Really powerful & upsetting stuff in this vid. I've done so and donated sum pesos here in Perth. God bless those who've lost their homes and loved ones. My heart goes out to them all.
Thanks for sharing this, wow very powerful video indeed and very nice of you to donate some jewellery, wonderful :-) i'm sure they'll appreciate it!!! I wish there was something i could do, besides money cause i don't have that. :-(
Heidi- i really am sure there is something-it's not all about money... maybe you could make something for a family... give old clothes, kitchen ware etc
this is the time to show love , and to pull together , our hearts are with you , i grew up in california , and we had fires and they still do i remember my father , unkle ,and my brother in law going out to fight the fires as a part of their jobs , , but i will never for get how close they came to us , my prayers are with you
Ah, but how do we know it's random? I am not really surprised that no one has considered the possibility that these fires were not just intentionally lit by random firebugs, but that this was a coordinated plan, financed by those who will profit from a carbon tax. If you notice, the media jumped on this from the get go crying 'global warming'! Sure these fires are the worst, but is that because it has been significantly hotter and drier, or is it because so many fires sprang up out of nowhere?
check this out ! look for WORLD COVERAGE OF BUSHFIRES. U will find a post called Australian bushfires...... burn baby burn, plz dont hezatate in leaving a nice msg for the worm
YES-you are completely right-there are dead set idiots out there, but the two are separate issues, controlled burning and fire breaks may not have helped you, but it most certainly would have saved others as per the guy who did clear his land and suffered a $100,000 fine but still has his house.
i totally get what you are saying and the one guy who DID clear his property and was fined $100,000 still has his home. We all love the environment, but if it had been allowed to be cleared in a controlled way we would not have LOST everything there!!!
The bushfires were caused by a handful of EXTREMIST idiots, not green policy. Sorry to all those affected by the bushfire. The whole south-east Australian area is prone to extreme bushfire events. That is the risk living in densely vegetated areas. A controlled burnoff may have reduced the fires intensity, but as you might know the consequence to this is biodiversity loss. Shift the towns? Lose the forests? Or face the risk?
If we had firebreaks and controlled burning-the fire would not have been able to run. There has to be a way where both are happy because this just should NOT have happened. The loss of forestation, animals, housing and human life is unforgivable.
I agree. The loss from this whole event was tragic. We can rebuild communities, but you cannot replace human life. Hopefully the enquiry will find useful solutions. Where there is fire, heatwaves, wind there is always a risk. Given the conditions it would have been to scale down the risk to something smaller than what occurred using whatever management strategy. Maybe controlled burning would have given people more time to evacuate? The evacuation strategy should be first under the microscope.
EVERY aspect of this needs to be put under the microscope. I have a friend who has been working on the scene with the bushfire victims and she still has smoke in her lungs a couple of days later and she said she has never seen anything like it and she has worked in war zones!
Thank You so much Jewelchic for adding this video. My heart and prayers are with everyone who has lost a loved one a home property or animal. Also all those still lokking for loved ones and friends. Its so devastating. I will be happy to contribute to help in some small way.
Everyone, do what you can to help get these guys back on their feet! I wish I could donate blood, but I've been helping out in other ways by collecting tons of bottled water and essential items, plus donating money.
This is a great thing you guys have done. I don't know of anyone here in Victoria who doesn't know of someone who has been affected. The countrywide response has been amazing. Let's keep it up, ongoing donations are important.
I wish I can pick myself up from this chair and catch the next flight to Melb - Id do it! I just want to help out there! I've donated money to different shopping centres, redcross and I dont know what else to give! There is a cause on Facebook going on, if anyone is wanting to join - feel free to support the Victorians,
My heart goes out to the Victorians people! You're all in my prayers and in my thought and hope that the bushfire reduces and everyone is close to their families and friends. xx
My parents donated $10,000. Hope everyone with enough money would donate, especially those well off. Love to see the stimulus package idea head towards the victims instead. I just LOVE the Australian way of helping out our fellow Aussies, this is a great country to live in.
Hands off the Stimulus Package Please! No offence but, It's easy to say such a thing if you come from a family that can "Afford" to donate $10K. You have to remember that there's people Battling all over this country! People that can't even afford the stamp and envelope let alone any money to put inside it for a donation to the Redcross! This is OZ and we WILL look after our fire victims, as you say it's "the A ustralian way". But that Stimulus Package is gonna help alot of other Aussies too!
Yes-you are right-which is why everyone should just do what they can-it might even be helping someone with their kids or buying some school books-it doesn't have to COST a lot to mean a lot xxxxxxx
I think if everyone does a little bit, and it doesnt have to be much it all adds up. Even going through your kids clothes to find things that they dont wear or have grown out of or toys they dont play with are practical ways of helping.
Thats a dumb thing to say...sorry....but whats the use of thousands of people turning up in a place that is EXTREMELY lacking in accomodation and food and such, just so they can "help" by standing around doing very little! Those that CAN help (physically) ARE helping, and those that can't, are donating items/time/money.
Favourited...well done!
Prayers to all involved, and a great big hug to ALL Australians who are helping in every way possible!!!
Thank you to everybody involved in producing and sharing this video. It's a sensitive and informative look at the devastation that has occurred and how everybody can do something to help.

we have given as much as we can and a toaster... i can understand why people want to defend their houses cos i hated the thought of loosing what i couldnt pack. but dont think its worth loosing lives over. we were going to leave as soon as there is a fire anywhere near our area. its a wonderful video well done.
We are safe in Melbourne-it's about 1 1/2 hours away, although there was a suburban one that gave some people a fright. We have been smelling the fires in Melbourne for the last few days though now and the light is kind of yellowy sometimes. Thanks for asking xxxxxx
All this week, in speaking with family, friends & colleagues, I haven't come across anyone who doesn't know someone who hasn't been effected by these bushfires. Having lived in Melbourne my entire life and experienced the devastation of bushfires these are without doubt this countries most horrific natural disaster. The Anzac Spirit lives on!
