• This story means slot to me I play softball and am really good at it and I would do anything for good sportsman ship I probably would help anyone out if that happened to them

  • I like this story. I have lots of respect for all three of those girls.

  • Nothing less than a class act was displayed by those two players.

  • Central Power!! My alma mater!!

  • those to people were amazing best softball story ever

  • Such a beautiful story!!!!

  • That was cool. But, what would've been more amazing, would be to see Sarah on her belly; in tears of pain; clawing and dragging her torn ACL injured knee around the bases. Then, everyone bursting into tears as they pick her up at home plate. Now, that's a finish.

  • @ThatguyNice I get that that's probably a more dramatic ending, but she would have to go through more pain, suffer more, and go through much more. This is an amazing story of character, friendship, sportsmanship, and love, and I wouldn't change any part of it, no matter what. It's perfect.

  • this is deep. I think it is so moving because instead of just thinking about themselves or their team versus the other team, they were thinking about the integrity of the game -- fairness -- and their roles in maintaining that value. If only our politicians would have this mentality (instead of the 'winner take all" approach) the USA might just have a chance of digging itself out of the mess we are in. Great job Malory!

  • If everyone in the world were this kind, there would be no problems. I have high respect for those girls, because the same thing has happened to me, but i had to crawl around the bases because no one would help me.

  • there shouldnt even be a dislike button

  • I think Sarah should have got the home run no matter what, she hit it. I would have carried her if I had to!!!

  • dangg. thats seriosly like really good sportsman ship. It takes a real athlete to do something like that . Thats real leadership .

  • I wouldn't do this ever... but hey...

  • HOME RUN!

  • i'd do it too

  • thats what true maturity and leadership is about...

  • They are two outstanding people for doing this.

  • Class is an understatement. You ladies are amazing. A true inspiration. Some things are more important than a win or a loss. To help the opposition in a situation like that, where you could have sit there and done nothing and won the game. Amazing, I don't know what else to say.

  • Things like this always remind me to never give up on this amazing sport no matter how much things may suck sometimes . Thank you <3

  • @WannaBaslugger11

girls shd play naked cept girl softball players always have fat legs

  • @WannaBaslugger11

y r all chic softball players lezzie?

  • you're an idiot

  • @uconnchaz and your a dick for saying that i mean they were helping someone out dont be so rude watch the ellen one they said it wasnt a decision it was the right thing to do

  • This is what a call sportsmanship! This video is a gr8 example!

  • Sportsmanship like this does not conflict with wanting to win the game. The two runners she batted in were in. It cost one run (final score 4-2) and Central could have won in other innings and at other moments and I trusts they fully intended to do so. Letting an injury prevent a home run seems an unlikely rule - the person who said they got the rule wrong on that is hopefully correct. If not, that rule needs to be changed. With an over-the-fence home run a pinch runner adds no advantage.

  • I've watched a few different clips about this story, and I sort of get the feeling Sara is a bit full of herself. In other clips she goes on about this moment "helping" to achieve her "goal" and how hard it was to end her "career," without much expression of thanks to the assisting players. She's a bit nicer here since the interviewer sort of steers her to say it.

Doing something for someone even without being fully appreciated makes what these girls did seem even more significant to me.

  • Beautiful human beings... There is hope for this world if there are more like them among us. Most of human problems come from not being able to recognize the human in our opponent. We need to destroy them in order to win, always... thats not right... But some people just dont see it that way and called this an "act of cowardice" (ycdtotv is one of them)... That is wrong dude... Life is more than just defeating the opponent: it is also about being magnanimous before the fallen ones.

  • Couldn't hav said it better.

  • This is a video and story that needs to be shown in schools. It is something that Athletes need to see and think about. It is very inspirational and is something I hope never happens to an athlete but it does and when it does I hope they help because it means A LOT to the player!

  • ycdtotv, YOUR A DUMB SHIT! You must be the High School hero, just a DUMB SHIT!!!!!

  • GMH. this is such an inspiration! ima tell my team mates this.. posted on facebook also(:

  • People being awesome GMH!

  • im a softball player and if this happened to me i hope somebody would help me out this a true sportmanship and love of the game

  • I cry every time I watch it. Amazing!

  • GMH <3<3

  • GMH. <3

  • GMH

  • Simply AWESOME! You ladies show unbelievable class! In a world of sports where it seems to be "all about me" you show the world what "sportsmanship" really is! So very very classy! You will go far in this life!

  • GMH<33

  • GIVES

    ME

    HOPE

  • GMH

  • Classy

  • People - take it for what it was... people helping people... keeping things in perspective. That's cool.

  • if the umps had known the rule, this would never have happened. Thank god they don't know everything. Outstanding display of sportsmanship. These ladies will go far.

  • Awesome !!!

