  • Thanks man for sharing this i've been trying to learn how to do this for years.

  • Can a cheap pedal do the slide or the heel-toe technique?anyone?

  • nice rage poster! =]

  • Hey, thanks! I'll do it right away..Thanks so much! (:

  • Thats really cool man, I can do that, but still having trouble with doing with shoes on!

If you want i have a video of me just messing around on the bas drum, similar stuf to this :)

  • Does it have to be a certain type of petal? Ciz i have a tama double pedal but it dont look like urs. Is the softer flat round kind

  • thanks for the great video, helped alot (had bit of trouble sustaining the double bass pedal hits in immigrant song [led zeppelin])but now its getting easier

  • Thanks for the lesson,im finding it hard to do double strokes with my foot,it hurts lol

  • this is heel-toe slowed down right????

nice how your video is to the point, theres too many that talk to much about things that arent really that relevant. or, for some reason, start doing double strokes on the snare and stuff?? lol i dont know why people do that.

  • that is a great piece of information..,very helpful.

I have been having a hard time getting double strokes on the kick. very frustrating. I'm going to do this exercise.

Please do me one favor though, please change the angle on that mounted tom....it looks like somethimg from a Lars Ulrich nightmare i had about his drummin in the early 80s...scary.

you will get a better stick angle and much better tone if you straighten that thing out. Take a look at Eric Singer's kit.

    Great info though

  • thank you very much! oh i know, the set up of my old drum kit was horrid, i'm well aware. i hadn't been playing drums for very long when i shot this video, and still had some learning to do about ergonomics around the kit.

i've since gotten a new kit, fixed the tom angles, gotten a new camera and even some new shoes! thanks for the input- good luck with the technique!

  • have same shoes as u lol n thanks for the tips...

  • nice lesson...is tat a viper kit?

  • Nice video! I could never do the heel toe thing. I think my foot is too long!!

  • Dude, nice one! How did you get your bass drum to sound so good, is it just straight to the camera? What camera is it?

  • Thanks for the info, I'll try that out.

P.S. I have the same pedal as you on my practice kit. =)

  • lol mee too

  • kkol i gotta try that!!!

  • It doesn't look like you are using that technique in the beginning

  • sweet awesome lesson mate;)

  • thanks a lot bro!

  • Great lesson- simple and to the point- thanks!

  • no problem!

yes, it's not really of professional quality, but i wanted to share the knowledge. it's not something that you'd think of when you're trying to develop this technique.

never thought it would get this many views!

    thanks for the feedback

  • nice

  • Good video man. In addition, the camera sync problem is a pain, my camera does it too. The only way round I have found is too burn the recording onto DVD, then rip that DVD into the computer.

  • What's up with the tom angle O_o

  • that's my old drum kit- the mounting system was all screwed up

  • thanks!!!! :)

  • Cool, thanks man! I´ll try it as soon as I can. I just recently learned the slide technique, but this looks way more efficient!

  • thanks everyone! good luck let me know how it turns out! thanks for the view

  • Thats what I do!

Great method, thanks for posting it!

  • i jus slide my foot up to do those.

  • that motion is usually made easier by working this exercise out

  • great explanation. One of the hardest things to explain. Heel toe seems to be the best way to go when doing doubles. I started doing your way a couple days ago and have noticed a difference already. thank you for the help, this way really works. Great vid, please post more! how about a "how-to" on getting the left foot more independent?

  • Thanks very much for the feedback. I'm glad it's working as well for you as it did for me! I can start to work on more videos if I find something else that I know that most drummers don't haha!

  • ive gotta say man, you saved me skin there! some dick broke the double bass pedal in college and this shit makes people like HOW THE FUCK?

    thanks man your straight up

  • I'm trying it, but I dont really get it :S I do heel up, but how do I go heel down after that?

  • try to just look at what you do when you hit the stroke when your heel is on the way up, then do the exact opposite on the way down. Your foot should be in the same position when the beater makes contact with the head whether you're on the first or second stroke.

  • Good vid. I'm gonna start right now!!

  • great! let me know how it works out for you.

  • Best explanation of a double stroke on youtube. Thanks much.

  • thanks, i'm glad i could help

  • dude i need to know exactly how u dampen all the buzz off the drum set....

im a guitarist n my drummer has problems with tooooo much of sound...

plus the bass sounds like march past n not sweet

he damps the snare n toms n tener with cloth from above....bt stil the problem persists...

    i expect help...

plz try n understand wat im exactly saying n answer

  • n plz REPLY to this comment...dnt comment on this video....or i wnt know vn i get my answer...if u know wt im saying....

thanks sssoooooooo much man...im sure ur gna solve max of my problems

  • hey man. yeah, for the problems with the toms and snare you can tell him to try tightening his back heads (the ones you don't hit), and maybe the front ones too. duct tape also works WONDERS. it's really good for dampening. i have duct tape on my rack tom and floor tom, and no dampening on my snare but the heads are really tight.

  • thanks a lot man.....il try this today.....n tel ya

    thanks tons

  • as for the bass, i like keeping pillows or blankets resting against both the back head and the front head inside the bass drum. it's a pain to take the heads off and stuff it but trust me it really helps to achieve that *thud* if that's what you're looking for.

hope that helped! let me know if you need anything else
