Just because people were willing to go through a lot in ancient times, doesn't prove Jesus was real. Evidence proves he was real - which of course is clearly lacking. We can dispense with that easily enough - the 9/11 attackers were willing to kill themselves because they 'believed' they would go to heaven. Does their belief sway anyone here? Same thing. In other words, people believe many things. Evidence settles the issue. And no, a book is not evidence, anymore than the Koran is evidence.

Using the Bible to prove the Bible, or religion within its pages is exactly like claiming there is no such thing as fiction, for the written book could be used to prove itself true.
Though some of the stories in the Bible did name some factual people, one should never use that alone to validate everything in it. When a story is published with factual information along with misleading stories, I call it propaganda.

God commanded us to take them outside the camp to seperate them from people in the camp.And the priest who doctored them had to shave off all his hair and wash 7 times with water of purification(soap) before he could return to camp.Again Gods laws are to protect us.

Leprosy really isn't a contagious disease, anyone with an uncompromised immune system is virtually immune to it. The truly amazing thing is that we all know that the Roman Catholic church originated from the Roman empire. But the Roman empire was like a sponge when it came to religion - most of the Roman gods were Greek gods with new names, for example. So I believe in a sense in a spiritual way! Why would all the kangaroos live on Australia? That pair of kangaroos from The Ark must have taken a pretty long trip. Same goes for penguins or polar bears. They are found only in their habitat because that's where they evolved and then had no means to spread. By the way were there dinosaurs on The Ark?

Tribes that breed enough for the population to grow will quickly run out of food and must split up. Why can't a scientists who has invested his whole life into the study of evolution cannot make the things he claims evolved evolve? I mean he can explain how it happened but cannot produce any experiment to make it happen.Therefore in order to believe it it requires blind faith. Me on the other hand can examine Science,medical science,archeology,astronomy,history,bible prophecy,etc and see all kinds of evidence right in the bible.

Let's compare beliiefs. I believe Jesus was a real person who fulfilled all of the prophecies written about him and I believe there were 500 eyewitnesses who seen Jesus rise from the dead. You believe on the other hand that the whole universe came from nothing into something but yet no scientists on earth can make that happen but can explain how it happened. And yet you put your faith in it. I don't because they cannot make anything evolve and cannot create just 1 living cell.

All you atheist have is prove that God exists. @62Elvis The Iliad was written before the Bible and is also full of awesome, interesting, inspiring stories which are also loosely based on factual events but it's still considered fiction which it is. I believe the Bible is a very important piece of literature that should be preserved but not taken literally. It's most certainly not a history book and there are no historical or scientific methods that prove it to be anything more than good allegory.

Just because people were willing to go through a lot in ancient times, doesn't prove Jesus was real. Evidence proves he was real - which of course is clearly lacking. We can dispense with that easily enough - the 9/11 attackers were willing to kill themselves because they 'believed' they would go to heaven. Does their belief sway anyone here? Same thing. In other words, people believe many things. Evidence settles the issue. And no, a book is not evidence, anymore than the Koran is evidence.

Using the Bible to prove the Bible, or religion within its pages is exactly like claiming there is no such thing as fiction, for the written book could be used to prove itself true.
Though some of the stories in the Bible did name some factual people, one should never use that alone to validate everything in it. When a story is published with factual information along with misleading stories, I call it propaganda.

Science says Water vapor is raised up in the sky until clouds become full enough of water and then it rains. Well the Holy Bible says the samething except that it was written thousands of years ago and yet you people just overlook it as a coincidence or something and yet we are all taught about the hydrological cycle of the earth and yet we get this from the bible too.Read Job 36:26-28. This is a true scientific statement in your bible and Job could not have known it without God inpiring him.

He was the source of the hospital practices that you're attributing to the bible. Every claim of scientific revelation by holy books relies on vague interpretations and assumptions that the people of the time were ignorant and that copies were not revised.

