Kenjutsu, kyudo, Bujinkan/Ninjutsu, Kendo, Iaido etc. is material arts from the Japanese Samurai warriors many Japanese material arts/budo have a connection to the popular samurai warriors.
@BuddhaZenMind A lot of people are self-righteous, and like to put themselves as ultimate judges and sensors of Martial, judging what they don't understand/like as inefficient. So the thing is to watch the videos, demonstrations etc, decide if it's for you or not, and do what you want. I know that this martial art is efficient, had a lot of friends telling me about their personal experience on the field. Now, if someone doesn't like it, it's his choice.
1. "Ninjutsu" is a pop-culture term, but its real history was decentralized and kept quiet for a long time for a reason and most historical texts about it are in Japanese only to my knowledge.
2. This art uses a lot of small movements to take balance and form locks, so it may look fake to those used to other martial arts, and not many have experienced martial arts beyond the dojo (perhaps thankfully).

@DarkShroom It is if you're not paying attention to the right things. Ninjutsu is strange because the technique is not what's important. What's important is discovering the principles that make technique work. Once you have ingrained those principles into your mind and body, you no longer fight with a specific technique in mind, you simply act. The reason why technique is taught, is to show you those principles in different situations so you may have a more holistic understanding of them.

Wow you guys are both dumb asses. it's Takagi Yoshin Ryu style it's a combination of sword countering and Kenjutsu( sword fighting which includes disarms and grappling techniques) not kendo which is just strict martial sport. As far as Hatsumi Soke goes what he teaches is more along the lines of Ninpo ( way of enduring spirit) and yes it is ninjutsu it might not be the hyped up crap you see but real martial arts don't look fancy they get the job done. Real combat arts rarely show flashy moves.
It's Takagi Yoshin ryu Jutaijutsu. It's a form of japanese jujutsu. Only three schools in the Bujinkan are technically considered "ninja" schools, despite the fact that that is the theme Hatsumi sensei teaches under. Jujutsu and jutaijutsu refer to the same sort of fighting. Historic japanese jujutsu is a little different from the modern styles, and I'd even say it has more parallels to the Bujinkan than what most people call ninjutsu.
cant find it at the moment... still looking for it tho... but in the meantime... be a dear and name for me anyone who he has taught... now im not talking about bujinkan im talking about full on ninjutsu
ah therein lies the rub... the art of ninjutsu dies with hatsumi he has gone on record stating that he will not teach it...
my problem is that the word ninjutsu is too easily thrown onto far too many videos where it truly doesnt belong
that said there are no videos of true ninjutsu
nice attempt to force me into a corner tho... kinda backfires when u ask for something that doesnt exist tho... not to mention showing YOUR lack of homework
The Bujinkan or "Divine Warrior House" is an international training organization based in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. It is headed by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, the current generation head of nine ko-ryu or feudal-era traditions passed to him by his teacher, Toshitsugu Takamatsu. Ninjutsu is what this organization teaches. True ninjutsu, is a complete system of combat, based on nine traditions of ninja, as far back as 900 years. Does that help?
Well I'm certainly not an expert on this but... basically, the Bujinkan is an organization of 9 different martial arts. 6 of them where used by the Samurai, and 3 of them by the Ninja. Basically, Hatsumi doesn't teach ALL the skills of the ninja, as some involve poison and such. He emphasizes Taijutsu, the body art, which is basically hand-to-hand combat. If you train with him, don't expect him to teach you how to sneak around, kill emperors and burn down castles. Hope this helps.
Hatsumi was taught all that goes with being a ninja in Medieval Japan. In the 70's he 1.) understood the lack of a need for many of the Medieval stuff (poisons...raiding castles etc.) 2.) he DID see an application for the hand-to-hand stuff AND he wanted to test if it really worked...so
Ninjutsu is everything, poisons and all. BUJINKAN is the organization that teaches mostly the hand-to-hand stuff FROM ninjutsu.
@Arteanor Credentialism. No amount of scrolls, historians, endorsements, titles, awards, recognitions, etc. from even the Japanese government itself can counter some youtuber saying "Well, this or that is fake." In 1,000 years, someone can say your existence now is fake too and they will have no evidence to support that claim.
The best I can suggest is to simply call the Bujinkan IN JAPAN and ask. Get someone who speaks Japanese to help if you don't. Any source I give will not satisfy you.
"No amount of scrolls, historians, endorsements, titles, awards, recognitions, etc. from even the Japanese government itself can counter some youtuber saying "Well, this or that is fake."'
are you describing your own position? or attempting to setup a weak strawman?
you seem to take issue with discussions of evidence, but let me be more clear, hatsumi claims multiple scrolls/densho, which he claim date to the edo period, but takamatsu said he received none in the BRD, odd hmm?
"Again, I suggest calling Hatsumi's "place" and asking questions, then drawing your own insights."
ah i hoped you would say that. would it be ok if the author of the book Shinobi Soldiers did it? he asked to be able to see the ninjutsu scrolls that the bujinkan members of YT claim are open viewing, the response from hatsumi was that he already published his ninjutsu scrolls but he has only ever shown the ones for budo, and this was all he would consider.
"Unless you build a time machine and use it, you'll never find out what really went on."
except we are speaking of a time that is NOT beyond our purview to deduce.
if there is a claim being made ( like a 800 year old koryu ninjutsu ryu) then the burden of evidence is on the claimant. and if you are not willing to support your claims, don't expect serious people to take you serious.
the precise reason hatsumi is not in a koryu/kobudo organization.
it's always fun when someone in debate CLAIMS their position has evidence EVERYWHERE, muslims chistians geo-centrists aids denialists..
"BJK is the organization that teaches mostly the hand-to-hand stuff FROM ninjutsu"
uh, sure it is.. and what makes you believe the style of martial arts you are being told is 'ninjutsu' isn't? what if its misnamed/renamed? it would make sense since the scrolls say it is bujutsu not budo
i do not use MAP, i prefer sites that do not allows such flagrant and baseless accusations steeped in logical fallacies, to masquerade as the truth...
when the mods stop letting the trolls dictate the rules, that may change...
want a real discussion? go to E-budo com quite possibly the BEST forum for budo i have seen.
"The best I can suggest is to simply call the Bujinkan IN JAPAN and ask"
TSOAS2008's new video shows what that gets us... go check it out...
to my understanding, bujinkan is just some of the teachings on ninjutsu, i train in a different style. I would consider any style of ninjutsu true ninjutsu, it may just not have some things or may take things from other styles. The style i train in uses many concepts form aikido, jujitsu, and other styles not just ninjutsu
basically ninjutsu is one part of the training, the part he doesn't actively teach everyone because nobody really wants to practice stealth, gathering herbs, making smoke bombs and the like, nor is there really any need for it. so bujinkan budo taijutsu is just the martial art aspect of 'ninpo' according to his long time student Stephen Hayes.
stephen hayes is a bitch and disrespected the dojo and his board was put in the herb drawer which is to b forgotten. i study this form and have meet dr.hatsumi in japan and the states its more than defending and stealth its a way of life
and i'm sure hatsumi would just love that you're going around slandering people and calling them names...probably people you've never met at that. what are you 12?
"relates Taijutsu to Ninjutsu and to the Bujinkan" my only point is that none of these things ARE the other. bujinkan is NOT ninjutsu it is a different art... i realize this destroys your fantasy that you are studying ninjutsu but unfortunately, you arent... i cant make that much clearer...
240p we meet again...

