  • The storyline in this Star Trek episode is very similar to the movie "Forbidden Planet" which inspired this show.

  • I like the video screen they are watching a futuristic panel witch is now the LCD or plasma screens we have today.. wow Gene Roddenberry is really a forward thinking mind when he created this show. Amazing...

  • A woman walks in. Kirk sees her. I wonder what happens next.

    Lol

  • Kirk is such a pimp!

  • @kbroomall True,true. But thats why we love him! ; . )

  • @kbroomall Hey he was up in space for months at a time---Every man needs a little action now and then.

  • @PunkysDilema1970 19:43 It was "written" by Johannes Brahms but it was original and completely unknown. Meaning that someone made it up for the episode.

As a piano player I would recommend Brahms after much practice. Start with Debussy, Mozart, and Beethoven then Bach, Chopin, and Brahms. Watch Brahms Waltz in A Flat by lypur and you'll see why.

  • Doesn't Flint's lab look a whole lot like engineering?

  • @KarateKidX Hey,they had a limited budget!! But youre right---

  • this episode:

The enterprise is plagued by ADD and are in desperate need of Ritalin

  • @KarateKidX dude i thought the same thing nice

  • kirk why can't you kiss like normal person! you're SO awkward!! with your hands and your face and your mouth XP

  • Stardate 5843.8--Rayna has become self-aware and has discovered the power of choice. Unfortunately, this new found discovery has overwhelmed the vacuum tubes which power her, and she has keeled over from the effort.

  • why captain kirk wants to have this woman she can be his grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grandmother

  • I liked the premise of this episode. However, even for a far-out science fiction series it's just too far out to believe that Kirk, a guy who gets more intergalactic ass than a star ship toilet seat, could fall in love with someone after 20 minutes.

  • can someone plz tell me the name of the piano music that Mr. Spock plays. I am inspired to learn to play the piano as good as Spock.

  • Reyna, the most beautiful star Trek girl ever. too bad she was just a machine....

  • That robot is like "Dot Matrix" in Spaceballs...it was set to go off before Kirk did!!!....lol

  • I dunno fellas.... I just wasn't feeling it.

    Bad acting throughout the episode.

This fat-ass movie critic gives this episode a Thumbs Down.

  • 00:18 Rytalin cannot be found as a mineral on this planet -- The Earthling called Ron Popeil holds the U.S. Patent on this hair growth aerosol ; you spray Rytalin on any organic surface, and --WALLA-- filaments of real human hair grow where no hair has grown before !

6:37 I enjoy that Sza-Sza chick, she's vacant, but pretty

  • bolognia on whiiite whiiite PUDDING CUP!

  • Androids either put off strong phermons or Kirk has Rigellian Fever!!! ;-)

  • @QuanTom39 on the contrary, Kirk is a traitorous toaster frakker

  • 13:07 did she say:"internet"? :-)

  • @JaminHell

    Sounds like it

  • On my third watch, she said "intellect"

"less than that is betrayal of the intellect"

  • 1. Kirk tried to fight for an android woman when he had other chances with real women? 2. I wish Spock had his brandy so we could see his human side come out more. 3. Kirk, you're ship is in trouble. What's wrong with you? 4. Flint could have made another android...

  • Spock: Captain, your primitive instincts will not alter the situation.

Kirk: STAY OUT OF THIS; WE'RE FIGHTING OVER A WOMAN!

    *facepalm*

  • they needed RI-TAL-IN to cure their disease? lemme get this strait, RI-TAL-IN. More like RITALIN. What did they have ADD or something?

  • One of those times when the story was more important than the characters. Kirk acted a bit to much out of character. His love has always been his ship. This girl wasn't even his type. But the story seemed to be more about the concept of love and it's multitasking issues and complexity. And a bit about being alone as well and what that might be like. Kirk was just a tool for the story as much as he was for Flint until Flint also became his own tool.

Still unsure what it was about.

  • Her tits poke through her shirt more than others, but her hair color is faker than the rest.

  • that was nice of spock at the end. i wonder if when he mind melded with kirk he felt some of his love and pain?

  • How SELFISH of Kirk, imposing his wishes on her. This is in direct contradiction to how he treated Vanna in the Gamesters of Triskellion where he seduced the poor girl and then just left her!

  • lol Reyna dies

  • Nomad version 0.1 colander and Christmas lights LOL

  • Ritalin = ritalin!