@skevoid Also doctors today tell us that if a plague,etc breaks out that people will be quarantined which is exactly what God told us to do with people who have sicknesses that are contagious like leprosy for example. God commanded us to take them outside the camp to seperate them from people in the camp.And the priest who doctored them had to shave off all his hair and wash 7 times with water of purification(soap) before he could return to camp.Again Gods laws are to protect us.

@abelcainsbrother "Water of purification" as referred to in the bible is NOT soap, the literal translation is "sin water", it contains ashes from a sacrificed heifer, among other things. Leprosy really isn't a contagious disease, anyone with an uncompromised immune system is virtually immune to it. On top of these mistakes, my previous post already explained why this 'revealed knowledge' from the bible is not actually showing information that wasn't already known.

@skevoid Yes it is soap you can research jewish history and study about the sacrifice of the red heifer from where soap was made.Although religious jews don't sacrifice anymore you ca still study about when they did.Bible prophecies that jews will bring back animal sacrifices in the last days during the tribulation period and they are going to have to have red heifers to do it.And they will follow the OT laws about sacrifice and make soap to wash themselves before they can enter the temple.

The truly amazing thing is that we all know that the Roman Catholic church originated from the Roman empire. But the Roman empire was like a sponge when it came to religion - most of the Roman gods were Greek gods with new names, for example. So If the source of the xian Church was born from a culture that stole everything, why not assume the same about Christianity? When did the stop inventing religion? Most likely Jesus was invented or borrowed too.

So I believe in a sense in a spiritual way! That's not even taking into account that the human race was mostly confined to Africa, and one severe long drought could wipe out more than half of the population, plus with no knowledge of medicine, disease runs rampant. Prof. Lenski has done a very long running experiment with bacteria where new traits have developed. Dr Jack Szostak with abiogenesis (origin of life) has made some good progress. Its not faith, its the stack of evidence for evolution. Theres no science in the Bible that is beyond what was known at the time.

All you atheist have is prove that God exists. That is a flimsy argument when you are overlooking alot of evidence that proves God's word the Holy Bible to be true.It is up to you to make sure that what you believe is true instead of just saying prove God exists when it cannot be done.It is easier for you to accept evolution which takes alot more faith to believe than what the bible sais when you examine all of the evidence from both sides.And I have and I'm very comfortable in what I believe.

Posted below in these comments I have given all kinds of evidence that enhances our faith in what the bible has to say.I have given all kinds of evidence that is amazing and powerful.Now if it does not change your mind I can't help that.There are plenty of examples of people believing things that they have no evidence for believing it.Well I have evidence that the bible is true while you who shun God do not have any evidence.So all you can do is try to twist the bible and explain away evidence.

Atheists have the highest suicide rate, highest mental illness rate, & the lowest birthrate. These characteristics have one thing in common -- they all tend to 'not produce/sustain life and existence nor conducive to positive mental health.' Using RATIONAL THINKING, my conjecture is that entire universe & every subset of it cannot autonomously bring itself into existence and sustain its own life. The universe/matter/creatures/life draws its inspiration for life & existence ultimately from God.

A QUESTION FOR ALL ATHIEST. If there is no after life what difference does it make to you if a christian believes in a God? If a christian such as myself chooses to "waste" my life believing then when I die what emotions would I experiance or how would i grieve that Ive wasted my life or even begin to realize i did if theres absolutley nothing but a brain and heart that no longer works? Also, wouldnt that make your debate completley pointless if this life had no purpose?

Man and woman were created in the image of God and God is a blood covenant God. @Fortune2point0 I have given example after example of evidence that proves the bible God's word to be true and that is all I need plus I have salvation as proof too. I remember the day I accepted Jesus and got saved.Plus I have the evidence that I present to non-believers. I enjoy it because it is amazing evidence that is right in the bible that people scoff at and make fun of but I know that God has put evidence in it and I just dig it out and it is interesting and not boring.

@62Elvis The Iliad was written before the Bible and is also full of awesome, interesting, inspiring stories which are also loosely based on factual events but it's still considered fiction which it is. I believe the Bible is a very important piece of literature that should be preserved but not taken literally. It's most certainly not a history book and there are no historical or scientific methods that prove it to be anything more than good allegory.