  • Wow, I don't know how I missed this story last year. This is fantastic stuff! Mallory Holtman - you are cooler than the the other side of the pillow. Karma baby!

  • Now this is the type of news I enjoy listening to! I commend those girls that did such a beautiful thing as carrying their team mate around the bases. Such a beautiful and touching story. You can be competitors and still respect eachothers game.. and skill. Thank you for posting.

  • I have personally met these girls and they are just as great in real life. They did something most people wouldn't do, and that shows great heart and sportsmanship. :-D

  • I love how great stories like this always bring out the assholes and retards in online forums. Seriously, go to any feel good story and there will be the guy/girl who not only disagrees, but does so way over the top in the worst language possible, both in content and grammatically.

  • i personally think that those girls did a great thing!so any one that disagrees isnt very thoughtful!good job ladies!♥

  • sounds like a personal problem to me

  • if you dont like to watch videos that u dont have any interest in why watch them? granted its not the most exciting interview but thats the most unbelieveable act of sportsmanship i've ever seen. at least there a few ppl left out in this world who arent always worried about themselves first. we got troops over seas who are sacrificing their time with their family n loved ones and your bitching about watching a video on youtube that you yourself picked to watch in the first place?

  • Thank you OBxSMITHxOB And nel713,

you guys always make me laugh when I watch this video..

  • wow that is a real prick.....but to the girls who did such a thing like this is the greatest sportmanship i have ever seen...girls should be aloud to play sports as men are aloud to be a cheerleader a softball player or whatever....sports are for fun and games...

  • aloud for allowed* hehehe; BUT YOU'RE TRULYYY RIGHT!

  • Know*

  • And they're cute... !

  • nel713 is right

  • Hat's off to Mallory and Liz. What a couple of class acts!

By the way, the umpires had the rules wrong. According to softball (and baseball) rules, if a runner is unable to advance to a base they are entitled to due to injury, a pinch runner is allowed to take the base. In this case, a pinch runner should have been allowed to run the final three bases for Sara.

Of course, the way it played out, with Mallory and Liz carrying her around the bases, was so much cooler!

  • we as a society are not as competitive as we ought to be. To let "sportmanship" get in the way of a victory is pathetic. If they were my players not only will they not play for me again but i would make them take off their uniforms on the field, for they are not worthy of wearing them.

  • nel1713-You are clearly an idiot, probably brought up in a violent household & the norm was fist fighting & selfishness.I hope you never have children & raise them with your warped sense of "victory"."We as a society"...Aren't we just one philosophical dipshit.I bet you cheat playing checkers...anything to win, eh vato? It's a game asshole & these women played it with integrity. You've heard of integrity, right? Why don't you go get drunk in public & fight with someone smaller than you.

  • min69teresa, I was brought up to be very competitive. This is the way that I intend to raise my kids, step on anyone and everything that gets in your way of winning for winning is everything. Because of the way that I was raise I can live a very comfortable lifestyle. A lifestyle that you can only dream of, and as far as you throwing me out of here.....FUCK YOU....Go suck a hairy dick bitch!!!!! eh vato!!!!

  • u rock tell min54tersea wat u think shpuld truly happen instead of whoopen somebodyeys but u go!!!

  • lol, do u have any friends b/c they way u talk no body will like u and only fight for love nothing else. Love Conquers All - old saying

  • One thing that is wrong with sports today is a LACK of Sportsmanship. I'm glad to see that it still exists. This is an amazing video :)

  • OMG are u serious this is probbly one of the greatest acts of sports evar. If it was baseball i would say the guys would be laughing at him and probably kicked dirt on him or something!!!You should be ashamed to thing it was wrong to carry her around the bases !!!

  • I am a high school hockey coach and you ought to be ashamed of your comments. I love winning as much as the next guy and losing pretty much kills me, but when it's all said and done sportsmanship really is what you will be viewed for.

  • And you, nel713, ought to have every bone in your body smashed to pieces with that same bat!

How dare you make those comments about two girls who are 100 times better people than you apparently are! And how dare you suggest such a sick, sadistic sexual act! You are out of line!

Like CoachJHockey, I passionately hate losing. But my attitude is that my team is good enough to win fair and square. We don't need to cheat the other team out of a run to win. Unlike nel, I won't sell my soul for a win!

  • What is your problem? Girls not allowed to play sports?? Someone has a sexist problem. What hte hell is wrong with you? That was a major act of sportsmanship and should be honored, not trashed. You are a overcompetative, sexist bastard who doesnt deserve a place in society.

  • omg u suck i hate u your so gender negative that is so mean girls can play any sport they want !!!!!!!!!!!!AND I HAVE won 13 opens i have 1 in softball whatever looser

  • I am all about winning!!!! I dont care if you are a female or male, try your best. Go on the field and kill anything that moves or gets on your way. This applies on and off the field. Sexist???? no I love females, I think we should all own at least one!!!!!

