sola scriptura simply means "scripture alone" explain to me how that is "anti scriptural" lol "Faith alone" is found thruought the NT (and in places in the OT) Rom 4:16-25 & Eph 2:8 (Who works for a gift?) among many others. If u are trusting in any way in ur own deeds for salavation than u r to be pitied most. No amount of good deeds equals salvation. For salvation someone must come to God solely in faith, realizing that they r completely bankrupt in and of themselves. Phillipians 3:8-9 :)
@Amoostoons Both are anti scriptural, read the book of St. James, clearly faith is dead without works. Both of these doctrines were invented in the 16th century by a man named Martin Luther, they NEVER existed before that, explain that to me genius.
True saving faith will inevitably lead to good works... James is not saying that "good works" lead to salvation in themselves. He is in an essence echoing Eph 2:9 (or vice versa. forget which was written first), emphasizing that if someone truly has faith in Christ then their life will inevitably produce good works.. but "good works" on their own, apart from Christ, r entirely useless for salvation (Philipians 4 and a large portion of the book of Galations) that make sense? :)
@Amoostoons Indeed! Likewise faith alone, as St. James clearly says, cannot save. This is one of the two pillars of protestantism, justification by faith alone or sola fide. So while protestants have no problem in denying that works alone save, they cannot bring themselves to say that faith alone does not save. I have seen many with great faith and many with great works, but few with both.

What I am trying to explain to u lol is that u can only have one... Faith.. without that, the other does not come. There are many "non-Christians" (if that's even a working term for us at this point) who do many good works.. for these will they be saved? No... In the same way that I will not be saved for my good works.. but by my Faith. Rom 4 is completely consistent with this and the entire book of Ephesians (the scripture i used is taken entirely in context... if u read the rest of the book
Rom 4 1-8 specifically. Very very very clear... Note among the whole thing where Paul states.. now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt... but if God's salvation is a free gift (as stated more than once in Ephesians) then it cannot be worked for. To try and work for ur salvation is to essentially acquire a debt that u can't pay.. And Paul talks about this in Galations.. b/c then u have to fulfill the whole law perfectly. but of course no man can do this..

For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. And also for the record I am quite aware of the history of the Christian church... Luther was certainly not the first, or the last, reformer to stand up and say there is something inherently wrong with the teachings of this church (Catholic) in light of what scripture says. John Huss took up a very similar cause to Luther's, years before him but was burned at the stake for it... not that he was in any way wrong, but just that evil men did not want to hear what he had to say :(

Therefore you do NOT have a clear understanding of Church history, or else you would know that the Catholic church separated from the true church, which is now referred to as the Orthodox Church. New doctrines = blasphemy. Scripture calls them "doctrines of demons".

The doctrine of demons u refer to is talking about those who forbid marriage and teach people to obstain from certain foods 1 Tim4 ... nothing about the teaching that faith alone saves..
@Amoostoons Its all perception. These doctrines came about in the 16th century and are therefore foreign to Orthodox Christianity. This quite simply proves they are man made doctrines and no church father ever adhered to them, from the apostolic fathers, the early church fathers and even up to now. Nobody who follows the Orthodox doctrines, the 2,000 year old apostolic teachings, adheres to either sola scriptura or sola fide. I actually published a book on all of this.

Can we ask God for something He has promised to give us in His Word? YES. Ps91 says God will give us His Angels, therefore it can NOT wrong to ask God to give us Angels. Compare that to us asking for the HOLY SPIRIT. Jesus could ask the Father for Angels.& we are to be like Jesus. Ps23 says Goodness and Mercy follow us, THESE are Angels, which WE Pray for unknowingly!! We don’t worship Angels, they are our servants, so we have right to tell them what to do, through Jesus the only Way to God.

@angelcharlie1 God save us. Even Satan masquerades as an angel of light. You know how we have authority over the angels? Making an appeal to God and letting Him deem when it's best to send an angel. If we command an angel, we are superseding God and stating we know best. Thus in the very process we separate ourselves from the authority we so adamantly claim. Matthew 28:18. All authority belongs to Jesus. A stewart has no authority save that which is authorized by his King.
@Stiggandr1 Christ gave authority to the Apostles to forgive sins John 20:23. This authority was passed down for the last 2,000 years. Priests have more authority than angels, for what angel can forgive sins?

