@ShameOnYouMofokhaa - Post # 1 of 2 -- There are 12 claims made in this video. 7 are definitely true, 4 are maybe true and only item #7 is definitely untrue. Please review this and see if I am wrong.
1. Lose all your friends - maybe, some new JW's do some don't
2. No holidays - true
3. No blood transfusion - true
4. Oral/anal sex forbidden by leadership - true (often disregarded)
5. Forbidden music & reading - sort of true (again, often disregarded)
Studies done by Swiss psychiatrist Janner, Swedish psychiatrist Dr. Rylander and an American study by Precore all concluded that the rate of mental illness among Jehovah’s Witnesses is 32-40 times higher than the rest of the population..the religion is a sick, damaging cult, google the facts ( risking disfellowship if you do) ... or live a life of lies and mental slavery.
YOU KNOW WHAT, I FEEL PITY FOR THEM,THEY DONT KNOW THEY ARE BRAIN DEAD ZOMBIES IN A CULT.I MEAN EVERYONE KNOWS IT.THE PROBLEM IS THEY ARE DELUSIONAL AND READ ALL THE COMIC BOOKS THAT COME OUT OF BROOKLYN NEW YORK,I HAVE SEEN THE WATCHTOWER PRINTING PLANT,THATS WERE THE COMIC BOOKS GET PRINTED.ITS FUNNY ALL THE ELDERS GET ALL THE LEG AND THE FOOLS GIVE OUT COMIC BOOKS.
AND ONE LAST THING, Before you Go Contradicting And ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW EVERYTHING AT LEAST ATTEMPT TO HAVE EVERYTHING RIGHT, Thats ONLY IF YOU CAN. AND WE CAN ASSOCIATE WITH WHOEVER WE WANT, AND WHILE YOUR DISSING A RELIGION, JUST KNOW THAT YOU JUST LIKE ME WILL BE JUDGED.
obviously Someone Doesnt Know How To Resight the bible, because for one you have a bunch of lies in this video. The bible does not forbid oral or anal sex for married couples, IT FORBIDS THOSE WHO ARENT MARRIED, WHISH IS CALLED FORNICATION, IF YOU DIDNT KNOW, & We do not care about only ourselves but the well being of others, WE ARE NOT A CULT, WE ARE NOT A SATANIC RELIGION and WE ARE NOT BAD PEOPLE IN ANY WAY. WE live by bible rules and have strick morals but THAT DOESNT MAKE US ANY LESS HOLY
@Sharnayroses-Maybe the Bible doesn't forbid oral or anal sex, but the Watchtower does even for married couples. Their book "True Peace and Security" (1986) in pages 142-151 says "homosexuals employ other forms of intercourse in what the apostle refers to as "disgraceful sexual appetites" and "obscene" practices. (Romans 1:24-32) Could married couples imitate such homosexual forms of intercourse in their own marriage and still be free in God's eyes from expressing "disgraceful sexual appetites"?
you go 'door knocking' and attend the meetings because if you are a true Jehovah's Witness it brings you great joy to serve Jehovah in such ways, thats what others dont understand, they see it as a chore but if you were actually involved in it then you'd know it brings you pleasure to do these things
if you would really like to know the truth about Jehovah's Witnesses and NOT listen to videos like this one that LIE and spread untruths about Jehovah's Witnesses feel free to click on my username and see for your self the wonderful message and hope that we lovingly share with everyone on our Earth. Have a Wonderful Day.
Also if you were raped, and if you were molested and DID scream and DID do something about it, in the end it doesnt matter they turn on you like at the drop of a hat! Not only that but if this molester is a hall goer, THEY STAY while the victum is cast out of the hall. SO in otherwords no matter if you fight or dont, still they treat you like the pedaphile! How do I know? Me and my friend was cast out, even dragged threw the hall while other members get to hear about your supposed shame.
everything in this vid is misleading, they dont celebrate holidays bc they are pagan. they dont take blood bc God says not to. and they are not forbidden to to talk to pple outside the cong. they are not forbidden to associate with pple that are disfellowshiped they are some of the niceset pple i know, who dont get involved in worldly things...just like Jesus said not to. they have accurate knowledge of scripture..better than oter religions, and i cant wait to join! peace yall
@evansmom091507 - Calendars and wedding rings have pagan origins. There's no WT rule about these, or even about pinatas (pagan origin) as per a recent Awake! The WT picks and chooses what pagan things it wants to make rules about!! Like Pharisees, the WT LOVES making rules. See Romans 14:5 - rules about special days are unbiblical.
Not taking blood is yet another WTS rule. They have no business twisting the "abstain from blood" verse into a medical command. Such teaching is murderous.
Devil and all you church people think yall going to heaven but your not cause jehovah created us to follow his word and Jehovah Wittnesses follow his word The bible plus our bible is different
@monquie1ful With all due respect for your age and life experience (I believe your profile says you are a seventh grader?) you will one day need to examine the basis for your religion. I appreciate that you will not likely do that any time soon, owing, no doubt, to a loyalty to your parents (similar). But for those struggling / doubting Witnesses that come to these postings for a perspective on this religion, take the time to look (closely) at it's history, and it's policies.
We don't go to church we go to the Kingdom Hall. Plus Boone should watch R rated movies it's all garbage. And if your disfellowshipped it because you did some Jehovah wouldn't approve of. Plus family and friends can't talk to them because they might make us make the same mistake they did. When we come to ur doors were preaching the truth but at church you all are learning the lie we don't celebrate Halloween because Halloween is all about the devil and ghost on y'all doors and stuff attract the
@monquie1ful I thought God's word says He will never leave you nor forsake you and that he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. If God Himself wouldn't disfellowship us after we sin, how is it right for JW to do that? My God is loving, he sent his Son to this earth to save us, not cast us away if we make a mistake and bully us into coming back. God is NOT a God of fear, God is Love and perfect love casts out all fear.
@nasraani - Most churches have a ministry to help those who have fallen into difficulty, spiritual or otherwise. In the JW's such ones are often kicked to the curb -- especially if they don't belong to a popular family or sub-group in the organization. I saw favoritism time and again when I was in the JW's. It is a definite factor.
JW's are a performance-based organization. They always ask what have you done for them lately? Those who become weak are considered too burdensome to deal with.
@nasraani - They're just men. In reality they have no more wisdom or insight than you do. Based on your earlier comment, you understand the spirit of Christianity better than JW leaders do.
The only power these men have is the power that people yield to them.
In Bulgaria they the Watch Tower and Tract Society ARE NOT permitted to preach against blood transfusions, oytherwise they will have their church deregistered by the Bulgarian Government.
So why aren't the Kingdom Hall FLOCK in USA questioning the governing body in Brooklyn about this matter so they ''may'' have the option to take a blood transfusion without being judged as being a spawn of satan?
GOD SAYS HE HAS A SON.Jesus said he's God's Son-Matthew 3:17,Mark 9:7,Psalms 2:7,Luke 9:35,Prov.8:22.DEMONS,expelled said he's Son of God-Luke 4:41.Matt.8:29, Mark3:11.Others said he's Son-John1:14,49,3:17,5:18,36,6:46,10:36,Mark15:39,Matthew 26:63,27:40. Hebrews10:29,4:14.An angel said he's Son-Luke1:35.Jehovah God is Jesus' God-John15:1,16:3,30,20:17, Matt.26:26,36-44,64,Mark15:34,Ephesians1:17.Son=Mediator-1Timothy 2:5,Heb.1:3,4,8:6,9:15,12:24, Romans1:4,8,9,Acts7:55,56.
Fuck the jehovahs witnesses you are all completely ignorant to the fact that Jesus owns you he made you if u deny him you wool burn In hell so have fun it's gonna be hot
@TK3SOJ The King's Speech is a rated R movie, and it's very beautiful and inspiring. You don't have a clue what you're talking about. Rated R doesn't mean pornographic! It just means it has some things children should probably not see/hear. Some of the most profound movies I've ever seen are R rated movies!
im a disf ex-jw and all is true except having to do certain amount of ministry but if you do hardly any you will get a "shepherding visit" where you are "encouraged" to do more. any q's please ask as i wanna set the record straight on this awful religion
@IMJW1000, I'm not sure what you want to do about this? I'm shocked that you would even respond to me since it's been 3 MONTHS since I've posted on here. I'm not interested in this topic anymore and I've moved on from it 3 months ago. But If you find it an amazing topic to argue/debate over - then by all means - go ahead, but not with me.
@dammehvideos - Like I said, Christmas isn't the real birthday of Jesus? Alert the media! This is front page news. (I'm just being sarcastic.)
Like I said, so what? Who cares? If people want a holiday they can have one. Your Bible even says so. "One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind." (Romans 14:5) -- It's okay to point out that Jesus wasn't born in December, but only immature people need rules about it.
Christmas isn't Jesus birthday? You really think that's "news" to people. So what.
You ever heard of "Good Friday"? People DO remember the death of Jesus on Good Friday.
What does 1 Corinthians 6:14 say -- it says "unbelievers". It doesn't say "believers with whom you have some differences". But the Watchtower, being the controlling group that it is, tries to build a wall between its members and the outside world -- a wall of distrust and fear. This is a religion that divides people.
