  • what kind of a game is this ?!? ... they should play naked to make it more interesting.

  • You have to wonder how they can be going on about the 3 ball when the 7 ball that was the first ball pocketed was sitting on the table. Reyes owed a ball and the 7 ball was spotted. Does it get any easier?

  • shannon "the cannon" REYES

  • @searspunch you stole my comment!

  • what a great match... this is about as good as it gets... i love one hole

  • i watch this video once a night! loveit! learn it! study them!

  • The reason it takes so long is that you never want to give the opponent a chance to start a run. That is why the shots for the first 30 minutes were all defensive (putting the cue ball near the other shooter's pocket.) You want unobstructed balls near your pocket so when the other player sells out you can run out.

  • the commentators were going on about the ball being counted for the wrong side, but weren't they forgetting about the intentional foul that efron made and he owed a ball, or am I wrong here?

  • This is a great match! I love the game of one pocket because it is so much more challenging for me than 9-ball or 8-ball. Anyways, it is pretty crazy to see Efren take a loss..

  • Watch the movie "Turn the River" for a little better understanding of the game. Although the movie is obviously made under the assumption that everybody understands "one pocket", it makes it a little clearer. After that, look up "one pocket rules" on Yahoo! or your favorite search engine. It's really not that difficult to understand....

  • @bluesruley2k...Ok..I take that back....I have absolutely NO idea what they are doing here!

  • 5 people don't understand the rules

  • I'm reading Carpenter's Hard Rain Falling and I'm wondering what one-pocket is. YouTube is very useful for questions like this. It's making more sense now.

  • @carneyfex ... Like the 8 ball IPT tour format. 9 ball is televisable because of its short races. In a game of one pocket, it could take hours.

  • @carneyfex i totally agree with you that 9 pool is rubbish. As an amateur player like myself, I play it for the fun factor but for professionals its rather low, and winning short race 9ball tourneys isn't the basis of great skill and talent. That's why players like Reyes would sometimes easily lose. If all the balls pocketed in 9 ball, including the 9 on the break are called in, then and only then that I will have respect for the game. I'd rather prefer 8ball, long races, round robin matches lik

  • i love it when the commentator stutters (his only job is to talk and he cannot do it right) and the MC is like a mummy...it is a shame that great matches like this can be ruined by the "extras"

  • Great shot at 15:00.

  • What kind of game is this??? CAN'T UNDERSTAND IT :( :(

My 1st time seeing this? What are the rules for this?

  • @ljcayie it is called "one pocket". at break time, a player picks one of the lower two pockets as his pocket. the objective of the game is to make 8 balls in "your pocket" before your opponent makes 8 in his. a ball made in your opponent's pocket counts as a ball for them.

if a ball is made in the other four pockets, it gets spotted back.

if a foul occurs, you spot one of your balls. if you have none, you will "owe" one.

  • @ljcayie if you make a ball in the same time as committing a foul, that ball spots, and you still have to spot one of your own.

a ball must contact the rail after the cue ball strikes a ball. sometimes people take intentional fouls so they do not give their opponent a shot.

  • It's a good thing there are no moronic snooker fans posting on this vid. Always bragging how snooker is far superior, when the only thing they know about pool is 9 ball. These ignorant idiots should watch and play 1 pocket and probably use their brains for a change.

  • @gumaming Well, I consider myself a snooker fan, but I would concede that straight pool or one pocket (or many other flavours of pool!) require insane amounts of skill, as much or more than snooker. Too bad that the only pool game that gets any reasonable amount of coverage is the nine pool, which, in comparison, is child's play (and rather rubbish).

  • apa maksdunya nih??

    bangga lah??

    kada pahamm akuu..... pukiiiii

  • 1st game, the 3 ball... Efran owed a ball so one went up...

  • 1st game, the 3 ball... Efron owed a ball so one went up...

  • what were they doing when he was spraying dust (?) all ovre the table

  • @anphelps27 i agree with everything you just said *sigh* but, Im proud to be one of the lesser statistics

  • @migusoto3 anyway, weak players know that they can go to a poker game and win nice amount of money in short time even if they know they are bad players..

  • At 1:12:00 they show him as Shannon "The Cannon" REYES. When they show who won the game.

