@goredby21 ...says the ignorant fool posting child-like slurs on a PBA video. Do you know what the word 'irony' means? Had you finished high school, you might know. "Real classy, pal!"
Pretty sure Pedersen lost his exemption/tour card/whatever on that 7-pin. I think you'd be pretty pissed too if people were moving after you'd already said something, and basically just lost your job one on shot. People say 'but leagues are noisy'...yeah, they are. And you expect that. But on TV when you expect to be quiet and still, it has to be 100% or you'd notice any small thing, like these guys did.
@AlanWick Gee, yeah, really sorry for my outburst there. I'll try to calm down next time, and leave the reasonable discussion at home next time. Clearly the rest of this comment thread has done the same.
Do these guys remember where they started? League bowling has 25+ lanes all going at the same time.... people chit-chatting it up, music, TV.... etc...In most other sports (With the exception of Tennis and Gold) you want the crowd to be pumped up cheering for you to piss of and or distract your opponent.
@Gordon09011989 yes they remember... they do it every week in the qualifier round... but the quieter the bowling alley (aka maybe one pair going) the lighter the noise that will distract you. Ambient noise such as a bowling ball hitting the lane 5 lanes away or a ball return can be blocked out. If they want to get rid of outbursts like this they need to have the fans making noise the whole time then the little things won't bug them.
I already understand how distracting motion and noises and all that crap can be but I think you should ask politely or train yourself to deal with it. Don't be a douche about it.
If anyone wants to test this, just get 2 guys to battle over a number of games. One guys gets the unexpected handclap behind his ear in unexpected different times in his approach and never bother the other guy. Yeah at some point the w/ the distractions will adapt. That's because he now expects it, so it no longer bothers him. But that's my point. Expectation. Either allow the crowd to whoop or not. But yeah some accidents do happen
I think both sides can be valid. What it is is if people are allowed to make noise the whole time then it's not really distracting, but if it's dead quiet, then you hear a pop, or there's a cam flash in your face UNexpectedly, it can throw you off. And the MAIN key here is that in bowling on a sport shot, your margin for error is but a mere couple of inches, if not a centimeter or 2. Just like golf. If your club face is off hair of degree, you're screwed.
There is aboslutely no difference in bowling when you're about to bowl and someone yells in your ear versus someone crinkling a water bottles right before your shot. The point is you hear it at the last second and it throws you off.
And don't compare this to baseball/basketball you idiots. Fans are screaming at you non-stop, that kinda shit happens at every game versus bowling, especially during a nationally televised tournament, you're supposed to be the fuck quiet.
This is why bowler's are pussies. They take themselves too seriously. I had a guy in league the other day yell and cuss because the phone at the front counter rang. If a pitcher can block out distractions in a game and a basketball player can do it at the freethrow line then a bowler should be able to as well. One day real athletes will start bowling and put all these whiners to shame anyway.
i hate it when people on my league get pissed because you say get a strike!, or you can pick this up! and when they dont, they blame you instead of there shitty ass throw...
I cant believe these groups of pussies who we call bowlers. Imagine the World Series and a pitcher needing one more strike to win the game and meanwhile the crowd of 50,000+ are going absolutely fucking nuts. They don't get distracted. In the meantime, these bowlers complain because an audience members moves 0.000001" to adjust their seat. Grow a pair a pair a nuts.
@cdlcrusader1 Really? It is a different atmosphere and your dealing with a 15-16lb ball, having to slide on your approach and have a successful follow through swing. If you get blinded by a flash or distracted by somebody who breaks your focus in mid motion that ball can comedown and break your foot-ankle. Its a sport that requires respect just like golf .Dont be an idiot!
God Pedersen is a pussy. He really needs to learn how to block out distractions and focus. Typical bowlers. Don't take responsibility for your own performance, blame everyone else for your failures. I'm ashamed to be a bowler. Time to take up a real sport, like chess or something.
baseball players yell at the ump, basket ball coaches yell at bad calls, hokey players break into fights, football players do it too. Bowling has a close audience that can break your concentration. I would yell at anyone who might make me lose up to 50,000 dollars in one day. Don't hate cause it's bowling

i hate bowlers that are constantly complaining about distractions. You need to learn to block out the distractions and go with the flow

God Randy Pederson...
It should be easy to block out ONE guy who's moving. If it was a group of people, I would understand. But ONE guy?
At that point he was just looking for someone to blame for his bad break.