Assuming we do wouldn't a fallen angel be more than delighted to obey a self-serving command? Or a command made in ignorance based contradiction to Gods plan? I'd rather accept that authority after Gods told me personally when and where to use it, and after making sure my motivation is love of God.
@Stiggandr1 Well we would have to look into the writings of the early church, and it is very clear that we do not have authority OVER anything. God has authority over all things, we may pray that God sends His angels to guide us, guard us, and protect us. But we cannot command them just as we cannot command the Holy Spirit, like most churches think they can, this reminds me of Mt. 7:22. PM me if you want to talk in depth.

For example, dont' you know that in Ez. the 4 angels that the prophet see in the vision are the 4 gospels? So when you ask to God to send an angel you are sayng God send me a message: this message sometimes is send trough an angelic creature,sometimes trough the word of God, other times is send trough a person, but in any case you ask God for a message not for the angelic creature
@angelcharlie1 This whole talking to angels is just a little creepy to me. I feel that we need to be careful that we don't put too much time in to anything else other than God the Father. Sometimes ppl do things that He is not pleased with, but it pleases us. If we step back and ask that question, am I pleasing the Lord by doing this? Even by having faith in our faith, faith in money- our faith and focus should be in God through Jesus Christ. I think this will be on the safe side-thanx.

Yes there are ministering angels, I also beleive in angels, but please show me where we are supposed to call down angels to do anything? Jesus is the only mediator between God and Man, If the Father wants to send an angel to us to minister to us that's great! but where in scripture does it tell us to call down the angels? or command the angels? Show me one verse of scripture that the Apostle Paul called down angels! Really, if you can do that, then we can have a reasonable conversation... :-)

Do u not understand that Angels Hold glory too, so when Todds yelling ANGELS ANGELS ANGELS ANGELS, hes talking from authority as if hes Jesus Commanding the Angels to enter our realm on earth so Miracles can happen. these miracles can happen when Gods Glory's present (Hence the Angels), so the miracles happen through the angels from GOD. But we Have our own Glory from God too (because Jesus is inside us too) as well as the Angels.
Todd is not Jesus, nor does Todd have any authority, if he was & did, he wouldn't be commanding the angels to do anything, although Jesus could have, HE DIDN'T command the angels, that is Jesus example to us, "Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" Matthew 26:53 We do not command Jesus to do anything, we serve Him, not Him us!

True saving faith will inevitably lead to good works... James is not saying that "good works" lead to salvation in themselves. He is in an essence echoing Eph 2:9 (or vice versa. forget which was written first), emphasizing that if someone truly has faith in Christ then their life will inevitably produce good works.. but "good works" on their own, apart from Christ, r entirely useless for salvation (Philipians 4 and a large portion of the book of Galations) that make sense? :)

@Amoostoons Indeed! Likewise faith alone, as St. James clearly says, cannot save. This is one of the two pillars of protestantism, justification by faith alone or sola fide. So while protestants have no problem in denying that works alone save, they cannot bring themselves to say that faith alone does not save. I have seen many with great faith and many with great works, but few with both.

What I am trying to explain to u lol is that u can only have one... Faith.. without that, the other does not come. There are many "non-Christians" (if that's even a working term for us at this point) who do many good works.. for these will they be saved? No... In the same way that I will not be saved for my good works.. but by my Faith. Rom 4 1-8 specifically. Very very very clear... Note among the whole thing where Paul states.. now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt... but if God's salvation is a free gift (as stated more than once in Ephesians) then it cannot be worked for. To try and work for ur salvation is to essentially acquire a debt that u can't pay.. And Paul talks about this in Galations.. b/c then u have to fulfill the whole law perfectly. but of course no man can do this..

