The funny thing is...I used to have early releases of both Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles...in Sonic 3, when Robotnik grabbed my Super Sonic all he did was bounce...no rings lost. And my Sonic and Knuckles had Hyper Sonic called Super Duper Sonic. They were very early releases of the games, they must have updated them later on.

there is another giant ring in the beginning of the stage to get it after you go down the first elevator fall down with the platforms and when you are in the water go to the left and jump over the spring to go to a (former) secret room with a big ring.

I could answer that. When sonic is at Super Sonic Mode Super Sonic is not that strong unless if you saw Sonic's Quest for Power Sonic is invincible. Well everybody body everything and every powerful living thing has weak points.

So You See even sonic in Super Sonic Mode even has his limits

Actually, the Super Sonic ring loss thing is essentially a glitch. They correct it in S3&K, where SS can still be grabbed, but will just bounce off the ground harmlessly when he gets slammed.

Its a grab move. Which is understandable. This is Ivo's final robot. He saw Super Sonic. So he made the robot strong enough to grab Sonic [aka: Sega didn't put a code for Super Sonic when Ivo would grab you.]

Also Super Sonic or not getting thrown into the ground will hurt.

you need sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles together, after you complete sonic 3 you go through the sonic and knuckles story and you enter rings to get the 7 super emeralds, which allows tails, knuckles and sonic to enter their hyper forms.