  • spock's face is perfection...

  • kirk is a horny fucker

  • kirk was way too illogical in the end for my liking.

  • Vic Mignogna's favorite Star Trek Episode!

  • @LaromZenshin I'm not alone!! Hi there! ^_^;

  • @){++++++++++++

  • I love how Kirk knows the girl for less than a day and he's already "in love" -_-

  • Looks like "little Jim" is at it again!

  • Anyone want to do a count of how many episodes the phasers fail magically? I'd guess at about 20%.

  • Yeah, Kirk is a great captain but he needs to keep it in his pants.

  • @ThriceThursday what a waste that would be lol

  • Kirk sure does fall in love fast. He's known her for like, what, 2 hours?

  • @wolfborn10 I think he confuses love with physical desire. He IS on a ship for a long time without getting laid

  • @xxbeautybabesxx Lol, that's one the presumption one gets once you watch enough of these episodes...

  • @xxbeautybabesxx *NOT the presumption. Bleh.

  • @xxbeautybabesxx what makes you think he's not getting laid on that ship?

  • This episode my be my all-time favorite. Truly beautiful.

  • Kirk is always eye ballin the ladies.

  • I see Nomad has been put to use again. The Enterprise Incident, he was the cloaking device used by the Romulan and now here he is again.

  • She looks like Jane Fonda.

  • @BondFreek even communists have rights. although they shouldnt

  • @naruto5665. Jane Fonda is more then a communists, She visited our troops in a concentration camp collected personal messages that they wanted smuggled out, and then turned around and gave their messages to the commandant.

  • @naruto5665. Jane Fonda betraid our troops.

  • Ritalin cures Rigellian fever? Neat.

  • this is one of the very best episodes, so wonderful!

  • couldn't he have just given Kirk one of those eralier models?

  • Comment removed

  • Not the best episode, but arguably the best ending. That was incredibly moving. I adore Spock!

It was a little phantom-esque for any Phantom of the Opera fans out there...

  • I want That Model!!!!!!!

    Its is sooooooo cute!

  • Comment removed

  • 24:41

Doesn't that look like The Cage?

  • At 23:39

What is soooo scary about the robot?

  • I guess it's only logical Spock would play the piano. It uses the same part of the brain in which mathematics is used.

  • Bones:"I just wish He would forget..."

I knew what Spock was thinkin =D

*oh lets erase his memory yea that will work*

    I was right lol

It was so cute Spock carin in a brotherly way for Jim made my heart melt <3. it's like in wrath of Khan except it was MCcoy and he said "Remember" XD

  • Wait a second.....that ENDING WAS BRILLIANT.

The Love and Concern of a FRIEND- The caring of Spock.

  • Bones: oh Sorian Brandy over 100 yrs old...Spock I know you won't have some Heaven forbid those perfect mathematical brain waves be corrupted by this all to human vice"

Spock "Thank You Doctor I will have a brandy"

    Kirk: *Shocked face*

Bones: "do you think the two of us can handle a drunk Vulcan? once that alcohol hits that green blood Whoohoo!"

roflmao I laughed so hard XD

  • ONe of the most ridiculous stories....how could Kirk fall "in love" so quickly???

  • so basically their crew serverely needed ritalin to get better

  • @sevenx4life Priceless. I've always chuckled and thought the same.

  • flint looks so similar to sarek

  • @CmorandAflo I thought I was the only one who noticed that. Nice call!

  • ERRATA: can't argue that it WAS the pussy..

Also, this episode reminded me of the Amber-Wilson story arc from House. For those who know/care, I have always wondered how can Wilson (after 3 marriages and many girlfriends) fall so hopelessly in love with a girl that her death (again not House's fault) causes him to quit his job/ alienate House/ move away. Bit of an over-reaction!

  • As others have said, the fact that a womanizer like Kirk falls so emotionally in love with an android so quickly does not make sense. And one can't argue that it wasn't the pussy because as an android she specifically does not have 'true' feelings for him. A little wave of the hand on the writers part.

  • The writer of this episode (Jerome Bixby) has penned a brilliant movie that expands on the idea of being an immortal in the modern world. It is called "The Man From Earth". Do yourself a favor and rent/buy this dvd. I will personally reimburse the cost if anyone is dissatisfied! ;)

  • @Rioth Nice tip, I looked it up and...yeah I'll be seeing that ASAP

  • Last clip= total act of pure love.