CHRISTMAS IS NOT REALLY JESUS' BIRTHDAY.Read Matthew, Mark, Luke in bible about 2/3 of way through bible. They never give a date of his birth.Jesus never celebrated his birthday.HE DID TELL US TO CELEBRATE HIS DEATH at Luke 22:19.We keep his Memorial-Jehovah's Witnesses follow exactly what Jesus tells us. The bible says celebrate DEATH-Eccleciastes 7:1-8, verse 4,"The heart of the wise ones is in the house of mourning, but the heart of the stupid ones is in the house of rejoicing."BIBLE IS TRUTH.
It's really the BIBLE that teaches Christians to avoid those who do not follow God's word.1 Corinthians 6:14,"Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers."WHEN YOU CUT DOWN JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES FOR NOT BEING INVOLVED WITH PEOPLE NOT FOLLOWing JESUS ACCURATELY, YOU ARE REALLY CUTTING DOWN THE BIBLE, AND THAT IS OH SO MUCH A SERIOUS THING. I WOULDN'T WANT TO BE STANDING IN YOUR SHOES! The holidays are all lies-there is no Santa-who rewards you-only GOD should reward you.Easter is a goddess-google
Some religions REALLY separate themselves from the world -- even more so than the JW's do. They really follow that "no part of the world" idea. These include cults and people who live in monasteries.
JW's believe that God will destroy all who aren't associated with them at a soon-to-come Armageddon. They enforce the idea of fear and loathing of the outside world in their literature and in their congregation meetings. This is part of what you should know about Jehovah's Witnesses.
Jehovah's Witnesses follow prophets in the bible, and especially the teachings of Jesus. Noah and other servants of God kept separate from the world and it's ungodly practices. Jehovah, the Only True God, destroyed them because they lied, stole, were violent, worshipped statues, got drunk, spoke perversely, and committed unclean sex acts. READ John 15: 18,19. Also read John 17:14, "...I am no part of the world." John 17:16,"They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world."
Ok, so a friend of mine is a JW. So... how is that not being able to have friends who are not JWs? I'm not a JW, I'm not even a christian. The rest of it? Somewhere between "no big deal if that's what you're into" and "that probably isn't true."
@BNCBGreg - Based on my experience inside of the JW's: That friend of yours is either a fringe JW, or else is being your friend only in hopes of converting you.
However if he really is your friend based on who you are and not because you could become a JW, good for him / her.
@BNCBGreg if youre friend is a baptised witness, he is directly violating his religions commands. if you are spending time together in a social setting and the elders discover this, he will be councelled repeatedly to stop association with you.
and, being raised JW myself, it is ALL true. no blood transfusions, no oral/anal sex, no R rated movies, no reading questioning material, and yes, shunning of family who leave the religion.
@BNCBGreg In reality your friend either didnt have you around when one of their elders or hall members came to their house. They probably dont know that you exist. That is how come you still keep your friend, and concider yourself lucky for that fact. I lost all my friends, until I turned my tail and left from all the bs I saw in that religion.
Note: Praying in a right form, following the INSTRUCTIONS in the Bible (keeping the 10 commandments - including keeping the Saturday as the 7th day etc.).
@diptdipt - So how are you going to break the news to all those Sunday worshipping Christians about Saturday being the Sabbath day and Sunday is just the first day of the work week??? I look at all those poor mislead Christians that really dont read their Bible, around Christmas they'll hang their pretty lights, put up their pine trees "christimas trees" to celebrate Dec. 25 as Jesus birthday. Not to mention those other so call holidays of PAGANISM.
@QueenEiliYAH - Romans 14:5 says "one man considers one day more sacred than another, another esteems all days fully alike. Let each man be convinced in his own mind." So isn't it a personal decision whether to celebrate a holiday, etc. ? Does Romans 14:5 even matter?
Put another way, JW's think it's wrong to have a "holy day" on a day that used to be a pagan religious day. However every day of the week is named after a Roman God. You regularly meet on the pagan Sun day. Shocking!
@QueenEiliYAH whether sunday or sat. is the sabbath it is irrevalent because in the new testament Jesus perfomed miracles and picked food off the bushes on sabbath which was forbidden according to the pharisees. everyday should be holy and our Lord cares more how you are and how you treat people rather than what day you think is the sabbath
@QueenEiliYAH YOU KNOW WHATS FUNNY::THE BIBLE SAYS IF YOU WORK ON THE SABBATH YOU HAVE TO BE KILLED,IF SOMEONE WORSHIPS THE MOON OR THE SUN,YOU HAVE TO BE KILLED,IF SOMEONE TALKS TO YOU ABOUT ANOTHER GOD YOU NEED TO KILL THAT PERSON.IT ALSO TELLS YOU HOW TO BEAT YOUR SLAVES AND HOW TO MARK THEM BY DRILLING THEIR EAR.HOW COME CHRISTIANS NEVER TALK ABOUT THAT.ILL TELL YOU WHY,THEY CHERRY PICK..
Note: Praying in a right form, following the INSTRUCTIONS in the Bible (keeping the 10 commandments - including keeping the Saturday as the 7th day etc.).
I've fallen in love with a JW and I am an atheist, the heartbreak I'm going through now knowing that this relationship may never work is very strong. She will not listen to my reasoning though she really likes me, she has been brainwashed and she does not seem to listen, she even tried to convert me to "save" me... She is the one who needs saving from this cult, I will try my very best to make her see the truth, she is so special, so unique, I just don't know how I can change her mind...
@neopork100 - If you're a real JW can you deny that the Watchtower continually emphasizes Hebrews 10:24,25 (gather yourselves together) to teach its people that it is important to attend every JW meeting? Their Kingdom Ministry publication even said that JW's who are travelling on vacation should still attend each meeting when they're in other locations.
It's true that the WT doesn't set any quota for your ministry. But at assemblies and meetings they often speak of a 10-hour per month goal.
do u really think jehovahs witness actually do this to people or force it at them?
of course not, im a jehovahs witness they tell you thousand year old rules that people have followed for YEARS and they feel happy, and they give u a choice if u want to follow these rules and have happiness, i said yes cuz who in their right mind wants to be happy
@timmy5gh1 - "Do Jehovah's Witnesses actually do this to people or force it at them?" Yes, some of us had no choice because we were brought up in this rules-based religion.
BTW I feel happy without their long list of rules. So did those who turned away from the long list of rules that the Pharisees had in the first century and turned to the one who said "come to me you who are toiling and loaded-down, my yolk is light".
No holiday celebrations or singing holiday songs, can't join boy or girl scouts (it's "bad association"), can't go to prom or play school sports, can't give to the Red Cross or accept blood transfusions, can't join the military, can't become a police officer or have a job with a gun, cannot salute flag, cannot vote or run for public office, cannot buy lottery tickets or gamble, cannot date without a chaperone, men cannot wear a beard. Etc., etc., etc.
@cooper79jeffr obviously someone has not read the bible enough to see that these statements you make are in fact found in the bible. I'll only talk about a practice that is not found in the bible that people still do. Christmas is celebrated worldwide and it is for Jesus' birthday (supposedly). But where in the bible does it say that Jesus celebrated his own birthday?.answer? nowhere! However in the book of Matthew chapter 28 vers 19,20 it does say to remember his death, which is what we do
@rockguyjw - Of course Christmas isn't in the Bible. But nowhere is there a prohibition against such a gift-giving holiday.
The Bible principle that applies here is Romans 14:5 -- "One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind." Paul there didn't say that an organization should make rules about what days are or aren't important, but that mature people could make up their own mind.
Some things in this video r plain wrong especially the part of rape...And don't say JW came up with these rules they follow bible standards and alot of the things about movies and stuff is left up to the JWs own conscious! They are instructed to be careful in what u watch and take in because it can weaken ur spirituality. Yes they are very strict when it comes to bible principles but this is because they have a purpose in life and look forward to a greater joy than most know about or believe in.
@shawbone2k - The Watchtower Society has gone back and forth 6 times between 1964 and 1998 on the matter of whether a woman would have to scream and/or fight off their attacker to have been consider innocent while having been attacked by a rapist. So did the Bible change that many times, or did JW rules change?
A JW cannot be caught watching "R" rated movies or else they will lose any special privileges they have at the Kingdom Hall. It's true they won't be disfellowshipped, however.
Sad how all of these people allow themselves to be fooled year after year. How many times does one have to be lied to before they realize the one who speaks to them is a liar?
“When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him."

