@ivansmv They're basically the same, the only differences are the plastics.
The engine internals are equal, only the exhaust headers are different, the 520 has dual headers, the 525 has 1 header. In terms of performance the 520 EXC and the 525 EXC are equal
So, how much hp do you think is able to get out of stock size barrel of the DT?
I think the only way to improve hp is mod the exhaust duration and pipe length to make it rev higher, and shift the awesome torque to higher rpm's, and swap a bigger carb with boyesen reeds to give low end torque back, and giving it more food@higher revs.
Does the stock cdi restrict too much? It's a variable ignition advance curve anyways. Thanks!
I'm building a dt no expense spared all ready done single sided swing arm, usd's , sub frame chop, tuned engine, carbon rear body, but need tuned pipes can't find contact info for lufo please help don't wan't dep ect, need real pipes please get in touch.............help

@colicabcadam 520 stock has steel valves. 9200rpm is about the max you can go without mecanical failure. My 525/600SX[(570TR BB + Stroker Crank)68whp/51ft/lbs] revs out at 10540rpm with titanium valves but the cost every 6 months almost isnt worth it. Also the 520 is a under powered 45whp bike with 35ft/lbs torque and probably weighs twice what that bugger does.
@BroLyPB Go race (sorry lose to) a stock 03 525SX with nobbies on it. Also what has been done to the KTM? What are his Gear gatios?
@CPLKloewer the KTM has stock gear ratios (EXC, wide) and it's using 14 - 42 transmission for ~170 real km/h. On the video @ full 5th it makes real 150 km/h.
I also possess now an Husaberg FS 650e with DOMA silencer, which is obviously faster than the 520 or the 525SX you've mentioned .. and other 4-Stroke thumpers aswell ...
The question is, the 520 has +45whp and has decent torque and makes around fast 170 km/h with 14 - 42, still the DTR 125 tuned hybrid could keep up. And that's amazing ;)
@BroLyPB I will agree that it is exceptionaly cool. There is someting to be said for a light bike what does it weigh and whats the RPM range? The trail grearing kills the EXC. Hey your 650 has 54-58whp and isnt taking my bike but they are an awsome baha bike and I'm sure Supermoto (And if it did i would probably have to off myself or my wife might do it for me with all the money I've put into it(Women and getting angry when you spend close to $18,000 on a $2,000 bike... I just dont understand!)!
@CPLKloewer The Berg 650 has stock 58 rwhp, mine actually has Doma pipe and new jetting, so prolly 61 - 62 rwhp.
The "CRR" has big-bore 190cc, makes around 13000rpm (not in neutral), but it only runs well above 9500rpm, bellow that it has poor power / torque because the exhaust valve is always open.
It weighs about 90 - 95kg, not comparable with the 72 - 75kg of a 125 GP ........ ;)
Both engines are fine, but the CRM has 54.5mm stroke, the DTR has 50.6mm which is better for more top rpm with reliability.
The DTR is also nice because you can big bore it hugely with great top rpm (like I've mentioned before).
Both engines are better than 125 motocross engines for tuning, because you can have almost 200cc, and on the 125 motocross the maximum is around 150cc .. so you can't compete with 450 & 520 & 525 with a 125 motocross tuned engine ..

The engine is from a Yamaha DTR 125 (28hp & 125 km/h stock).
It's heavily tuned now obviously. :)