  • one pocket! yes!

    I just learned a lot.

  • Minnesota Fats was known for his one-ball genius.

  • Haha, at 2:22:47 is says "Shannon 'The Cannon' Reyes - WINNER." Talk about a typo...

  • one pocket kid u r clueless, saying incardona cant execute is ludicrous,1 reason,he was considered the best in the world in the 70 s and two,go gamble with him if u think he cant play

  • one pocket kid u r clueless, saying incardona cant execute is ludicrous,1 reason,he was considered the best in the world in the 70 s and two,go gamble with him if u think he cant play

  • These commentators are kind of goofy--they keep forgetting which pocket belongs to whom, and they aren't sure if someone made a ball or not, and they keep saying, "play cue ball" instead of "play position." But, great match!

  • these guys must live a boring life

  • Why does billy incardona know everything but cant perform for nothin. He sounds like a therapist or something...he uses way too many words to describe the smallest things. but THUMBS UP to the match!

  • My name is Mike from LA Although there busizz4me.info

  • I've never heard of one pocket before, but this is bloody brilliant. A tactical minefield, with rising tension before a release of fireworks. I'll have to give this game a go...

  • I think the commentator are bias of the way Efren is playing and praising Daulton in every shot he makes. Everybody gets a bad day and should not be hammered for that and this what this idiot commentator are doing.

  • @wizrun1 I dont think they are but Efren is a professional player. He is one of the best in the world and to see him mess up fairly routine shots is uncharacteristic for him. I also am a fellow one pocket player and you just cant make mistakes that he made. It would be ok at my level cuz im not that great.

  • What an awesome display of one pocket

  • great billy incardona story!

  • well i find one pocket very boring before, but now that i understand the rules, this game is something and pretty interesting, i am enjoying every minute of this match not like before. Can't wait to try this game although im not that good in chess games!

  • what are the rules here, doesent look like "normal" pool

  • @gix500 this is one pocket pool, google it

  • shit dude this is crazy!. im still a beginner playin with a 20$ walmart stick at local bars with my buddy, and this stuff is rediculous. Love it though.

  • Man o' man! This was some world class one-pocket!!

  • Only pool players understand what is going on here. It is a shame that pool is dead. It used to be that pool halls is where you would go if you wanted to gamble a bit. Then poker became popular and pool quickly died. The amatures that play poker will fire a few hundo at a pro, but no one will bet a dollar anymore in a pool game. Just an example of how lazy kids today are. Pool takes a lot of time and dedication and no one plays. Cards takes luck and evry1 thinks they r pro.

  • @anphelps27 exactly. i love pool, it requires thinking, is fun, rewarding, and allows you to socialize. don't get me wrong, I like poker too, but it's just not as fun, when all you're doing is thinking.

  • @anphelps27

you can be the best pool player in the world and die broke, the kids moved to where the money is, and I agree that every one thinks there pros but thats why poker is still going strong. poker also takes a lot of time and dedication but your reward is way better then pool. win the us open or win the main event?

  • @GypsieChris Poker and pool are not even close to the same. Poker is luck and you can win after playing cards for a week, as pool it takes a few years. Why in pro poker tourneys half of the pros are knocked out. That has never happened in pool.

  • @anphelps27 Poker does have a luck factor yes but having enough money to out run the varience and playing games that you have a edge in is long term winning poker. I understand a random is never going to win the US open but i just feel pool is to much of a grind now days.

  • @GypsieChris For sure brother. All pool is is a grind and you cant win anything. Everyone want to bet 20 and win 1000. I beat a guy our of 40 bux the the other day and he went nuts, but right after that he went and sat down at the poker game and lost 400 and. (We have a poker game in our poolk hall) I know that there is a skill factor in poker, but the luck factor outways the skill. (not in the long run) The only way the skill factor counts is if you play with the same people everyday

  • @anphelps27 Meh I mean playing with the same players deff helps but doesn't mean thats the only way to have a edge I play online and live tournaments pro/ its just like any other sport takes time and dedication games are still soft and theres still plenty money to be won online and live if you work hard enough gl to you tho

  • @anphelps27

That's true .The masses are becoming dumber these days.

