Yea, he is a little bald dude that looks like a squad leader champion... His voice really sucks now... The only thing that he shares is the name eliphas.....
Although I haven't gone onto Gamespot to check, looking at several videos and pictures it was my impression that the actual leader of the Chaos force was some Terminator-armoured Lord, not actually Eliphas.

Yeah I know the differences, I play with them in the table-top game but I just can't imagine them being implemented. Grey knights would either suck for the sake of balance or a typical force would have to use inquisitorial stormtroopers which wouldn't be that interesting.
if GK would be in dow2 do u know what minimum amount of units u would have? SM allready have a few one GK would have 1 single GK against a SM squads dude

actualy ur wrong read on ur history more grey knights are a chapter of space marines therefore they are an army but unlike the other chapters they are created soley for destroying chaos.....the leaders of the grey knights are the 9 Grand masters. just because the codex isnt purely grey knights doesnt mean they arnt a chapter/army themselves

cypher will never be placed in anny of the games cos they never put named characters and if they ever did cypher would be the one they never do hes one of the original marines..Imensly superior to anny of his current bretheren a normal marine even in terminator armour wouldnt last more than a few minutes against him
i wonder if the imperial guardsmen in dow 2 will be stronger than before.if you notice when you first incounter the eldar in one of the first missions.you will see some destroyed predators and near them will be the bodys of some guardsmen who look alot more taller than before and stronger looking.

I'm really looking forward to this. There going to have it so that those of us who have the first one can take our wargear and marines with us into the new game. Which is cool since I love the stuff I got right now, especially my power swords and Avitus' Heavy bolter. 2800 attack.
The whole point of the imperium, the eldar, the tau (the good races) is that they are simply the least evil. The imperium protects the emperor and mankind (who are good). The eldar protect themselves, and they are sort of good. Even the Tau, the most liberal race, have no concept of diplomacy beyond "JOIN US OR DIE!"

chaos was obviously the first race to be added. theyre tradiotional, they were in the first dawn of war, and they are awesome (but thats somethng that counts for almost any race in dow)
Looks like that producer wanted to make easy money and just slittly modified the existing Space marines models to produce this fake Chaos Marines army.
Perhaps in your personal opinion, but it cannot be denied that the Ultramarines are one of the most well know and one of the strongest chapters of Space Marines. They basically hold down the entire eastern side of the galaxy, and about 70% of the splinter chapters around are from the Ultramarines gene-seed. Not to mention Roboute Guilliman is the author of Codex Astartes, which a great deal of chapters follow. The Ultramarines are also the first to repel a Tyranid invasion. Not so bad after all.
I wish we could get a "tabletop simulator": Same rules (calculated for you behind the scenes), beautiful 3D world... played exactly the same as the tabletop with the 3 phases.

For all intents and purposes, in DoW 1 you pretty much were Chaos undivided; although your biggest daemon was a bloodthirster, you had Horros of Tzeentch, Sorcerers, etc.
Shame Nurgle and Slaanesh didn't make an appearance :-/

mmm in some sense you were but at the same time your not, in dow 1 they probabley left out a good 1/3rd of the chaos army at least seeing as your missing chaos terminators alot of deamons along with epic deamons and dreadnaughts....man it made me sad and dow 1 me sad again knowing that the necrons arn't as epic as they are table top
DOW isnt different to anny strategy game though which realy sux cos like every other strat game its got a main race that dominates all by spaming one unit (assault marines) with some cover fire.its a shame cos DOW if it was more like the table top could get the best rating of all time by simply making races like eldar faster and a bit more powerfull and making the over all other armies more usable and resiliant to marinesand y the hell hasnt a single one brought out striking scorpions for eldar
Hopefully Chaos will have a playable campaign, TBH I'm sick of space marines always being the main race when there are so many cooler/more interesting factions.

Agreed, long-ass campaigns of only one faction kinda suck. At least in Dark Crusade we could choose what faction. I still play Dark Crusade with the Tyranid mod more than I do DoW II.

i think most ppl dont know the story behind WH40K and only got what they know from playing DOW, unfortunantly each chapter of space marines are really unique and have amazing stories behind them.
i agree theres to manny people out there saying and arguing that they know all this stuff about warhammer 40k just from playing DOW and its realy anoying cos no 1 whos just played the game knows shit about warhammer... the game isnt anything like the stories and backround...EG. one spacemarine is supose to be able to take on eldar guardian after guardian and not even flinch...
space marines are and always have been the most popular army mainly cos theres soooo manny little kids and people who start 90% of the time go with them. the second most played army is tau and third is eldar.....in the games marines are hard core as they should be but in table top although hard as hell anyone with a yers worth of EXP can obliterate a marine army if u play smart i hardly ever lose to marines with my tau the army i realy only have trouble with is imperial guard

the way the main campaign works now, for those who dont know yet, basically actions affect corruption. That ancient piece of armour sacred to the chapter?? go ahead take it, the emperor wont be happy. Essentially emphasising the RPG elements by allowing you to play very corrupt, and it may even be possible to turn chaos if you are corrupt enough.
They're pretty damn scary in the lore. In the game...well, you can't quite justify them with a game, so that's expected. But they're not boring if you know how to fight like them.