@iluvrnb1 - Regarding oral sex: Can you cite a Bible verse specifically saying it's unclean? I know some religious leaders don't like it and the ysay so -- but isn't any teaching (pro or con) on oral sex from mankind and not from the Bible?
I was raised in a Jehovah's Witness household. I left the faith over moral issues, such as the reason stated at 1:21, and for the reason stated at 0:48 in 2003. They come up with all kinds of excuses, such as the first commandment. Jehovah's Witnesses ended my relationship with my female classmate in 1999. My parents and other family members who are Jehovah's Witnesses are unworthy of my respect, and so are the rest of this mind control organization. Nowadays, I am an atheist.
@TediusZanarukando - As an ex-JW, now atheist, shunned by his parents, I can relate to a lot of what you say. It's good to make a clean break rather than try to maintain a functional relationship with those who will only accept you on their religious / superstitious terms. It's so sad that the organization makes rules to break up families, and it's also sad that rank-and-file JW's are cowed into following such harsh and unfeeling procedures.
"Anyone with half a brain knows the earth animals and mankind didn't just evolve". But those with complete brains full of scientifically-backed knowledge know that evolution science is solid.
The more you study our world and the scientific efforts to understand it, the farther you get from superstitious beliefs based on ancient religious texts.
@DrkwrldAuthor thats your un-educated opinion, people like you, dont ever study or read books or get out the house and explore the earth and marvel at its creation. You really are lazy and stupid. anyone with half a brain knows the earth animals and mankind didnt just evolve they were carefully and loving created. I guess your house just was there on the street huh? NO it was build just like the universe. Go to a library and start reading.
@iluvrnb1 It's moronic to compare a building (Whose architects and construction workers we can TRACE in the record) to the universe. The true origins of a solar system are not only explainable, but infinitely more complex and beautiful than the story of creation as per the Bible (A book with multiple authors, many of whom were Polytheists referring to Yahweh Sabaoth in the Old Testament) Anyone with "Half a brain" knows how to use proper grammar and spelling, so you, sir, must be lacking.
9) You will enjoy inciting to love and fine works and learn more about our creator
10) You may need to protect your faith from those who may wish to turn you away, this maybe include family and freinds.
11) If you do all the above the elders and your Congregation will see that you are in good standing, especially Jehovah and You Will Be fellowshipped with your bro and sis forever.
12) every JWs in the world even those in your family will be able to speak with you forever and ever.
I was raised as one and half of that stuff I did lol -you can read whatever you want listen to whatever music you want as long as you do not feel your relationship with god in trouble-i also had lots of friends outside of the hall (church) and lots of neighbor kids there is a lot of church time too but you are not required to go out "in service" really its all personal choice...I'm agnostic there are a lot of other problems with it ..you listed the wrong ones
this video states it as it is...it is true....i was raised from age ten to follow the "Witnesses" teachings, i believe i am still struggling with damage done to me as a result, i am in my fifties. you can not just walk away without some sort of counciling.
if you are struggling to begin a new life away from the "Witnesses" GET HELP.
Many JW's hide in the dark of not wanting to know the true history of the organization. This is an intellectual dishonesty. Do you know about Charles Taze Russell's " bible in stone" the Great Pyramid of GAZA? Or the 1928 return of the prophets and the house the JW's built for them?
@TheJwhistory It's very sad that they are afraid to find out the truth. If you ask them a question about a specific Bible topic, i.e. the second coming of Jesus Christ as the Holy Bible says it will happen, you will get a reply "He's already here!" If you quote the Bible verse that says "every eye will see Him", they will tell you that there are many blind people on earth, so this Bible verse cannot be correct. PRAY earnestly for them and be kind, speaking the truth in love.
I think the whole fucking world should watch this video . But of course at least 2 million have no brains and can't think for themselves. Which is very, very sad.