@bobivd6688 You are telling a lie about the bible becaue everyone of the ancient empires them men who wrote the bible grew up in have been proven by history as well as archeology and when you consider that the bible was written by about 5 different men over a span of 1500 years and that they did not know each other and grew up in different empires and yet all of the bible goes together. You can't even study bible prophecy without having both the old and new testament and blending what they say.

So they did'nt know each other and lived in different generations in different empires that history does confirm existed.Egyptian,assyrian,babelonian,medes and persian,greece and roman empire all existed and history proves it.So why tell lies about the bible?

@abelcainsbrother I don't understand where I lied... I never doubted the historical existence of the people who wrote the Bible... I simply said that the "facts" in the book itself are not considered historic facts and have never been proven as such. So what did I lie about?

@bobivd6688 But it is evidence and important evidence that these anceint empires the biblical writers wrote about even kings like King Nebuchadnezar the king of ancient babylon inwhich Daniel interpreted his dreams that troubled him.And in Iraq today archeologists have found evidence with king nebuchadnezar's name engraved.Saddam Hussien was a big time fan of nebuchadnezar and wanted to be like he was. This is evidence.So how could it be a made up story like people often claim about the bible?

@abelcainsbrother The bible clearly teaches that God will judge everybody on judgment day but how could God judge us if his word can't be trusted? Nobody will be able to stand before God and say this part of your word was wrong so therefore I did'nt believe it. I could'nt put my faith in what it said about how Jesus came to save all of mankind by living a perfect life for us who can't and by dying and suffering in our place,for those who would believe and put there faith in him.I doubted it.

@abelcainsbrother First of all that was not our dispute since you actually said I was spreading lies about the Bible but I will ignore that and answer your question instead. Most scholars and historians are sure that the Book of Daniel was written long after the time of Nebuchadnezzar (which is the name you're looking for). I'm not exclaiming it's all lies, I'm simply saying that none of the Bible's contents have ever been considered as historical facts.

@bobivd6688 I know you said that and when I point out how history has proven that Nebuchadnezzar was the king of babylon and had control of Israel and the jews and yet Daniel lived in ancient babylon which was a historical factual place you seem to just shun as evidence.Why would'nt it be considered factual history?And why would anybody choose to believe the book of daniel was written long after the time of Babylon?I mean Daniel is a man of God living in ancient Babylon.

If the events from the Bible were indeen considered historical fact there would be nothing to argue about but they're not. @62Elvis I have read the Bible, cover to cover, more times than I care to think of. I have a different opinion of Paul. I think he saw all the money in the coffers of the Christians he was killing, and changed sides for fiscal reasons.

@ProblemHonorStudent There were over 500 people who were eyewitnesses and seen Jesus crucified and then seen him after he rose from the dead because Jesus visited them.And that message is the root of Christianity and has not changed for 2000 years.If Jesus did not rise from the dead Christianity is a flae religion but it is not. The Bible was not written by these eyewitnesses or anyone who even lived during the time of the event and that's a proven fact. So we don't have any information other the book itself. Well I'm sorry but the Bible does not prove the Bible true, it doesn;t work that way.

The fact christianity spread is far more proof than just saying these eyewitnesses did'nt see,especially when you consider the persecution that they suffered as christianity spread. And we do have documents from roman historians who were former governors in Rome who wrote about christians and how they would not bow to any other god even while being tortured.Tortured?And they did'nt see Jesus?

Yet you say the bible does not prove the bible. Then when evidence is presented it is just explained away. How are you ever going to know the truth if you do this?

@abelcainsbrother no, the bible makes a claim there were 500 witness, totally unproven since there was no first hand accounts and nothing was even writen about the so called resurrection of jesus until decades after the suposed account.all passed down threw were of mouth and we know what happens when things are pas along that way.(ps,the jesus story is just a retelling of horus the egyptian god)
