurs, such as Lexus and Mitsubishi.

Proton is doing good. 30 years in automobile industry, it seems like they've achieved considerably well. Don't say you want to compare Proton with BMW, that's absurd. About Proton almost went bankrupt, maybe you should read some news on GM in the US. LOL. The US Senate refused to bail out GM and White House still urged GM to be bailed out. GM is almost dead. You know how big GM is.

That is exactly the mindset that never spur us forward. 'Cant compare Proton with BMW'. I know the US bailout on GM. But in this instance, GM is not owned by the Government, Proton is. Just imagine if Proton is 100% public own and run, I would imagine in will be closed down by 2000. Back home, you read all the wonderful news in Proton. But my friend, in Australia, Proton was voted the worse commercial car for 3 years running, just behind Daewoo.

LOL. Not as bright as you are. My field is engineering but I took an economic class with one of the finest economist in the US. So, I learned a lot from him. Free market is good but even the US government had their hand in the market sometimes if things got out of control. Recent examples: Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and GM.
