  • the same as the last two years i've tried petruccis stretches and my arms start to feel inflamed.. :S am i doing these stretches wrong or something?

  • im trying this exercise on a steel string acoustic and it is a bastard to play.

  • @MCshlthead haha, work through it dude. It will pay off!

  • thanks a lot! (:

  • uhhaa that exercise felt good, ima start using it alot

  • This vid is awesome. I never warmed up before playing, and after about 25 years of playing there's a price to pay for that. Right before I hit 40, my hands started getting stiff and swollen after 20 minutes of playing - and no amount of Tylenol would help.

After doing these exercises, I can keep going for hours with no pain.

Do the warmups, kids. Your hands and arms will thank you when you start going grey!

  • @FSMLosst Thanks For The Comment! Keep those finger moving!

  • Rock discipline is excellent. I recommend it for all lead players.

  • he holds his guitar like Jonh Petrucci

  • thnx very helpfull my right hand feels more steady when i do this so once again i thank ya

  • could these stretches be bad for your joints?

  • Trip-a-let Trip-a-let, Trip-a-let Trip-a-let. :)

  • isnt he a kind a gay when talking?

  • Thanks for posting this. It really helped me.

  • Nice-looking Ibanez

  • check out my guitar warm up video.

    its the greatest video ever.

  • Thank you brother! good exercise, I'm gonna use it all the time.

  • 4:48 did he say nigger? XD jk

thx u helped me so mutch! :)

  • @McFro95 haha yeaa i heard it too he tried to say bigger. . .

  • @McFro95 actually i listened to it again im pretty sure he said "M"igger

  • look how bent his wrist is when he shows the exercise!

  • Man you can get your hands tired by the time u finish LOL !!!

  • There are no muscles in the hands. Lol

  • The vid title says "Warm Up Exercise #1", but he recommends to start with a STRETCH before warming up ???????

    NEVER do that.

Warmup first & then stretch, not the other way around.

  • Thats in things like sports. For fingers it doesn't matter.

  • @sirsicklick, You're so wrong. If it really wouldn't matter then why do any exercises before playing? And btw: it's not just about the fingers. It's about the muslces & tendons in hands, wrists, forearms,.... in fact it's about the whole body!

Some people just don't get it and should NOT upload anything. Basicly musicians ARE athletes. If you truly look at all the intense stuff that fingers do and how muscles and tendons in multiple body parts work together, then u might understand.

  • Errt. There are no muscles in the hands. You have to "warm-up" MUSCLES before you stretch them. You sir are wrong. ;)

  • Dude, there are muscles in your hands, wrists, and fingers.

  • And I didn't say it didn't matter. I said it doesn't matter if you stretch before you warm up.

  • Comment removed

  • just dont stretch them too far

  • The thing that is really get me is one day i sound really fucking good and fast as hell. then the next day i feel awful when i get back on it. i am not as fast and after a couple of second my shoulder starts hurting.. so hopefully these will help

  • hey man i play guitar alot i recomend not worring about playin fast as hell instead feel every note you play play slower at first always then bild up (blues) and if you shoulder hurts u should try moving it in a deferent way find a strummin that most cumfy hope this helps at all haha

  • @BuDzManson hey man i play in a goddamn metal band wich is a genre that requires me [mabye not requires] to play fast. I like playing fast and heavy musiuc. Blues is to boring for me to be able to fucking listen to some of it..

  • i just do chromatics on the first and second position of the neck with a metronome

  • ow ffs just download rock-discipline instead of wasting your time on this one.

@ rockguitarpower: not quite original aren't you?

  • He credits Petrucci during the introduction. For a guitarist you don't seem to be able to listen very well.

  • Yeah well, we all know the general youtube community users aren't really the brightest people.

  • @pixeldmg - Just for the record; you are a "general youtube community user". Congratulations.

  • John Petrucci Rip off Much?

  • thx, man

  • great warm up... got up to the D string before i had to shake it out :)

  • lols migger hand lso try pushing ur fingers back one by one ,

they strech further this way but u will feel a burn for a min or so but i actually like the feel of the burn when im goin through fast tabs

  • after you do streches you shake it off...

  • i can pull my fingers all the way back to my hand without feeling strain.

  • the migger xD, anyways good stretching lessons

  • thx for the vid..helpful man...!!!

  • thanks for the vid man, JP RD is good yes :)

  • i think he said "migger"

  • aaahahahha

  • ahhhh, shame on him... SMH!

  • @ 4:47-4:51 Did he say "nigger"??!!

  • hahahahahh YEAH HE DID, fucker thinkin about niggers instead of biggers

  • haahhaha i heard that too!

  • Lol he did.

  • If you actually listen to it he says MIGGER.

  • Yeah it's actually Migger :P
