now wait a minute....i can maybe understand that Harry could begarded in both...but when i was growing up...jack brickhhouse was the man..he should be in front...Harry can have the sox..and live in the legacy of both...but Jack B...needs to be remembered for he was the voice of that era
"Great Moments in Cubs Baseball" I have that album!! Bought it at Wrigley the day I attended Milt Pappas no-hitter, Sept. 2, 1972! It still plays!! :-)
My favorite birthday ever was when I got this album, a new glove AND got to go to a Cubs game -Cubs beat the Phillies 11 to 2. Before the game we met Vince Lloyd -a really nice guy- who said he would wish me a happy birthday over the air. He did, which we got to hear on the little portable radio Dad took to the game. Mom, listening at home, heard it too.
Thanks you, Vince, Lou, and Jack ( and Jim West too) !
This was a special album.. As an early teen I played this so much I actually wore out my first one. I remember buying this record at one of the Cubs games, I think late 70's. Try holding a record album, keep a score card, and balance something to drink. Do kid's today even know what I mean about scoring a game?
I can`t understand why all the glory has gone to former white sox and Cardinals`announcer Harry caray. brickhouse, boudreau, pettit and Lloyd ARE the cUBS.
@tonythetigerII So so True!!!! Harry was the Sox announcer. Jack, Lou, and Vince always will be my true Cub announcers. They should have put statues up at Wrigley of them not Harry.

BootPatrol, you have no idea what "penultimate" means, do you? Look it up, man.

Jack Brickhouse was the penultimate Cubs broadcast man - loyal, yet honest.
Jack, you are still loved and remembered.

For my money, HIS statue should be in front of Wrigley Field and not Harry Caray's.

Wonderful album. Brickhouse was too humble. But he did a wonderful job getting as many Cubs broadcasters in there as possible.

I was at the season opener when Willie Smith hit that dramatic HR in 1969. I was 14 at the time, I'll NEVER forget that moment!