  • ya tell her

  • ur jealouse b/c nice things don't happen to u

  • You are right. Nice things don't "happen", you work hard and you make things happen. I can picture you already, you lay on your ass waiting for "nice" things to happen. Lazy bitch!!!

  • u don't even fucking know me b4 u open ur fucking big mouth i would like to say i can kik ur fucking ass. I am looking for a fucking jub and no one fucking call me yet so u should shut the fuck up because i hate ppl who r like u, they shit online but in reall life they are nothing. What the fuck is this ???? and also what is this What???? you also don't even know how to proper grammer so shut the fuck up you peice of shit.

  • regreate????jub??????reall?????peice????? and you still wonder why Mcdonalds is not calling you back? You know is sad that every Mcdonalds hires at least one "challenged" person but you can't even get a "JUB" there!!!!!!

  • onw what ur an reall asshole, hey eveyone look here's a reall asshole here and if u guys need an example well here u have it. I'll be the bigger guy and shut up because people like u always falls apart at the end.

  • then that's sad.

  • What does any of this have to do with sportsmanship? Get a life people. I finally find 1 thing in this world that doesn't make me want to blow my brains out. Read a couple replys to fell good about and I get to knuckleheads crying about jobs and kicking each others asses.

I say good job to those young ladies for doing a good deed and not getting paid millions of dollars for playing the sport.

  • And your tasteless comment should be removed. Have you been incarcerated? You should probably seek some mental health counseling before you act on your violent perversion(s). And if you reply to me in an inappropriate fashion, I'll damn sure get your ass thrown out of You Tube.

  • this is soo nice of them! i know sportsmanship is really important cuz i play travel softball and at tournaments you really want to be nice to other teams expecially if it is your tournament

  • i think its real cool cuz alot of teams just care about winning i play softball so i owuld know and its not stupid... at all good job

  • But the score was 0-0 at the top of the second when all of this took place. They could not have had any idea how the game was going to turn out, but they did it anyways because it was the right thing to do. They still willingly put themselves an extra point behind.

  • this is rilly sweet! Who cares who ever thinks it is stupid! I dont care bout the bad ppl! This is very nice

  • RILLY?

  • charles barkley would say that team must be the dumbest team everrrr lol

  • i highldoubt that guys would do this...espcailly if it an intense game like that.

  • No pro players would get all Disney happy and help the other team score just because "they deserved it" I cant belivethe argumenst that this dub ass video has created. These people al live in soccer mom happy SUV 5mpg credit max land!

  • Yeah, it makes plenty of sense... According to his post, he hasnt fought for shit

  • We teach kids respect and good sportsmanship!

Lifes not all about sports and winning all the time.

I admire those girls! Yeah we teach them to fight. What is right. fuck all the haters

  • @racingrl101390 You're right in that life is not all about sports. But you know what this is? It's a sport! Sports and competition are about winning, the effort toward winning--NOT the effort toward helping the other team win. When I play a sport I want the opponent to give me his absolute best, 100% all out, all the time. I don't want any "generosity" as this girl put it. This was a pathetic display of non-sportsmanship. The girls who carried this girl were traitors to their own team

  • @ycdtotv you are fucking pathetic, you should honestly check yourself, make sure your head is straight

  • @ycdtotv

You were the type of kid that didn't win at shit in school, weren't you? It shows.

  • @ycdtotv - How anyone could take a negative view on this is just mind-boggling. But to then go further, call it pathetic, non-sportsmanship, and call these ladies traitors and COWARDS leads me to believe that you don't understand of the meaning of those words. Yes, this is a sport, but sports are PART of life, and life is NOT a game. Life doesn't come to a standstill because of a softball game. You need to reexamine your values. That's the nature of character, you either have it - or YOU don't.

  • @broadjumper1 YOU can have them on your team. I want winners on my team--people who have the will and drive to do their best and play their hardest in the game of life. I don't want anyone on my "team" (in life) who helps the opponent win. You can have them. Sportsmanship is about fair play and respect for your opponent, it is NOT about helping the opponent. If you want to help the opponent, go play for their team.

  • @ycdtotv - I would have them on MY team. If you believe this act of HUMAN compassion means these ladies lack drive and a will to win, then not only are you sorely mistaken, but an incredibly poor judge of people in general. Sports used to be about teaching teamwork, leadership and building character but many people seem to have lost sight of this, along with much of their humanity. This isn't life or death son, it's a GAME. Attitudes like yours are symptomatic of what's wrong with the country.

  • @broadjumper1 i 100% agree with you. and im going to say this as nice as i can, but whoever this ycdtotv person is, you are dumber than obama and thats saying alot.

  • Amazing girls! Way to go! The world needs more kind hearts like yours!

  • God bless you all. The world would be a better place if more people could put others before themselves as you did. Congrats on the well-earned home run!