  • Reyna is played by Louise Sorel. Vivian from Days of our lives

  • honk honk to the robot

  • Did anyone else want Spock and Rayna to discuss sub-dimensional physics? I know I looked forward to that conversation, LOL! But of course, horn dog Kirk had to mess that up...

  • @DarlingNikki2 Yeah I was bummed when they skipped the sub-dimensional physics talk

  • spock playing the piano? suddenly melts into big puddle of mush.

  • If I were Kirk, I'd be embarrassed that I got my ass kicked by a guy in Tights.

  • She looks like Lady GaGa

  • 28:59

    Spock says:

" It's logical to assume that we are being monitored." Ironic that Spock says this while they appear to be on an present day style LCD monitor :D

    That Flint guy was amazing.

  • @aleon1018 Perhaps he left Earth in that Universe before SONY had perfected their 3D TV! ;-)

  • o-o ... The ENDING.

  • Kirk getting his ass kicked....

this is "grown up," "seasoned" Kirk, CAPTAIN Kirk, not "cadet Kirk" from the movie.

    This is a rarity.

Then again how many fights has "Flint" been in I wonder....

  • just fish in a fish bowl.

that is all Kirk, McCoy and Spock were to Flint, fish in a fish bowl.

how the hell do you reason with someone who sees you that way?

  • I think talked about this theory to a friend of mine regarding a silly video game idea I've got; if a human being, were to be rendered immortal, without the soul being purified first, they would become consumed by hubris.

Poor Rayna, is a monument to Flint's monstrous ego. That is why he loves her.

    that's just sick.

  • How in the physical universe does one undergo "soul purification"?

  • "everything is connected" and all that junk.

  • Huh? Everything affects everything else, sure... but what does that have to do with "soul purification"? Are you suggesting that things around this "soul" be purified in order to prevent hubris?

  • right, actually, correct;

the human ego is stubborn; you take someone of social, economic and political importance, place them outside in near freezing temperatures, strip them naked and let the cold set in, and even as their body struggles with the cold they'll STILL be arrogant.

That is how monstrous the human ego is, which is why making the soul pure is so difficult.

  • The reason the monks of the Shaolin temple train so hard at Kung Fu, and endure training akin to torture, is to give the mind no choice but to recognize the body's limits, and hopefully help eliminate arrogance and self conceit. The way the Daoist hermits do it, is by simply withdrawing from society period; no on to criticize, or praise you, no one to destroy, or magnify, your ego. That's where the reasoning comes from.

  • The way the ancient Hebrews did it, was by living in the desert; alone. The wilderness of Israel, especially the negev, is still some of the most dangerous in the world. If the arid nature doesn't get you, Beduin drug smugglers and gun runners will. In ancient times, it was brigands and thieves. Normally though in ancient times nobody bothered hermits; I doubt modern crooks living in the desert would either.

  • the argument of most religions is, that Heaven, or "God," or "transcendent reality" whatever you call it, is in fact all around us; it is in fact your own arrogance that blocks it out.

Different spiritual and philosophical traditions have developed different, sometimes strange, ways of crushing the human ego. The Shaolin do it through Kung Fu, the Daoists through living like hermits and "emptying the mind," Muslims, through Jyhad, endless Koran recitation.

  • Modern Judaism however, is by its very nature corrupt, cowardly, and as interpreted by the Talmud just plain evil. No Orthodox Jew anywhere in Israel, likely believes in God so much, they'd be willing to place their life in his hands, and have the courage to live alone in the desert. They even went so far as to write in the religion, that ALL supernatural phenomena is "magic."

  • The whole prohibition of magic in Judaism, was made by corrupt Levite priests, so that if any supernatural power wielding faithful to God types showed up, the people would condemn them. How can I put this another way? If you do not want to be exposed as a money grubbing fraud that doesn't really believe in God, the best thing to do, is to condemn ALL miracles, as works of the devil, or as works of magic.

  • Judaism does not hold the view, that the soul can be purified, the Rabbis do not care if you glow with perfect health, they do not care if your soul is so pure flowers may grow wherever you step even; their condemnation of magic, is rooted in the need to protect themselves from being exposed as the hypocritical frauds that they are. Islam, has a similar prohibition.

