Haunting.In my 50's now and these guys seem a contradiction to me now more than the heroes of my 20's.They led what seemed carefree lives with a spirit of exploration but with what I've learned of people they also seem so haunted ,which is born out in their rampant excesses.I love their willingness to take on life but also see them running from it at times as well.Conformity still doesn't interest me but I've also found that stability gives greater joy than chaos.Tried both. What messes we are.

can someone explain this to me I read "on the road the original scroll" and it said the real names like jack kerouac and neal cassidy not sal paridise and dean moriaty. I hope i didnt read the edited version.

He originally wrote it on a scroll with all the people's real names. Then afterwords, went back and dropped in the made up names, and made other edits.