  • @GypsieChris

That's because...no one has the balls to play it.

  • @GypsieChris Ok, let me say it like this. Nothing takes place of experience, but in a game of poker, you can be in a certain position with certain cards and make a play you consider to be correct and win. Repeat that same situation and change ur opponents cards and you could lose. Skill falls into poker when you play with the same people all the time. Going to sit down at a new table, your flipping a coin more or less. THERE IS SOMEONE NEW EVERY YEAR ON TV WINNING SOMETHING.

  • @anphelps27 you wouldn't go to pool halls to gamble cause pool isn't a gamble, amateur player could never beat a pro over a few games or so...in poker idiots can get lucky from time to time, get some money and be happy...but they also can't beat pros over a big amount of hands...stop bullshitting

  • @anphelps27 I have seen players come in and ask for weight. A dollar a game is too cheap for them. They wanna play for $10 or $20 a game. I don't have that kinda money to play or the nerves so that's one reason I no longer gamble anymore. As far as being lazy, I don't call it lazy I call it being smart. Cards are not that easy when you try to figure out the odds if you can win or lose.

  • @hammerknocker31649 You are right man. But what I meant by lazy was something dif. When I learned to play I would go into the room at 1pm and start doing drills for atleast 4-5 hours 3-4x a week. And I was not the only one doing them. When is the last time you walked into a room and saw more than one guy drilling consistently? To some the purpose of gambling is to strictly make $. For me it was to c who could hold up under the pressure. Its not bout how much u have. cont...

  • @hammerknocker31649 A 100 bucks to you might be like 20 to me. It doesnt always have to be money. The point is pressur and really trying to win. A friend and I never gambled for $, we called it humiliation pool. We would play a race to 15 and the loser had to wear a girls bathing suit through the mall or something. Free is you lose, but trust me when I tell u u will try ur hardest. Especially once you lose your first time. U will try so hard every shot, you will be beating people in no time

  • That's true too. But some people take it more seriously than others. I am more of a recreational player and not tryin to make a living off playing. Drills, at our pool hall, where not matter how many, it costs $8/hr. because it's per table not per person. So that gets expensive unless you have your own table. Cards are simpler but I am not trying to make a living on cards either. I just know how to play. So I don't think it's laziness.

  • @anphelps27

Indeed, I totally agree with this comment.

In pool the balls do not make themselves even if there are only two of them left on the

table. In pool for a true "amateur" to beat a pro luck is just no enough, because there is a lot more skill to the game. In contrast to that, in poker I can beat Phil Ivey with 2 7 if I am lucky.

  • @anphelps27 does that make the same 5 people who make it to the world series final table in poker the 5 luckiest people in the whole tournament?... pool is all skill i agree but poker does require skill to an extent

  • @anphelps27 That's why you can make more money at poker if you're good at it. In pool, the suckers don't stay long, but in poker, they win often enough that they stick around despite their low level of skill.

  • @anphelps27 Oh my. I friggen love pool hahah. My half brother who is about 20 years older than me bought me a nice fiber-glass que. I've been playin' pool for a few years now, a junior in highschool. It's fun :D I bet money on suckers (everyday I'm hustlin') :)

  • @anphelps27 Come on down to Southern Billiards in Starkville, Mississippi. Pool isn't dead here =D

  • @anphelps27 umad?

  • That table looks awful small? I know pros only play on 9 foot tables that looks like a 3 and a half by 7 bar table.

  • @buckethead45 r u 4 real ? thats a 9 ft diamond

  • does anybody have a link for DCC One Pocket 2006 Finals between Efren Reyes and Jason Miller, I heard that was a great match?

  • Negative.

  • Watched the first half. So far, Dalton get out of Efren's traps using great imagination and execution. The best example of how to escape traps that I have seen.

  • I play a little one pocket. This is one of the best matches I've ever seen. Reyes is my favorite all time player in cue sports, but you have to hand it to Shannon Daulton. He made some of the most momentum changing shots I've ever seen. The best shots in one pocket to me personally are where you can take multiple balls out of an opponents pocket, because you have to be creative. Daulton played shots that not only moved multiple balls out of Reyes' pocket, but put them in his!

