Wow! A scene we will never get to see or experience again. Amfleet cars are not as roomy, nor ride as comfortably as those classic Budd and Pullman Standard streamliner cars. No comparison.
I rode a version like that in the summer of1975. In the vestibule with the top of the dutch door opened as we rounded Horseshoe Curve and proceeded upgrade, the Mars light bouncing off the rocks and the chugging sound of the E8's as they pulled 18 cars.
Rode the Broadway Limited from Ohio to Pennsylvania; what an experience! Still remember it years later; I hope to ride Amtrak again one of these years! FIVE Stars!
I love the sound of trains. Unless they come in the middle of the night, in the middle of a thunderstorm, then I think, TORNADO!! LOL Nice capture. Rode the Broadway Limited (I think that was it) from Crestline, Ohio to Philadelphia, Pennslyvania in 1978 (graduation present). It was fun! For three days after, felt like I was still on train. Five stars!
Yes, Crestline to Phily would be the on the Broadway Limited. Crestline had a nice station which was unfortunately torn down in place of an 'Am-shack'.
Wow Es on a passenger train as late as 1979!!

Nah, that's Phase II Amtrak paint. Red, White & Blue. Bad transfer from Super 8 Film to VHS messed the colors up.

Yes, but the pies from the YMCA were good in the middle of the night waiting for the thing.