The JWs do not recognize Christian holidays because they are of pagan origin. Just take that one step further and realize that the whole religion has pagan origins and should not be recognized.
@attyatlong The book "Antiquity Unveiled" by Roberts. The book "Oahspe" by Newbrough. "Shadow of the Third Century" by Kuhn. "The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors" by Graves.
@k0smon Thanks for the references. I have heard a lot of this type info also from "The Two Babylons" by Hislop as well as information about the religions of Egypt predating 10 commandments etc. As a bible student I find a lot of the info interesting. I have heard the post-exilic priest theories etc. The historical and prophetic accuracy of the bible convinces me though. Since I cant reply without reading the references, would you care to share specific areas where you feel christians are pagan?
@attyatlong I forgot to mention books by Tony Bushby, "The Bible Fraud" comes to mind. Bart Ehrman, while still believing in the reality of Jesus, admits there is almost no secular references for his existence. There is no original documentation for the bible, only word of mouth hearsay written many years after the life of Jesus.
The belief that a loving God sends His children to an eternal torture chamber just does not make sense. Reference Carlton Pearson.
@k0smon The key is ALMOST no secular reference to Jesus. But archepology is finding proof of many people/ places in the bible. 1st century historians Josephus and Tacitus mentions him; also. Opposing Jews never doubted his historicity. Dead Sea Scrolls. Extant 2nd century ofcopies of NT exist. Have you read all of these books you cite? have you balanced this info with material supporting the bibles validity?
Hell is pagan; nonsensical....careful study shows the bible does NOT teach it.
@attyatlong Please ignore Hislops book. It is so filled with errors and bad research it should be tossed! Hislop a trinitarian was trying to prove the Catholic Church false and trying to prove that the trinity is of pagan origin, even though he himself believed it. This shows how shody his research was. BTW I have read it, and even my limited knowledge of Greek and Egyption cultures was able to tell many false statements.
@kgxxx10 Why would I ignore it? Just like you I am able to discern some things also but in the main I dont see the work as shody.Anyway I unfamiliar with that information can certainly gain a base form which to launch additional inquiry. And where alternatively would you suggets getting non shody good research?
@attyatlong Use good scholarly articles and books. I tend to ignore books written by those who wish to spread hate. With Hislops book others have tracked down his references and found he did not quote them accuratly. For example whenever a religion had a panthion of gods, and there were at least 3 main ones, he called it the trinity. There may have been 5 main gods, but if there were three that were somehow related, he called it trinity. Also I find his book to be confusing.
@attyatlong cont. He also shows a lack of understanding what the true teaching on the trinity is. At times he seems to include Mary as a member of trinity. Which she has never ever been considered a member of trinity. Overall there are much better places to go to do research. I would pick up some books on acient religions if you want to. For good understanding of Christian believes "Theology for beginners" by Frank Sheed is a very good book.
@kgxxx10 I acknowledge that. i saw that point. The trtinities of Egypt etc do not equate to the trinity doctrines espoused by todays orthodox christians. I just take in the information but I can filter it and no hate is fostered at all. :-). There are other books on the same subjects that I have read too.
@attyatlong Maybe you can recognize the errors in his book. But many can't. He has been referenced by many, who are then referenced. So this errant research gets carried on and buried.
@k0smon Additionally I am convinced because I see a united brotherhood of races, socio-economic levels, languages, nationalities that I see the bible effecting in JW's .I also see a high moral standard taught and carried out as a group ( obviously excepting individuals) This is a goal the world woulld like to acheive but fails to do. This TO ME indicates a force beyond humans serving humans as you describe.
@attyatlong Thomas Paine is reputed to have stated that if you took all the good out of the bible and put it in a separate book, it would not fill a hundred pages. I see the bible as a collection of ancient writings put together by church councils and not the 'word of God'. I believe in the Creator, but He has not written any books. Study His creation to know what He is like.
@k0smon NT &OT Ive examined canonization principles and find no prohibitive problems. Bible acknowledges "book" of nature to learn about God @Romans1:20 Many thoughts in bible can be summarized but after reading it 30 years I still find depth and wisdom men ignore and suffer the results to this day. Prophecy is the strongest proof of the bible being metaphysical. Whether it holds up as the "word of God" requires honest non-biased investigation. May I ask have you read the bible?
@attyatlong When I first started bible study, I was not impressed with its quality. It just seemed to go in circles. I have never read the bible through. I always thought that the 'word of God' would be of much higher quality than what I find in the bible.
@k0smon objectively do you think it is fair to yourself to bring preconcieved notions s to what the bible should be like. The bible itself states that there is a need to study and have guidance. Are there particular ideas you find unpalatable? You mentioned hell for one.
@attyatlong It is not preconceived notions that is the problem, it is the reaction to what I read that is the problem. I was introduced to a book called "Oahspe" many years ago. It calls itself a bible, and I have taken to that book like you have taken to the bible. I have read it thru 5 times. There I find quality that I do not find on the bible.
@k0smon no disrespect on the preconcieved point. I saw you cite "oahspe". what is its origin? How old is it. You say you believe in a creator but that he wrote no books so this book is one of philosophy or what?
@attyatlong The Oahspe came about in 1882, thru the hand of a physician-dentist named John Newbrough. It would be classified as "channeled ", in that he received it by way of a typewriter which had just been invented. It took him a year to receive it. It also could be considered in the spiritualism category. It teaches Jehovih, the Creator. (No relation at all to the JWs).
@k0smon I see. Interesting. I have read a channeling book before but I dont remember what it was....years ago. Jehovah the creator corroborates the bible I guess. Jehovah/YhWh and varying name permutations existed long before the modern day JW religion. Does Oashpe acknowledege Jesus? Also what does it "get you" besides that coffin you mentioned before? :-)
@attyatlong Oahspe says that Jesus was a construct of Constantine and the Council of Nicea. It mentions a prophet by the name of Joshu who was stoned to death. The trinity is false. Only the Creator Himself is real.
I don't remember mentioning a coffin, but everyone dies, of course. Spiritualism teaches that your reward depends on how you treat other people, not on having your 'sins' forgiven. An interesting read is "A Wanderer in the Spirit Lands", free download from the internet.
@k0smon well I certainly agree tht the bible does not teach a trinity. Jesus being a construct disagrees with roman historians of Jesus' time. He is referred to by secular historians and his earl followers were willing ti die to pass on his message hardly something someone would do for a construct. Likewise the bible indicates that how others are treated affects your outcome. e.g the famous sermon on the mount.
@attyatlong Actualy the trinity comes straight from the Bible. As far as I have been able to research there has never been a time since Christs death that the trinity has not been taught in it's current form. While it is not explictly in bible, it is implied. It is much clearer when you read New Testament in Greek.
@kgxxx10 kg you said" Actualy the trinity comes straight from the Bible."....then..... "While it is not explictly in bible, it is implied." I agree it is not explicitly in the bible.
Implications or deductions can be false. I know there are many trinity concepts. I personally just believe that ontologically Jesus and YHWH are two separate entities and persons.
@attyatlong While it is true that there are many trinity concepts. There is only one correct understanding of the trinity. While it is true that the Father and the Son are distinct persons, they are not seperate entities. Any concept of who the Father, Son and Holy Spirit that differs from what has always been accepted by true Christains since day one must be rejected. There are problems with scripture that only the trinity can correctly answer. And there is no conflict between trinity and bible
@k0smon Burning torturous hell is not biblical as you have surmised. see Jer 7:31. The dead do not experience pain or consciousness. see Ps 146:4 and Eccl 9:5,10 Death is the opposite of life, not another phase of life. Adam and Eve who started the whole mess were given death as a penalty not hellfire and yet their progeny has to suffer an everlasting torture that they escaped?? Seems ridiculous yes? The penalty for sin is death Romans 6:23 and hell ( Heb. Sheol) is simply the place of death.
