  • I agree that officers need to be able to conduct patdowns, the example shown in the video does not display the officer exercising adequate safety procedures. The officer in the video is using his bare hand. In the event the suspect had a sharp such as a used needle, the officer is taking an unnecessary risk of contracting a Bloodborne virus. Gloves would be a good start, but they do not provide 100% protection vs. a needlestick. Utilizing PPE that offers standoff distance would be much better.

  • All those people who have had a history of violence had a first incident too. I guess that means an officer should put himself in severe danger by assuming everyone who has no history of violent criminal activity is a nice person.

  • Fuck the cops!!!

  • Fuck it search them anyway.

  • A "Pat-Frisk" is not a search.

  • The purpose of the police is not to keep themselves safe. It is to protect and serve.

Protect what? Protect our rights, such as right not to be searched without cause (4th Ammendment). This includes frisking.

Serve what? The citizens and laws.

Police have a very difficult job to do, and they should be respected when they do it properly, but the police are not immune to the very things they employed to protect and serve.

  • @drfoxcourt "The purpose of the police is not to keep themselves safe. It is to protect and serve."

Lol no one gose to work thinking they are going to get bashed and killed. If they did the poiice arent getting paid nearly enougn

  • @drfoxcourt "The purpose of the police is not to keep themselves safe. It is to protect and serve"

In all occupations people have the right to be safe.. Problem is that when you say protect our rights?? whose rights exactly are you refering to .

Keep in mind that crimincals and muderes would also abuse there right too.

  • @badpanda84 "Problem is that when you say protect our rights?? whose rights exactly are you refering to ."

Every citizens rights under the Constitution and laws. Persons who are arrested under the law still have certain rights. Only when convicted in a duly constituted court of law are rights removed (and even then, not all rights). The 4th Amendment is the right not to be searched without cause. This applies to everyone.

  • @drfoxcourt " Persons who are arrested under the law still have certain rights"

Yes but you also expect police to arrest criminals right??

  • @badpanda84 One should expect the police to arrest suspects, But what I (or you) expect has no standing in the law. The police might arrest anyone. For this reason it is the courts that determine if the arrested person is a criminals (innocence until proven guilty). The police do have certain special privileges, but they do not include unreasonable (with out a reason) search.

  • @drfoxcourt "For this reason it is the courts that determine if the arrested person is a criminals "

yes that is fine.. but you are assuming that they didn't have weapon on them.. ( which is the reason why police wanted to frisk them in the first place).

The court's arent much good if the offended turned out to have a knife of gun

  • @badpanda84 Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups. As law enforcement, corrections etc...you will always look like shit in the public eye. But that's why we lean on our brothers and sisters in blue to know our struggle and support us no matter what. We serve the public, but we can not bend to them when it jeopardizes safety. We must stay strong through the public onslaught for our fellow officer.

  • @drfoxcourt Pat downs are not searches. If you feel uncomfortable, I am sorry, but there is a very big difference

  • @drfoxcourt "The police do have certain special privileges, but they do not include unreasonable (with out a reason) search"

Frisking people who may have commited a crime is perfectly reasonable.

  • @drfoxcourt So we should wait for someone to be convicted to find the firearm on their person? Get real. You leftist assholes get old in a hurry. A simple pat down is NOT a search of your person or property.

  • Problem is cops have way to much power & they love to abuse it. Look at the type of person it takes to be a cop. The younger the cop the more of an a**hole he/she will be.The older more mature cop will still be arrogant and may still be an a**,but they won't be as bad as the younger.

  • @10inlong If I were I would start with YOU ! Matter of fact I wouldn't bother patting you down,I'd just tazer you into submission then mace you until you puke, plant some drugs in your pocket and maybe a gun then beat the crap out of you with my baton. Then take you to jail and make sure every prisoner there knows your a homosexual have the jailer lock you down with Big Meat and tell you to have a nice life.

  • @10inlong You sound like an ex-con who likes to talk big and likes to think your something special.Mace will clear your sinuses but you'll also be crying like a 3 year old. Your big and tough until the cuffs go on then your crying for your momma and screaming "I aint dun nutin". I know a few guys that would love to have you as their bitch.

  • plus +1 for freedom!

no search or seizures without a warrant!

  • if its such a risk then quit

  • hahahahaha

  • I agree if the suspect is obviously a criminal.. eitier he had shown violence or physical hostility to the police officer..

I find it police overstepping their authority if they frisk good citizen if they just break a simple traffic law.. or they do it out of racisism..

  • The cops already have too much power! More people need to stand up for their rights! Our rights are the only good thing about this country and their being stripped away every day by police and politicians!

  • @benscrappyusername You're a joke. Improper pat searches have shown suspects to have firearms, knives etc...some of these have become viral videos on the internet. One very famous one I can think of is someone who appears detained in investigative detention waiting til an officer leaves the room to remove a gun from his pants and shoot himself in the head. But of course the pat search that could've saved his life, and potentially lives of officers, is unnecessary and evasive. Get a grip dude.

  • @benscrappyusername The police do not have too much power. Measures are put in place to avoid the "1-100" incident. Yes, it does suck to be subjected to such procedures, but our officers lay their lives on the line for our safety, contrary to what you seem to believe. Such measures are to avoid injury, harm, or death to these offices. If you don't like it, feel free to move to a country where officers aren't given this "power", as you call it and see how safe you feel

  • @benscrappyusername You wouldn't be saying this if you were a LEO. You would be surprised by the element that police officers have to engage with on a daily basis. I'm a CO at a maximum security prison and everyone will tell you that the inmates have more rights than the officers. It really puts our lives at risk because were limited to what we're able to do. And the inmates know this.

  • lol that second po looks like a fuckin fary