  • "like an obese couple having sex, position is everything" hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahah

  • Jesus, this is the chess of pool games!!!! Like an obese couple having sex, position is EVERYTHING. Thanks for posting this, I heard about it, but seeing it being played out makes understanding the game all the more clear.

  • @ntnrocket If you want to really some some cool shit, get the book "Winning One Pocket." The best book for 1 hole out there, but hard to find and when you find it, plan to pay a few hundo for it, but worth it. And Shannon Daulton is a fat arrogant fuck. I h8 that dude.

  • @ntnrocket Golf pool is even worse from what I've heard. Alot of money won and lost on that game.

  • @rstar88105 ive played golf pool before and im a one pocket player trust me it is really tough. But it is very fun

  • i love to watch this but playing throws my 9 ball game in the damn gutter, im finally getting out of a slump actually because one pocket got me all mental and i forgot to stroke the damn ball and make the shot. Great game but very thinking intensive where 9 ball is more rhythm and stuff.

  • @ntnrocket : hahahah.. agree. battle of brains....chess of pool!

  • that one commentaryguy is doing nothing but trying to convince the other commentator he knows more about one pocketpool.

great movie btw. I now understand the game and it was fun to watch. for more than 2 hrs!

  • "That one guy" you speak of, was a world champ. And made his living playing this game. Now that you understand the game, you should know that!

  • well what I meant was is that he keeps going on in discussions. There is even a point in which the other commentator is very polite: giving him all the respect, respecting his opinion and all that. and the other guy just keeps going, And then the other guy just decides to deescalate by naming all the sponsors!

Ofcourse his opinion is one of the most valuable, since he has been world champion but he should work a bit on commentating TOGETHER.

  • In conclusion: really enjoyed watching and both the commentators since I now understand a fair bit of the game.

  • effren howed a ball so he spotted the 7 instead of the3 thats all ,shannon still had one ball it's all that counts i'm suprised you idiots missed that !.......actually i'm not...............

  • It's been a while since I've seen a closed bridge cue hold. I normally see open bridge techniques. I play snooker so, I've also played 14.1 (Straight Pool), 8 ball, 9 ball, and Carom. I've never played One Pocket I know the rules yet this is my first time watching it.

  • Yeah the 3 ball was made in Efrens pocket but Efren spotted up the 7 ball which was Shannons, no big deal.

  • dont understand this game, weird !

  • Great match, really enjoyed it. Learned alot. Awesome.

  • "He was playing the violin" billy incardona

  • Joey, Billy.....Efren owed a ball,,,,,from when he took a scratch. The three was made in Efren's hole, though.

  • Billy, way to hold your tongue. He sure was overly opinionated most of that match. I'm surprised you didn't tell him off.

  • You have the name: Shannon "The Cannon" Reyes (at the end of the match) Lol! Editing crew, ya dropped the ball.

  • Road name? The only road that Efren can travel without being known is somewhere in the Antarctic.

  • when he first got to the states he had to lie about his name to get money games because everyone was looking out for the unbeatable filipino named efren reyes. all great pool players have road names. bugs rucker, fast eddie, minasota fats, mexican joe, all road names lol

  • Ha! Some of those names are classic. Only in Pool does one find true characters. Remember "Cornbread Red"?

  • amazing one pocket player

  • morales dude.. trust us we know.

  • Cesar Morales

  • yeah..me too

  • pagulayan and parica was the only good one hole vid i could locate until now. This is good stuff :)

  • 1st time to see 2 hours video in youtube

  • Regarding the thing about the 3 ball and the commentators thinking the score was wrong... Efren owed a ball... When he pocketed the 3 ball, he spotted the 7 ball. No big deal. So... Daulton moved the 3 ball to his side and the score is correct.

  • Lol Cesar Romales??? Lol MORALES ya mean haha. Good stuff

  • Congrats EFren Reyes for being the champion of this year's One Pocket Galveston Classic.

  • sound is not matched! i heard reactions before i saw the shot! good match tho

  • Have 2 windows up and play the sound on one as you look at the other. You just have to match the sound with the video.

  • efren played so bad in this match...

    it was too bad

  • Oh yeah One pocket with efren and Daulton, that can't get any better!

    Thz IPm!