@attyatlong You are probably referring to an idea called soul-sleep. JW and SDA believe in this. I cannot accept this as true because of my studies into the afterlife.
@ DestroyllC The bible is not real in your eyes? Why? Because Satan is not dead?. You seem to have assumptions of how you feel things should work. You have pondered these things and you have come up with the solution that the bible is not real....on what basis? Have you read the entire bible or are you dismissing it out of hand because you feel it is irrelvant or you never saw convincing answers as to its validity? Forget JW/cult issue; investigate the bible, you owe it to yourself. Peace.
@DestroyIIC How about the KGB calling them spys for America, the United States banning publications during WW1, Hiltler banning them and putting them in concentration camps and calling them communists, Current cases against them in Russia for preaching, etc. do you mean that kind of thing?
@DestroyIIC Supported Hitler? I think you are overstating matters and being sensatonalist. I have read the documents that supposedly say JW's support Hitler. The WT letter to Hitler, 1934 resolutions etc. JW's are politically neutral so they could acknowledge the problems germany experienced under the versailles treaty etc, They also looked at the business effect of Jews in america and Britain. A reader may think by your statement thatthey suppoted his pograms and the war. This is far from true
@DestroyIIC I challenge anyone to go to the anti JW sites and actually ead the entire documents. Now suppose they did support Hilter ( other thatn being law abiding citizens) and supposedly then turned on him. what was orthodox christianity doing, contibuting to the slaughter of 55million people of the world. engaging in carnal warfare. isnt that prohibited somewhere?? 2 Cor 10:4 Matt 26:52 Hitler had confiscated their headquarters and found nothing offensive at that time.
@DestroyIIC Later he opposed JW's because they 1) were neutral and would not go to war. 2) refused to particpate in nationalistic/political activities and the heil hitler greeting 3)refusal to join the army. Hiltler pledged to exterminate then from Germany.
Perhaps you can review the sites you got this info from and read the documents in their entirety. Please show me the quotes that support what you say here and not the sites author's editorial tiltling. I will respond. Peace.
@DestroyIIC I can agree that that could look like man's work because we all want this mess that occurs on earth in the name of religion and just my mans own propensity to mess stuff up ( fubar). again I ask if you have read the entire bible because it is the bibles thememthat thru God's government all of these things would be rectified. It mentions that man is not capable of directing hos steps. Jer 10:23. Free Will is involved here and is why God deals with it the way he has.
@DestroyIIC My understanding is that he was thrown form heaven before WW1. Throwing him onto us is one step in his irradication. The bible shows that if one adheres to bible teaching one can avoid most of the effect of his "roaming" the earth. Political neutrality, moral fidelity, lovoing your neighbor etc. everything ON EARTH living has to come from other life. Life not found nowhere else.If you know the principles of physics then time formed at the big bang. What was there before the beginning?
@DestroyIIC The bible requires guidance for it to be understood. ACTS 8;28-31 I agree with you. If there are not answers then it must be mans work. If God and Christ are real then there must be someone that can explain these things. Jesus stated that he would be with his people until the end . Mat 28:20. If there are no people who can adequately guide people then its all a lie! I personally have found satisfying answers.
@attyatlong I agree that the bible requires guidance to understand. The JW's come up with concept of Soul Sleep from misunderstanding of a couple of verses in scripture. The bible is not one book, but a collection of books written over a period of 2000 years to many different people to address many different problems in many different styles. Without this background you will never get bible. The bible is part of Christian teaching, but not the total of it.
@kgxxx10 Soul sleep? Anyway I know the bible is not one book but 66 written by 40 different writeres and that the first books NT books were written some 50 + years after Christ died. You would have to provide proof of the accurate rendering of those oral teaching/traditions. And how do you know what was taught from day one. You read this somewhere....where? I rely on the bible as God' word. who should people look to as a guide then??
@attyatlong Actualy 73 books... be no need to argue cannon. I know what was taught becuase I have read many of the Church Fathers. I know what they believed and what they believed to be false. Also why they believed it to be false. When put all together you find a constant teaching of same message with no change. I do not consider these to be inspired like the bible, however they are still very valuable.
@attyatlong cont. Soul Sleep is the believe that those who have died are unconsious or non-existant. According to Eucibus this believe came from Arabia in 3rd century. Since OT does not talk much about state of dead, it is easy to misread it into believing there is nothing after death. The concept of immortal soul and soul sleep can be both gotten from OT. However the NT carifies that the soul is immortal. There are too many warnings of judgement after death to ignore in NT.
@kgxxx10 khx I see your points I guess i await you putting it together so i can evaluate the points. For example i would like to see the soul sleep thing. Show how the OT taught it. Is there documentation that the Isrealites believed it before the Greek period of domination? The proof that the idea came from arabia ( thru what agency) . Give me the cites or the books I can read on this in particular
@attyatlong First the believe in an afterlife predates Greek culture. The Egyptions believed in afterlife (hence pyramids!). We see God drilling into the heads of the Isrealites that there is One God, where Egyptians believed in many. We don't see God drilling into their heads about no afterlife. Yet belief was common among nieghouring cultures. We have Saul contacting Samual. Why would God prohibit divinitation if it were impossible to contact the dead? The one verse the witnesses fall to ....
@attyatlong cont is Ecc 9:5. However Ecc is a lamenation of the frivoloty of life. And how it is so fleeting. And how we all suffer the same fate. It's primary concern is with this life, not the next. In terms of references check out Eucibius's History of the Church (XXXVII) About the same time others arose in Arabia, ... They said that during the present time the human soul dies and perishes with the body, but that at the time of the resurrection they will be renewed together.
@kgxxx10 I know the afterlife concepts originated in Egypt although pyramids were never used as tombs; no burials having ever been found in any pyramid. Actually the Egyptians believed in one main God Ptah. ( still learning about this). divination was not prohibited because there are spirit creatures who can imitate the dead in the same ventrioquist style satan used in eden. To avoid contact with these spirits divination was prohibited.
@attyatlong I know why divination was prohibited. You don't know if you will get a demon or a person. Besides if God wants you to know these things he will reveal it. These have knowledge which we should not have. So of it may be false, some true, we can't tell. But you can't prohibit something that is not possible. If it was a prohibition against contacting spirit creatures I would agree, however it is a prohibition against summoning the dead.
@kgxxx10 The lamenting writer theory is in a lot of bible ftnts. I have learned that this is because there is a Platonic immortal soul idea which is Greek/previuosly Egytian in origin. The bible does not indicate any life after death other than by resurrection. That is in fact one thing JW's believe differently than almost everybody. Ezek 18:4, Psalms 146:4. Were ezek and the psalmist lamenting also?
@attyatlong Re Ps 146:4, read vs 3 for subject. It is souls of sinners. Not the rightous. According to Joshepus the Parishes and Essence believed in immortal soul, but the Sadducies did not. Aq Bk 18. Isa 14:9-14 talks about how those in Sheol welcome the new arrivals. Ezek 32:21 talks about people in Sheol being aware. You could call Ecc a meditation or other wisdom type litature. But it concerns this life, not next. You are reading into it more than is there.
@attyatlong And Ecc 12:7 talks about soul returning to God and body going to dust. Clear understanding of seperation of Body and Soul. Also Greek understanding of Body/Soul is not same as Christain understandings. The Greeks believed the body traped the soul, which was set free at death. Christians believe we are a combination body and soul. When the soul leaves body the body dies. This is why we believe we will recieve new bodies at resurection.
Not even half of this is true.. :\