  • Now, not everything supernatural indeed comes from god; virtually all spiritual traditions beyond the Abrahamic ones war, that yes there are demons, yes there are evil spirits, and rather than nourishing your body and soul, they exact a heavy toll for their services. They could demand a piece of your life, causing you to age more rapidly, a child sacrifice, orgies, all kinds of grotesqueries.

  • Delving in the occult, is EXTREMELY dangerous; the reason witches are portrayed as cadaverous old crones, is rooted in the fact that evil spirits will, again, exact a form of "payment" for their services. Although God, or Buddha, or whoever it is, does not demand payment, the ruler of the universe DOES demand intense effort.

  • Believe it or not George Lucas actually had it right;

In things dealing with spiritual matters there IS a "dark side," a "quick and easy path."

All magic requires, is ritual, the right incantations, and combinations of herbs and what not, and, anyone can be initiated into it believe it or not. In short its the "quick and easy path."

However attaining the Dao, Buddhist Nirvana, or ancient Hebrew prophethood, by contrast, requires the deepest sacrifices.

  • Nor can the power of heaven be used for personal convenience, whereas occult powers of evil spirits, can be.

  • I wanted to spare you a lecture but, since you asked....

  • I wish you hadn't said all that about Judaism. I understand that arrogance blinds up, yes, but what makes you think that Jews are all arrogant? Wait, no. I think that if I provoke you any more, one or both of us will have some consequences to suffer. The argument you make does, I think you should know, ignore the fact that most religion requires a belief that there is one right path-- and this is always the path of the believer. It fosters arrogance. I do think that your view is off, sorry.

  • *slams palm to eyes, and shakes head*

  • How like my physiological reaction to your comments. We may be quite alike, apart from our respective world views... Anyhow, goodbye!

  • 35:50 - 42:00

He's psychotic; I think the writer of this episode agrees with my sentiment, that someone who lived to be that age would eventually go insane.

A respectable actor; I like how he handled an "immortal character."

  • They arrive at this planet for a drug called 'RYE TALIN'.... aka... ritalin.

  • Yeah, I got that too. I wonder when Ritalin was named... it could have been a nod either way, right?

  • that's Louise Sorel.

  • I know it's irrelevent to the episode but...that's some ass on Bill Shatner! Wowza.

  • I agree, I noticed his butt in another episode, can't remember which-

    cheers to all-

  • Haha of course Spock is an accomplished musician. I wonder if he can cook too =P

  • KIRK AND SPOCK FOREVER.

  • Stay out of this! We're fighting over a woman!

  • I love how Kirk's entire crew is about to die and all he can think about is getting it on with the android......geez.....talk about misplaced priorities.

  • Didn't Kirk only know her for like.. two hours?

  • yeah, Kirk was a little off the wall in this one, falling for an android-

I love Spock in this- he wants Kirk to keep it together, but tries to keep him from seeing the androids, 'cause it'll hurt him-

And he's so eloquent in this on love and other things-so is McCoy, all in all a great episode

  • maybe she had a vibrator function; specifically speaking a female android is called a "gynoid," and maybe their pussy could be modified to vibrate.

  • I Knew it fool! I saw it right from the onset she was bald!

  • You realize that Deltans are bald, right? So it doesn't really matter.

  • What happened to the Prime Directive? How many times did Spock have to remind "Captain" Kirk to keep his mind on the welfare of his crew? Kirk should be restricted from landing party duty and glued to his throne on the bridge.

  • lol I can so imagine Bones and Spock gluing Kirk's butt and feet to his captains chair with gorilla glue and then go "sorry it's for your own good" lol XD

  • Look at that chunky baby in picture on wall at 07:10!!! :) Is that a Michael Angelo painting or De Vinci painting? wow;)

  • Dear Kirk,

You're an ass. You throw yourself at anything with a pulse and can't accept it if they don't feel the same way. You always blow off Spock even though he treats you like gold and always protects you from your own arrogance. Jerk. And you think you're soooo fucking charming......well, ya kinda are. That's why you're Kirk, and that's why we love you.

  • rahyna looks bipolar and definately supressed.

  • Kirk pisses me off in this episode.

God damn it, keep it in your pants for 2 seconds.

  • lucky man with all those babes through the years.

  • How come all the floating robots of Star Trek sound like they have Dodge Slant 6's under the hoods?

  • SPOILERS:

Am I the only one to notice that when Spock touches Kirk's face at the end and says "Forget", it's almost identical to when he touches McCoy's face in "Wrath of Khan" and says, "Remember?"

