westkan - what's your concern about mobs & home rulers? You're not powerless against your neighbors. Can't citizens decide their own methods for governing themselves and their communities? Try stopping Monsanto - they can be mightier than any local organization in town. Might your contempt for your fellow citizens be misdirected? Have faith in peoples' efforts to govern themselves. Folks have a much bigger problem trying to prevent Monsanto Corp from putting family farms out of business.

Interesting presentation. Democracy has been, IMO accuately, label mob rule. What is in place to prevent the mob doing to other groups of citizens, what they are able to do to the corporations? No mistake about it in time these empowered home rule communities will attempt to restrict the rights of anyone different than them. My opinion base on growing up and still living in a rural community.

@westkan That is why Aristotle set out and the Founding Father of the USA implemented to some degree the BALANCE of forces, the rule of Law balanced by the Democratic popular rule, and visa versa. It is always a matter of balance. Right now it is grossly imbalanced for the corporations.