obviously Someone Doesnt Know How To Resight the bible, because for one you have a bunch of lies in this video.
Sharnayroses 4 months ago
@Sharnayroses-Maybe the Bible doesn't forbid oral or anal sex, but the Watchtower does even for married couples. Their book "True Peace and Security" (1986) in pages 142-151 says "homosexuals employ other forms of intercourse in what the apostle refers to as "disgraceful sexual appetites" and "obscene" practices. (Romans 1:24-32) Could married couples imitate such homosexual forms of intercourse in their own marriage and still be free in God's eyes from expressing "disgraceful sexual appetites"?

@evansmom091507 - Calendars and wedding rings have pagan origins. There's no WT rule about these, or even about pinatas (pagan origin) as per a recent Awake! The WT picks and chooses what pagan things it wants to make rules about!! Like Pharisees, the WT LOVES making rules. See Romans 14:5 - rules about special days are unbiblical.
Not taking blood is yet another WTS rule. They have no business twisting the "abstain from blood" verse into a medical command. Such teaching is murderous.

God is NOT a God of fear, God is Love and perfect love casts out all fear.
nasraani 6 months ago
@nasraani - Most churches have a ministry to help those who have fallen into difficulty, spiritual or otherwise. In the JW's such ones are often kicked to the curb -- especially if they don't belong to a popular family or sub-group in the organization. I saw favoritism time and again when I was in the JW's. It is a definite factor.
JW's are a performance-based organization. They always ask what have you done for them lately? Those who become weak are considered too burdensome to deal with.

This is a religion that divides people.
cooper79jeffr 8 months ago

This is part of what you should know about Jehovah's Witnesses.
cooper79jeffr 9 months ago
Jehovah's Witnesses follow prophets in the bible, and especially the teachings of Jesus. Noah and other servants of God kept separate from the world and it's ungodly practices. Jehovah, the Only True God, destroyed them because they lied, stole, were violent, worshipped statues, got drunk, spoke perversely, and committed unclean sex acts. READ John 15: 18,19. Also read John 17:14, "...I am no part of the world." John 17:16,"They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world."

cooper79jeffr 9 months ago
@BNCBGreg if youre friend is a baptised witness, he is directly violating his religions commands. if you are spending time together in a social setting and the elders discover this, he will be councelled repeatedly to stop association with you.

Shocking!

of course not, im a jehovahs witness they tell you thousand year old rules that people have followed for YEARS and they feel happy, and they give u a choice if u want to follow these rules and have happiness, i said yes cuz who in their right mind wants to be happy
timmy5gh1 10 months ago
@timmy5gh1 - "Do Jehovah's Witnesses actually do this to people or force it at them?" Yes, some of us had no choice because we were brought up in this rules-based religion.
BTW I feel happy without their long list of rules. So did those who turned away from the long list of rules that the Pharisees had in the first century and turned to the one who said "come to me you who are toiling and loaded-down, my yolk is light".