  • good call

  • thats because he is doing a Vulcan mind meld in both instances

  • wdh? id be mad too sht. that was bs kirk bs.

  • kirk you silly man, not a good idea to make a mysterious host jealous...

  • i'll drink to that!

    <3 it

  • Lol, they need Ritalin...

  • yeah, noticed that for sure. sheesh

  • is it me or does M4 look like a cloaking device???

  • Trasporter Technology is top of the line Federation tech. but yet the closest they can can get to somthing they need really really bad to make medicine, is 2.14km, what the hell.....2 kliqs is a hell of walk for a damn plant. just beam me 2 feet next to it

  • is this reminding anyone of The Tempest?

  • goooooo incest!!!

  • he loves her? But she is her family!

  • Question: At the end, when Spock mind-melds with sleeping Kirk, does he do so to feel Kirk's love for Rayna so that he knows what love feels like (McCoy made a strong point there before he left that could have left him curious) or to help Kirk to forget Rayna because he is a good friend? In short, what was the purpose of when Spock uttered: "Forget" at the end? Did he say it because he had felt love and wondered how anyone could forget, or was he suggesting to Kirk to forget?

  • He was making him forget her. No doubt about it.

  • @ ProfessorSasquatch13

I'm pretty sure that the "Forget" was aimed at Kirk. But you're right, I really did wonder if Spock was curious as to exactly what Kirk was feeling. If you watch his face when he melds with Kirk his eyes sort of widen in surprise and this look of sadness comes over his face. I was very touched even though this episode was a bit off putting at times. (She's an android!) Also don't forget, Vulcans can feel emotions even more than humans, they simply do not act on them.

  • She looks young enough to be his daughter. And he said she was his family. And he almost kissed her. *confused* @-@

  • It would make so much sense if Flint was Soong.

  • Wow! You love me, not Flint!

How odd for a ladies man to get irritated by a woman's lack of interest.

  • She wasn't lacking interest, Just getting confused of whom she feels closer to.

  • idk why, but kirk rly pisses me off in this episode. The girl has never seen men before, and she is obviously completely innocent in most ways and he simply takes it upon himself to get all over her the first second they're alone. u can see her "wtf" face at around 23 min. normally i'm ok with kirk, but this time just gets on my nerves.

  • Your a girl, I say that the women was the one who sent the love signals.

If your a male, don't get jealous. But I really think your a girl and obviously you've been hurt in a relationship that formed quickly like kirk and the girl. Their relationship will end badly also? It's not always like that. You can't always understand why you love this person because it comes unexpectedly , kind of like the girl not understanding her love towards Kirk. Like flint liking the girl without even knowing it.

  • I agree more with turpin here. The droid is totally innocent. The argument against child sexual abuse is that the kids don't understand the significance of sex yet-- and this is more profound a lack of understanding. Kirk is coming on to a being whose emotions have not emerged yet, much less been reasoned out and controlled to a civil degree. She is not in a position to consent. Thus, he is molesting her. Not cool, my friend. Not cool. And no, I don't have relationship issues, thank you. :)

  • 20:42

  • Don't read this if you haven't watched the whole episode yet, At the end Spock's "Forget" was like his "Remember" in Wrath of Kahn! Very cool!

  • lol spock plays piano

  • Spock is the ultimate "Wing Man"

Will help you get the lady w/the piano and then help you forget her. lol

    Go Spock!

  • Lol!! indeed!!

  • 6:39 is that the first LCD ?

  • Joyce is a nice dentist I would ..... wait I better watch what I'm saying

  • is it co-incidence that her last name is Fang?

  • Good catch Jim HA HA

  • My wife and I had wondered that ourselves.

  • "Are these questions testing whether I'm a replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard?" - Rachael

  • Just answer the questions please. - Deckard

  • "You got the wrong guy pal..." - Deckard (funny, the small statement in the movie could help build the case that Deckard was a replicant himself.

    :)

  • You know I've been a Blade Runner fan since it's release in 1982. I've seen all the versions many, many times and I've never once gotten the vibe that Deckard might be a replicant. It's just doesn't add up.

  • If that didn't go through... just do a search on "is Deckard a Replicant" the one on the BRmovie Site.

  • Also, rate my bass playing at MSpace richadler7

  • If I had a dollar for every time the crew's phasers are either inoperable or simply taken from them...
