Schuldiner - RIP a true pioneer of the genre! Nergal of Behemoth is a beast too! Akerfeldt is my overall favourite death metal vocalist because he demonstrates true diversity spanning several vocal styles. Serj Tankian of System-fame can actually growl really well IMO, judging by some of the tracks off their self-titled album and Toxicity ... (e.g. 'X' (Multiply)).

@GrotesqueKevin Phil Bozeman (Whitechapel) is an amazing vocalist , Johnny Davy is good at highs , his growls could do with abit of work though but his growls are getting better with each album , Trevor from TBDM is a terrible vocalist , His growls sound like mids , his highs are annoying as hell , and no power at all. @Shink5 I think Trevor is a better vocalist then both of those bands. I honestly don't know why The Black Dahlia Murder is even associated with the "metalcore" scene, or bands like Whitechapel, etc. TBDM is just straight up melodic death metal, latter even with a bit of melodic black metal, no break downs, no chants, no pig squeals, no emo singing. TBMD should be more associated with bands like Dark Tranquility, Vehemence, & At The Gates, because TBDM sounds nothing like "metalcore"
