  • i remember watching this on TOTP back in '73 - and i get the same feeling today as i did back then ! DYNAMITE !

  • Anyone notice how it really sounds like Muse ripped off T. Rex with their song Super massive black hole.

  • The riffs ARE similiar...and at the same time...there's nothing new under the sun...EVERYTHING has been influenced, begged or borrowed from something else.

  • YES!

  • If Rock and Roll was a competition you just know you're beeaten from the first 5 Secounds of this Track :)

  • @HISATdotCOM

Couldn't put it better myself, that riff serves notice to sit up and listen, awesome! Bolan underrated legend!!!!!!!!!

  • @HISATdotCOM Got that right !!!

  • glamtastic marc in 73 wow

  • Most brutal and heavy riff from the 70's,Marc was the man! sorry Bowie..

  • @MetalThrasher90 I'd say this riff was a close second to Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple.

  • @MetalThrasher90 I would go as far as to say its the heaviest of the 70's, but i agree hes better than Bowie

  • @MetalThrasher90 you got that right ! ! !

  • @MetalThrasher90 Marc was a great genius, but Bowie was a God.

Glam Rock... one of the greatest highlight of Rock n'Roll (along with psychedelic and prog rock of course)

  • bolans best

  • Marc Bolan is a legend...he is the same category with Robert Plant, Ian Hunter, Ian Gillan, David Coverdale, and Freddie Mercury.

  • He was such a fucking badass....

  • So ahead of his time. He had a band before T. Rex called John's Children. They were the first punks.

  • Maybe this was the last we see of T.Rex on the ZDF archive only this tiny 1 minute 52 second clip for TOTP. but they was going to show the Glitter performance "Leader of the Gang" later in 1973 and refused to show it afterwards.

  • Mmmmmmm. The delicious Marc.

  • Excellent wonderful stuff - they dont make them like that anymore : (

  • Long live Marc Bolan!! Johnny Depp please do Marc's life story you're the closest likeness to him xxxxxxxxxx

  • sexy as hell

  • Our 20th century boy at his glammed up best!

  • YUM!!!!!!

  • is he singing live or are my loudspeakers crap??Or is it both playback and live singing??

  • yes a live vocal, check out i love to boogie for a fully live t rex top of the pops performance!

  • Usually the band went into the studio and recorded a backing track then mimed to that while Marc sang live. So the TOTP versions are often different to the singles the classic example being Teenage Dream. Sadly the BBC destroyed so much of their archive not just TOTP but shows like Dr Who as well. What remains is like this edited versions from German television shows such as Beatclub.

  • Great. Thanks. What happened to the rest? Glad Bolan's still living on in people's minds and hearts..

  • The BBC junked this, and it only exists because of the German station kept this copy but they didn't show the whole clip when they used so hence only 1 min 50 remains.

  • ROCK N ROLL---o ya----great video**********

  • my favorite song of 1973.

  • I move like cat, charge like a ram, sting like a bee, babe I want to be your man.

The beautiful, irreplaceable Mr. Feld. You have left a gap that no-one else can fill.

Love and miss you, beautiful baby.

  • So do I, isn't that strange? I actually once was invited as a dancer, awsome to think back at! Life really is strange! T:-).

  • I remenber seeing this on TOTP wow!!!

  • Great performance of a great song

  • Great - I want more, more, more!

  • I love the way he moves and the restraint of the audience!!!