you seem to take issue with discussions of evidence, but let me be more clear, hatsumi claims multiple scrolls/densho, which he claim date to the edo period, but takamatsu said he received none in the BRD, odd hmm?

@Arteanor I have no position, I only present summation from what I have gathered.
You will find that truth, reality, and fact are basically separate but there are shaded areas in the spectrum/continuum where they merge.
Again, I suggest calling Hatsumi's "place" and asking questions, then drawing your own insights.
Unless you build a time machine and use it, you'll never find out what really went on.

"Ninjutsu is everything"
it's always fun when someone in debate CLAIMS their position has evidence EVERYWHERE, muslims chistians geo-centrists aids denialists..
A square is also a rectangle.

i do not use MAP, i prefer sites that do not allows such flagrant and baseless accusations steeped in logical fallacies, to masquerade as the truth...
when the mods stop letting the trolls dictate the rules, that may change...
want a real discussion? go to E-budo com quite possibly the BEST forum for budo i have seen.
"The best I can suggest is to simply call the Bujinkan IN JAPAN and ask"
TSOAS2008's new video shows what that gets us... go check it out...

"Ninjutsu is everything, poisons and all. BUJINKAN is the organization that teaches mostly the hand-to-hand stuff FROM ninjutsu."
ninjutsu is NOT everything...
in fact. there is NO EVIDENCE to suggest that ninjutsu IS or INCLUDES any sort of Martial art ( fighting) components.
however there is lots that shows that the ninjutsu claims made by hatsumi are untrue...
complete lack of historical densho, fictional teachers, changing the name to togakure ryu.

to my understanding, bujinkan is just some of the teachings on ninjutsu, i train in a different style. I would consider any style of ninjutsu true ninjutsu, it may just not have some things or may take things from other styles. The style i train in uses many concepts form aikido, jujitsu, and other styles not just ninjutsu
flybyguitar 2 years ago
basically ninjutsu is one part of the training, the part he doesn't actively teach everyone because nobody really wants to practice stealth, gathering herbs, making smoke bombs and the like, nor is there really any need for it. so bujinkan budo taijutsu is just the martial art aspect of 'ninpo' according to his long time student Stephen Hayes.
kempobrad 2 years ago
stephen hayes is a bitch and disrespected the dojo and his board was put in the herb drawer which is to b forgotten. i study this form and have meet dr.hatsumi in japan and the states its more than defending and stealth its a way of life
KOC23LBJ 2 years ago
and i'm sure hatsumi would just love that you're going around slandering people and calling them names...probably people you've never met at that. what are you 12?
kempobrad 2 years ago
certain of those elements such as stealth, and crude blinding powder (baby powder) is taught. Not poison and other metsubushi though

your own words defeat you
"relates Taijutsu to Ninjutsu and to the Bujinkan" my only point is that none of these things ARE the other. bujinkan is NOT ninjutsu it is a different art... i realize this destroys your fantasy that you are studying ninjutsu but unfortunately, you arent... i cant make that much clearer...
Creationsofmyown 3 years ago 2
you are incorrect... bujinkan is NOT ninjutsu
why do you think Hatsumi-san has NEVER called it that?
Creationsofmyown 3 years ago
this video is incorrectly tagged as ninjutsu... this is jujutsu