And also for the record I am quite aware of the history of the Christian church... Luther was certainly not the first, or the last, reformer to stand up and say there is something inherently wrong with the teachings of this church (Catholic) in light of what scripture says. John Huss took up a very similar cause to Luther's, years before him but was burned at the stake for it... not that he was in any way wrong, but just that evil men did not want to hear what he had to say :(

Therefore you do NOT have a clear understanding of Church history, or else you would know that the Catholic church separated from the true church, which is now referred to as the Orthodox Church. @Amoostoons Its all perception. These doctrines came about in the 16th century and are therefore foreign to Orthodox Christianity. This quite simply proves they are man made doctrines and no church father ever adhered to them, from the apostolic fathers, the early church fathers and even up to now. Nobody who follows the Orthodox doctrines, the 2,000 year old apostolic teachings, adheres to either sola scriptura or sola fide. I actually published a book on all of this.

Can we ask God for something He has promised to give us in His Word? YES. Ps91 says God will give us His Angels, therefore it can NOT wrong to ask God to give us Angels. Compare that to us asking for the HOLY SPIRIT. Jesus could ask the Father for Angels.& we are to be like Jesus. Ps23 says Goodness and Mercy follow us, THESE are Angels, which WE Pray for unknowingly!! We don’t worship Angels, they are our servants, so we have right to tell them what to do, through Jesus the only Way to God.

@angelcharlie1 God save us. Even Satan masquerades as an angel of light. You know how we have authority over the angels? Making an appeal to God and letting Him deem when it's best to send an angel. If we command an angel, we are superseding God and stating we know best. Thus in the very process we separate ourselves from the authority we so adamantly claim. Matthew 28:18. All authority belongs to Jesus. A stewart has no authority save that which is authorized by his King.

@emekonen I wont dispute that, but the question we face is not whether we have more authority than angels but whether we have authority over angels. And if we do should we even exercise such power?
Assuming we do wouldn't a fallen angel be more than delighted to obey a self-serving command? Or a command made in ignorance based contradiction to Gods plan? I'd rather accept that authority after Gods told me personally when and where to use it, and after making sure my motivation is love of God.

@Stiggandr1 Well we would have to look into the writings of the early church, and it is very clear that we do not have authority OVER anything. God has authority over all things, we may pray that God sends His angels to guide us, guard us, and protect us. But we cannot command them just as we cannot command the Holy Spirit, like most churches think they can, this reminds me of Mt. 7:22. PM me if you want to talk in depth.

Sometimes ppl do things that He is not pleased with, but it pleases us. If we step back and ask that question, am I pleasing the Lord by doing this? Even by having faith in our faith, faith in money- our faith and focus should be in God through Jesus Christ. I think this will be on the safe side-thanx.

Todd is not Jesus, nor does Todd have any authority, if he was & did, he wouldn't be commanding the angels to do anything, although Jesus could have, HE DIDN'T command the angels, that is Jesus example to us, "Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" Matthew 26:53 We do not command Jesus to do anything, we serve Him, not Him us!

The Holy Spirit does not contradict the Word of God. His Truth is totally in line with it. When we test the spirits (by seeing if they line up with it) we are being obedient to Him. The rubbish spouted by Todd Bentley has nothing to do with God at all.
If he repents and preaches in line with the Word of God, then he might be worth listening to.
These men need to consider their eternal fate as the reward they have for their present conduct will be poor compensation for their eternal punishment

What I'm saying is; If you truly love God and have been born again and are dwelt by the Holy Spirit of God..his word is your daily bread! When I was born again I didn't understand much about the word until the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to it. To love God is to love his word... period. False teachers like Bentley add and take away from it ...Gods word is sacred and the Joyner's and the Bentley s use it only as a prop. As to your statement.."So sad the only truth you have is the word of God"

That is the most egregious statement I have heard come out of anyone! I don't even Joyner has been that heretical!
I will say this; The word of God is not only truth..it is the only truth we have on the face of this earth! How, without the word of God can one even know he has the real spirit of God indwelling him? TB say's bam! and people with no knowledge of Jesus get hit with something..as Bentley would say "come get some" I say get some what? People at Joyner's meetings even little kids

go to his meetings in hopes of manifestations and getting hit with something! I'll tell you now there are many many evil spirits roaming the earth calling themselves jesus! They prey on the Biblical ignorant people of the apostate church. The Bible say's you'll know them by their fruit! Todd Bentley is a liar and the truth is not in him! Prove me wrong! We have video evidence of his constant lies! It's sad that a guy like him who could get a job where?He ends up in the church how sad is that?
