@troykm That depends. The finale "not", this is the Saturday night's finale when Andrew Lloyd Webber is his wonderful stammering uncertain own. Recorded by my daughter.
The DVD-version is from Sunday when he is absolutely groomed, all spontaneity gone and reading from a teleprompter at his feet.
The DVD itself is composed of recordings of the 3 performances as the keen eye of a video-editor, which I have, notices inconsistencies for example in the ballet-sequence of Hanibal.
Ramin is my favorite phantom and Sierra is my favorite Christine. The cast was just perfect. Ramin's voice is as good as Gerard Butler's voice, if not better:)
poor colm, at least he got it on the dvd night which is what counts. i would say it would just be awful if whenever you see yourself on the dvd you come in at the wrong time
@dreamingofastranger That's an easyone. John Owen Jones was not available during the production planning and rehearsals. Ramin was, coming just out of "Love Never Dies" which was unjustly scuttled by RUG.
As an Aussie I m so proud to see Anthony Warlow here, as he deserves to be. I ve been lucky enough to see both him and JOJ, as well as a few others, and I think these two are way, way ahead of the others. I was utterly captivated by both of them, their magnificent voices and the way they could make me alternately love, loathe, and feel the pain and anguish of the Phantom. I would be their Christine anyday!
There were 2 performances, there are 2 vids. In the other the camera angle is different. There are some variations in the other, ie. in the curtain call Webber is wearing a blueshirt (which was the one I saw) in this one he wears a white shirt. Also, in this call, Sarah doesnt come back out, in the other she does. Also the posistions of the phantoms, etc. I make no admission of anything, but there is site where you can download the blue shirt version.HQ,free,no strings,virus@spy free.If u look.
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! Thank you SOOOOOO much for putting this on here! I live in Wisconsin, USA and obviously couldn't make it to the performance but have been dying to see it! And I can't wait till it comes out in February!
@Boyfromthegong I think a good Phantom is characterised by many things ... the necessary voice is one thing, then acting, generosity towards the other artists, humbleness and catching the spirit of "love" ... it's a love story, not with the vicomte, but with the Phantom.
I've seen a very mechanical Phantom in NYC once who went through the lyrics like a machine, it was another play.
Ramin and Sierra were wonderful, would like to see Anthony and JOJ as well. That Swede is going to be a disaster.

@jemmabond Everybody is singing with a mike. The soundsystem in the Albert Hall requires it and otherwise there would have been no sound pick-up for the DVD. Look carefully at Warlow, JOJ, Ramin ... they all have tiny mikes sitting/hidden somewhere.
Sarah just didn't have a portable system, nowhere to hide it with that dress.
wow..cool to see Sarah Brightman..you should add her to your title and tags...this would get you alot more hits/ viewers... excellent video..thanks for posting... Happy Holidays..Kirk..Montreal, Canada

@thephantomofv He couldn't attend Saturday evening as he was performing at the Palladium himself. On Sunday, with no Palladium performance, he was there.
@YamiraSrima His name is Peter Jöback, he's a Swedish singer, considered one of the best in Sweden. Sometime during 2012 he's going to be The Phanom in the London production. Next to Anthony Warlow, John Owen-Jones and Ramin Karimloo on stage he couldn't impress me. I fear he will be a minor Phantom.
I saw the 2004 movie first-before that I had never really heard of Phantom of the Opera. But it was because of that movie that I saw the musical in Vegas, Phoenix, and London, read the original novel, bought 3 different soundtracks, as well as read a bit of Fanfiction...I guess you could say I'm a full blown Phantom Phan, as I'm sure you are too :)
@Indigo9192 u had never even heard of it before really? always been on tv showing the title track and music of the night and fact that was a big hit in broadway and still is confused lol
Its amazing that even after all these years Sarah is still able to hit that last note in the Title song. I know this musical was written for her voice.. but this just shows that Sarah set the bar for all Christine's follow.
@PinkCarnationProDux When watching the production in the Albert Hall closely it becomes obvious that there were differences in dialogue and orchestration as well. I heard things I never heard the actors say or sing neither in London nor on Broadway. The Albert Hall version runs slightly longer than in Her Majesty's Theatre.
Ramin Karimloo played a minor part in the movie as young Christine's father, the violinist Daaé. My guess is he was the only person from the movie's cast on stage that evening.
Does anybody know if anyone from the 2004 Phantom movie cast was invited? I know there is not a hing opinion about the movie, but for many people such as me that was actually the first time I have the oportunity to see the musical at all. And it definitely broought a lots of new fans. So I thought it would be great to have them.
@LuckyBug323 Michael Crawford was tied-up at another show in the East End. He wasn't there on Saturday. On Sunday evening he raced to the Albert Hall and came on-stage under thundorous applause. He didn't sing, I'm assuming because the part was too distant and he couldn't take part in the preparations/dress rehearsal.
What really is amusing is that at "the" musical-event of the year in London in a British play, both lead roles are played by an American (Sierra Boggess) and an Iranian by birth (Ramin Karimloo)
Not that Ramin didn't do a phenomenal job, but I definitely thought JOJ would have been another great choice to play the Phantom in this production. Those 2 and Warlow are my favorites!
@MrSean24601 In the meantime I got the DVD and it's something you just don't put down. The quality is phenomenal. My daughter and I figured we saw some 10 TV-camera's but there must've been 40. Only region-2 dvd though. Region-1 will be March or April.

@PhantomNeverDies123 She probably had to go to the ladies room and needed a gentleman to escort her. But more likely they followed Sarah Brightman to make her come back on stage. Just a guess of course ...
@emilylime2006 There are so many aspects to the Phantom that you can watch it every day and discover new things each time. I wonder if I will be able to make me go to another play some time...
@Evviex It's on the "to do" list. London really isn't that far from here. 2hrs by car to Calais, 35mins in the Chunnel, 90mins to the O2 parking and from there the subway. Slightly over 4hrs with jut the cost for the fuel and the train.
@xian1978 There were a lot of people doing a lot of things, many got carried away by an outstanding performance except for Michael Crawford who fumbled.

I'm watching the DVD right now. Does anyone know why Michael Crawford didn't perform alongside the other Phantoms and Sarah?
Very sweet of Ramin K. to pay homage (or show deference) to the 2 senior Phantoms (MC and CW).
I also liked how MC, Sarah, Sierra, and Ramin all walk out together toward the end, symbolic of Phantom's beginning and its present.