Are chaos good or bad?
I always wonder that because space marines and imperium looks like soviet russia meet with inquisition where all humans must be slaves to emperor.

The whole point of the imperium, the eldar, the tau (the good races) is that they are simply the least evil. The imperium protects the emperor and mankind (who are good). The eldar protect themselves, and they are sort of good. Even the Tau, the most liberal race, have no concept of diplomacy beyond "JOIN US OR DIE!"
I t is unarguable however that necrons, dark eldar, chaos and all are evil

chaos was obviously the first race to be added. theyre tradiotional, they were in the first dawn of war, and they are awesome (but thats somethng that counts for almost any race in dow)

Perhaps in your personal opinion, but it cannot be denied that the Ultramarines are one of the most well know and one of the strongest chapters of Space Marines. They basically hold down the entire eastern side of the galaxy, and about 70% of the splinter chapters around are from the Ultramarines gene-seed. Not to mention Roboute Guilliman is the author of Codex Astartes, which a great deal of chapters follow. The Ultramarines are also the first to repel a Tyranid invasion. Not so bad after all.

I wish we could get a "tabletop simulator": Same rules (calculated for you behind the scenes), beautiful 3D world... played exactly the same as the tabletop with the 3 phases.
Big difference? Your huge army wouldn't cost a penny and all the fighting and models could be animated! :)

I do indeed "play a damn fuckin table top": But I'd also like to be able to learn all the rules in an easy way, within my own home... I would like to experiment with different army lists and hell maybe even try out other factions FOR FREE.
I love painting the models, and I love playing with them... to ask for something in addition hardly warrants a caps rant, does it?

For all intents and purposes, in DoW 1 you pretty much were Chaos undivided; although your biggest daemon was a bloodthirster, you had Horros of Tzeentch, Sorcerers, etc.
Shame Nurgle and Slaanesh didn't make an appearance :-/
Oh and I believe you played as the Alpha Legion (or played against?) in one of the games?

mmm in some sense you were but at the same time your not, in dow 1 they probabley left out a good 1/3rd of the chaos army at least seeing as your missing chaos terminators alot of deamons along with epic deamons and dreadnaughts....man it made me sad and dow 1 me sad again knowing that the necrons arn't as epic as they are table top

DOW isnt different to anny strategy game though which realy sux cos like every other strat game its got a main race that dominates all by spaming one unit (assault marines) with some cover fire.its a shame cos DOW if it was more like the table top could get the best rating of all time by simply making races like eldar faster and a bit more powerfull and making the over all other armies more usable and resiliant to marinesand y the hell hasnt a single one brought out striking scorpions for eldar

Chaos are not getting a campaign, it's the same Blood Ravens from Dawn Of War II again, you can keep the wargear and stats etc from your DoW II save.

Agreed, long-ass campaigns of only one faction kinda suck. At least in Dark Crusade we could choose what faction. I still play Dark Crusade with the Tyranid mod more than I do DoW II.

3. Chaos
i think most ppl dont know the story behind WH40K and only got what they know from playing DOW, unfortunantly each chapter of space marines are really unique and have amazing stories behind them.

space marines are and always have been the most popular army mainly cos theres soooo manny little kids and people who start 90% of the time go with them. the second most played army is tau and third is eldar.....in the games marines are hard core as they should be but in table top although hard as hell anyone with a yers worth of EXP can obliterate a marine army if u play smart i hardly ever lose to marines with my tau the army i realy only have trouble with is imperial guard

the game play in DOW 2 is more realistic to the table top thats y he did it likethat because GW was complaining and so were its fans that DOW and expansions were nothing like table top and i do have to agee but for a more fun based game ST is the best and DOW 2 also screwed up with squad sizes....who heard of 3 man marine squads its just retarted..but DOW 2 has the hero option which works realy well but them dint make the heros even they made them cobat choice for everything way to OP

the way the main campaign works now, for those who dont know yet, basically actions affect corruption. That ancient piece of armour sacred to the chapter?? go ahead take it, the emperor wont be happy. Essentially emphasising the RPG elements by allowing you to play very corrupt, and it may even be possible to turn chaos if you are corrupt enough.

obviously uve never played warhammer before cos in soul storm they did the armies as they were in the codexes, Necrons all look the same cos they are ment to, Tau die in combat cos in their backround Tau SUCK at combat and SOB are supose to be weaker versions of marines they havent been geneticaly altered like the marines. and dark eldar are supose to be flimsy but very fast hit and runs which is how ur ment to play em in soul storm.

I fucking know that. But it's not an excuse. Honestly the only thing that your comment was is just a longer way of saying that they suck because they are meant to. I mean Tau suck in CQC and are great at ranged but CQC is extremely important in 40k. Any good book would tell you that much and tyhere are many good 40k books. So simply because they are meant to be like that doesn't mean that they are in any way better because of it. Also if you want to see codex accuracy then download FoK mod.
