@PaulThe123 The noise you here is what me and all my friends did at the same time that noise sounded off... It was the sound of an old BEER can tab top opening and then the pouring of the BEER... it was one of our favorite parts of the album...Old beer cans back in the day had i ring top pull tab, and a seam on the side...this was before the aluminum can.....
@PaulThe123 Man the late sixtys and the seventys were the Best time for ALL kinds of Music......( my opinion ) I wish you could have enjoyed those years also, My Friend......
Amazing song from the year I graduated, yet never noticed it back then. Incredible flute by Andrew Latimer.
My tribute to our great musicians is an ever-expanding music history channel with over 500 playlists so far. My lists feature most genres & cover the globe. 111 lists let you hear the music of any year since 1900, like this 1974 track, as if you've stepped back in time. Each year playlist tell which of 300 artists each have their own playlists.
To Mamaste91: It means something like "may the blessings of the master bring grace and loving energy all around you in your journey". I believe that music is a manifestation of the best in human beings.
To Namaste91: Ididn't mean the singing was bad (though not special either), just that Camel's lyrics are lightweight. Listen to the lyrics of the first tier progrock bands; Tull, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Yes. With better lyrics and a standout lead singer, I believe CAMEL would have reached the same level of recognition and following. Sadgurunath Maharaj Ki Jay!
@curtnevan Hm,that is a point. "Hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way" sounds much better than "Through the skies, his white horse flies,
To find a land beyond the night " . I haven't listen so much to the lyrics, more to the voices.. That "relieves" me ;D
"Sadgurunath Maharaj Ki Jay" means? because i don't speak hindu, i 've chose my profile name after the welcome adres and thats one of the few words i know.
This was the first cut I ever heard from Camel. I went right out and bought MIRAGE. The original Album cover had a fantastic graphic of a Fantasy camel holding a giant crystal. So cool ! The only reason they never made it as big as YES was because their lyrics were lame and vocals nothing special. Their instrumentals are super.
feel blessed for being from the few that know this incredible prog band. not even the big prog fans that think that they know all can appreciate it.

seriously underpreciated prog rock band, despite being one of the pioneers!

Thanks for the right info. You should see the U.S. cover, though. It's pretty well done in a "sorcery/fantasy/sci-fi" kind of way.

No this is the original cover. You must be talking about the US release which they were forced to change the cover for by the Camel tobacco company.

Funny thing, this was also MY first cut i ever heard from Camel. Mirage is one of the most important prog albums ever,in my opinion.
But with the lyrics/voices i must contardict you: Just take a listen to
"Nimrodel/The Procession/The White Rider"great vocal work on great instrumentals!
Best wishes from Germany