Hence when they come knocking at my door I question them on this and call them murderers.

JW rules not found in Bible:
No holiday celebrations or singing holiday songs, can't join boy or girl scouts (it's "bad association"), can't go to prom or play school sports, can't give to the Red Cross or accept blood transfusions, can't join the military, can't become a police officer or have a job with a gun, cannot salute flag, cannot vote or run for public office, cannot buy lottery tickets or gamble, cannot date without a chaperone, men cannot wear a beard. Etc., etc., etc.
cooper79jeffr 10 months ago
@cooper79jeffr obviously someone has not read the bible enough to see that these statements you make are in fact found in the bible. I'll only talk about a practice that is not found in the bible that people still do. Christmas is celebrated worldwide and it is for Jesus' birthday (supposedly). But where in the bible does it say that Jesus celebrated his own birthday?.answer? nowhere! However in the book of Matthew chapter 28 vers 19,20 it does say to remember his death, which is what we do
rockguyjw 10 months ago

Yes they are very strict when it comes to bible principles but this is because they have a purpose in life and look forward to a greater joy than most know about or believe in.
shawbone2k 10 months ago

Deuteronomy 18:22

Many JW's hide in the dark of not wanting to know the true history of the organization. This is an intellectual dishonesty. Do you know about Charles Taze Russell's " bible in stone" the Great Pyramid of GAZA? Or the 1928 return of the prophets and the house the JW's built for them?
TheJwhistory 1 year ago
@TheJwhistory It's very sad that they are afraid to find out the truth. If you ask them a question about a specific Bible topic, i.e. the second coming of Jesus Christ as the Holy Bible says it will happen, you will get a reply "He's already here!" If you quote the Bible verse that says "every eye will see Him", they will tell you that there are many blind people on earth, so this Bible verse cannot be correct. PRAY earnestly for them and be kind, speaking the truth in love.

The JWs do not recognize Christian holidays because they are of pagan origin. Just take that one step further and realize that the whole religion has pagan origins and should not be recognized.

@k0smon I believe it will be your burden to prove that "the whole religion has pagan origins"........ Can you provide evidence?
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong The book "Antiquity Unveiled" by Roberts. The book "Oahspe" by Newbrough. "Shadow of the Third Century" by Kuhn. "The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors" by Graves.
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon Thanks for the references. I have heard a lot of this type info also from "The Two Babylons" by Hislop as well as information about the religions of Egypt predating 10 commandments etc. As a bible student I find a lot of the info interesting. I have heard the post-exilic priest theories etc. The historical and prophetic accuracy of the bible convinces me though. Since I cant reply without reading the references, would you care to share specific areas where you feel christians are pagan?
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong I forgot to mention books by Tony Bushby, "The Bible Fraud" comes to mind. Bart Ehrman, while still believing in the reality of Jesus, admits there is almost no secular references for his existence. There is no original documentation for the bible, only word of mouth hearsay written many years after the life of Jesus.
The belief that a loving God sends His children to an eternal torture chamber just does not make sense. Reference Carlton Pearson.
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon The key is ALMOST no secular reference to Jesus. But archepology is finding proof of many people/ places in the bible. 1st century historians Josephus and Tacitus mentions him; also. Opposing Jews never doubted his historicity. Dead Sea Scrolls. Extant 2nd century ofcopies of NT exist. Have you read all of these books you cite? have you balanced this info with material supporting the bibles validity?
Hell is pagan; nonsensical....careful study shows the bible does NOT teach it.
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong Please ignore Hislops book. It is so filled with errors and bad research it should be tossed! Hislop a trinitarian was trying to prove the Catholic Church false and trying to prove that the trinity is of pagan origin, even though he himself believed it. This shows how shody his research was. BTW I have read it, and even my limited knowledge of Greek and Egyption cultures was able to tell many false statements.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@kgxxx10 Why would I ignore it? Just like you I am able to discern some things also but in the main I dont see the work as shody.Anyway I unfamiliar with that information can certainly gain a base form which to launch additional inquiry. And where alternatively would you suggets getting non shody good research?
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong Use good scholarly articles and books. I tend to ignore books written by those who wish to spread hate. With Hislops book others have tracked down his references and found he did not quote them accuratly. For example whenever a religion had a panthion of gods, and there were at least 3 main ones, he called it the trinity. There may have been 5 main gods, but if there were three that were somehow related, he called it trinity. Also I find his book to be confusing.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@attyatlong cont. He also shows a lack of understanding what the true teaching on the trinity is. At times he seems to include Mary as a member of trinity. Which she has never ever been considered a member of trinity. Overall there are much better places to go to do research. I would pick up some books on acient religions if you want to. For good understanding of Christian believes "Theology for beginners" by Frank Sheed is a very good book.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@kgxxx10 I acknowledge that. i saw that point. The trtinities of Egypt etc do not equate to the trinity doctrines espoused by todays orthodox christians. I just take in the information but I can filter it and no hate is fostered at all. :-). There are other books on the same subjects that I have read too.
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong Maybe you can recognize the errors in his book. But many can't. He has been referenced by many, who are then referenced. So this errant research gets carried on and buried.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@k0smon Additionally I am convinced because I see a united brotherhood of races, socio-economic levels, languages, nationalities that I see the bible effecting in JW's .I also see a high moral standard taught and carried out as a group ( obviously excepting individuals) This is a goal the world woulld like to acheive but fails to do. This TO ME indicates a force beyond humans serving humans as you describe.
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong Thomas Paine is reputed to have stated that if you took all the good out of the bible and put it in a separate book, it would not fill a hundred pages. I see the bible as a collection of ancient writings put together by church councils and not the 'word of God'. I believe in the Creator, but He has not written any books. Study His creation to know what He is like.
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon NT &OT Ive examined canonization principles and find no prohibitive problems. Bible acknowledges "book" of nature to learn about God @Romans 1:20 Many thoughts in bible can be summarized but after reading it 30 years I still find depth and wisdom men ignore and suffer the results to this day. Prophecy is the strongest proof of the bible being metaphysical. Whether it holds up as the "word of God" requires honest non-biased investigation. May I ask have you read the bible?
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong When I first started bible study, I was not impressed with its quality. It just seemed to go in circles. I have never read the bible through. I always thought that the 'word of God' would be of much higher quality than what I find in the bible.
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon objectively do you think it is fair to yourself to bring preconcieved notions s to what the bible should be like. The bible itself states that there is a need to study and have guidance. Are there particular ideas you find unpalatable? You mentioned hell for one.
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong It is not preconceived notions that is the problem, it is the reaction to what I read that is the problem. I was introduced to a book called "Oahspe" many years ago. It calls itself a bible, and I have taken to that book like you have taken to the bible. I have read it thru 5 times. There I find quality that I do not find on the bible.
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon no disrespect on the preconcieved point. I saw you cite "oahspe". what is its origin? How old is it. You say you believe in a creator but that he wrote no books so this book is one of philosophy or what?
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong The Oahspe came about in 1882, thru the hand of a physician-dentist named John Newbrough. It would be classified as "channeled ", in that he received it by way of a typewriter which had just been invented. It took him a year to receive it. It also could be considered in the spiritualism category. It teaches Jehovih, the Creator. (No relation at all to the JWs).
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon I see. Interesting. I have read a channeling book before but I dont remember what it was....years ago. Jehovah the creator corroborates the bible I guess. Jehovah/YhWh and varying name permutations existed long before the modern day JW religion. Does Oashpe acknowledege Jesus? Also what does it "get you" besides that coffin you mentioned before? :-)
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong Oahspe says that Jesus was a construct of Constantine and the Council of Nicea. It mentions a prophet by the name of Joshu who was stoned to death. The trinity is false. Only the Creator Himself is real.
I don't remember mentioning a coffin, but everyone dies, of course. Spiritualism teaches that your reward depends on how you treat other people, not on having your 'sins' forgiven. An interesting read is "A Wanderer in the Spirit Lands", free download from the internet.
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon well I certainly agree tht the bible does not teach a trinity. Jesus being a construct disagrees with roman historians of Jesus' time. He is referred to by secular historians and his earl followers were willing ti die to pass on his message hardly something someone would do for a construct. Likewise the bible indicates that how others are treated affects your outcome. e.g the famous sermon on the mount.
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong Actualy the trinity comes straight from the Bible. As far as I have been able to research there has never been a time since Christs death that the trinity has not been taught in it's current form. While it is not explictly in bible, it is implied. It is much clearer when you read New Testament in Greek.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@kgxxx10 kg you said" Actualy the trinity comes straight from the Bible."....then..... "While it is not explictly in bible, it is implied." I agree it is not explicitly in the bible.
Implications or deductions can be false. I know there are many trinity concepts. I personally just believe that ontologically Jesus and YHWH are two separate entities and persons.
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong While it is true that there are many trinity concepts. There is only one correct understanding of the trinity. While it is true that the Father and the Son are distinct persons, they are not seperate entities. Any concept of who the Father, Son and Holy Spirit that differs from what has always been accepted by true Christains since day one must be rejected. There are problems with scripture that only the trinity can correctly answer. And there is no conflict between trinity and bible
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@k0smon Burning torturous hell is not biblical as you have surmised. see Jer 7:31. The dead do not experience pain or consciousness. see Ps 146:4 and Eccl 9:5,10 Death is the opposite of life, not another phase of life. Adam and Eve who started the whole mess were given death as a penalty not hellfire and yet their progeny has to suffer an everlasting torture that they escaped?? Seems ridiculous yes? The penalty for sin is death Romans 6:23 and hell ( Heb. Sheol) is simply the place of death.