  • Very touching.

  • Maybe you should have them on your team. It is obvious you need some of their class to rub off on you.

  • Go to Iraq and fight like I did... Then come back and talk shit Hero

  • ....thank you for going there..honestly...i mean it but dude...that comment made NO sense...

  • RIGHT ON

  • you're a fool. the teams spent the game fighting, as did the injured sarah. the other team showed compassion and sportmanship. it's people like YOU who makes this world so miserable. people like YOU should be castrated, spade, or neutered.

  • um, that's exactly the point, nitwit. it doesn't happen, because of people who think the way you do. moron.

  • there is no rule in any sport, game, or activity that prevents a player from executing sportsmanship. you just showed how completely fucking stupid you are.

  • Man if you could see what you just wrote!

  • exactly what rule are you citing?

  • if there was a rule against it, the officals there would not have allowed it

  • Let me tell you: I umpire softball. If that happened, even if it was against the rules for the defensive team to carry her around the bases, if they want to do it, I'm not going to stop them.

I will not prevent a class act like that from occuring, regardless of what the rulebook says. An an umpire, you apply the rules with a lot of common sense.

That was such a class act and something I wish we'd see more of.

  • ya that is good sportsmanship!

  • It happens in Tennis. Players concede a disputed point routinely (the opponent is arguing with the official. The player benefitting from the call concedes if he agrees with the opponent)

  • It was a college game buddy. And it's called sportsmanship, guess you don't have it.

  • RILLY?

  • FUCK OFF

  • Great story, true act of sportsmanship!!

  • Hats off to you! Outstanding Story::)

  • this is a great story. i play travel softball and i know id appreciate it if i got an over the fence home run. thts amazingly nice what they did.

  • these are some of the niceset players in the game. they really did touch me and will make me think about it more when I am playing 1st base

  • You don't have to save someones life, to be a hero. These two girls ARE heros. If there were more people, like them. This world would be a better place.

  • absolutely

  • i'm in softball too and i love it! its good to see this type of sportsmanship because it is so inspirational and it reminds you that sports arent just about winning or losing! :)

  • I wanna kiss and hug those two!

  • im in softball and i have never seen any type of sportsmanship because most people just dont care about the other team, they just want to win. but if teams actually acted like that, every single game and sport would be more fun and everybody would be happier.

    thats what i think.

    i love that sportsmanship.

    xoxoxo

  • ur right every game i play my whole team and the other team bitch about each other. I just sit there and think to myself like wow..why is this world like this now? But i totally agree =]

  • I was there at the game and it was truly touching to see--GO WOU!

  • very VERY cool

  • this is what the game is all about!

  • wow they are sooooooo nice!

  • I got choked up. Big thumbs up.

  • i love it! they seam so nice!

    go oregon and washington

  • You ladies are outstanding.

  • espy right there for sure

  • this would make a good movie :)

these are what people like to hear.

  • Great story yes, but a boring movie.

  • I agree, I know it is a great story, but how would you drag this out into a full length movie? Are we that hard-up for movie ideas?

  • Great story, great show of sportsmanship. Very classy ladies!

  • The humanity of it all is unbelievable...these girls show the kind of class which is seldom scene anywhere.

  • Finally! Some honor in sports! This is a fantastic story about some fantastic people.

  • Bravo!

  • great story

  • It's good to see that not everyone in the world is a complete douchebag.

  • That's just an amazing job on Mallory's part. If I were Mallory I'd probably just be ignoring my opponent and hoping that the HR wouldn't count, but I've definitely learned my lesson. Runs are not as important when there's an injured player on the field, ESPECIALLY after hitting her first career HR as a senior. If I were Sara, I'd be HORRIFIED to have my HR negated, considering it was her first, as well as her last, HR.

This is definitely a story worthy of winning an ESPY award!

  • Great jobs girls, you are awesome...but isn't it a shame that this is getting so much attention at even a national level because this type of kindness and selflessness is not the norm.

  • I agree. When much of the sports headlines today are about athletes gone wrong, here is a story that teaches us what true sportsmanship is all about. Too bad that stories like these usually wind up on the back pages. The sports world is truly in need of positive role models, and these young ladies have set a strong example for us all.

  • there will be a tv movie, or a book at the least, these two ladies are what being a good sport is all about GOOD ON YA BOTH

  • I heard this story on a local talk radio station today (in Louisville, KY) and I got goosebumps. Great story. I would LOVE to know if somebody was filming this game. I would LOVE to see it!! Amazing job girls!!

  • I smell a Disney movie!

  • i dont. not much to make a movie out of it

  • good news!!!

  • Great story and an even greater act of sportsmanship.

I thought to myself, what would I have done?... and it probably would have been something along the lines of thinking "tough luck" and waiting for the trainer to get them. haha.