What was there before the beginning?
attyatlong 1 year ago
@DestroyIIC The bible requires guidance for it to be understood. ACTS 8;28-31 I agree with you. If there are not answers then it must be mans work. If God and Christ are real then there must be someone that can explain these things. Jesus stated that he would be with his people until the end . Mat 28:20. If there are no people who can adequately guide people then its all a lie! I personally have found satisfying answers.
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong I agree that the bible requires guidance to understand. The JW's come up with concept of Soul Sleep from misunderstanding of a couple of verses in scripture. The bible is not one book, but a collection of books written over a period of 2000 years to many different people to address many different problems in many different styles. Without this background you will never get bible. The bible is part of Christian teaching, but not the total of it.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@kgxxx10 Soul sleep? Anyway I know the bible is not one book but 66 written by 40 different writeres and that the first books NT books were written some 50 + years after Christ died. You would have to provide proof of the accurate rendering of those oral teaching/traditions. And how do you know what was taught from day one. You read this somewhere....where? I rely on the bible as God' word. who should people look to as a guide then??
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong Actualy 73 books... be no need to argue cannon. I know what was taught becuase I have read many of the Church Fathers. I know what they believed and what they believed to be false. Also why they believed it to be false. When put all together you find a constant teaching of same message with no change. I do not consider these to be inspired like the bible, however they are still very valuable.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@attyatlong cont. There are too many warnings of judgement after death to ignore in NT.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@kgxxx10 khx I see your points I guess i await you putting it together so i can evaluate the points. For example i would like to see the soul sleep thing. Show how the OT taught it. Is there documentation that the Isrealites believed it before the Greek period of domination? The proof that the idea came from arabia ( thru what agency) . Give me the cites or the books I can read on this in particular
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong First the believe in an afterlife predates Greek culture. The Egyptions believed in afterlife (hence pyramids!). We see God drilling into the heads of the Isrealites that there is One God, where Egyptians believed in many. We don't see God drilling into their heads about no afterlife. Yet belief was common among nieghouring cultures. We have Saul contacting Samual. Why would God prohibit divinitation if it were impossible to contact the dead? The one verse the witnesses fall to ....
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@attyatlong cont is Ecc 9:5. However Ecc is a lamenation of the frivoloty of life. And how it is so fleeting. And how we all suffer the same fate. It's primary concern is with this life, not the next. In terms of references check out Eucibius's History of the Church (XXXVII) About the same time others arose in Arabia, ... They said that during the present time the human soul dies and perishes with the body, but that at the time of the resurrection they will be renewed together.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
@kgxxx10 I know the afterlife concepts originated in Egypt although pyramids were never used as tombs; no burials having ever been found in any pyramid. Actually the Egyptians believed in one main God Ptah. ( still learning about this). divination was not prohibited because there are spirit creatures who can imitate the dead in the same ventrioquist style satan used in eden. To avoid contact with these spirits divination was prohibited.
attyatlong 1 year ago
@attyatlong I know why divination was prohibited. You don't know if you will get a demon or a person. Besides if God wants you to know these things he will reveal it. These have knowledge which we should not have. So of it may be false, some true, we can't tell. But you can't prohibit something that is not possible. If it was a prohibition against contacting spirit creatures I would agree, however it is a prohibition against summoning the dead.
kgxxx10 1 year ago
