  • Always have at least two idiots, equals dislikes..

  • I'm so glad I bought this vinyl last week for 99 cents. IT WAS 99 cents. And when I came back, I was like. WOAHHHHHHH. AWESOMEE. but now I need to buy my own turntable :C. I'll just go to my friend's house to keep listening them them :D

  • Periperigord is correct in both usage & in stating that the grammar issue refers to mood, not tense. However, so many people, even educated ones, have dropped the use of the subjunctive "were" & instead use the indicative "was", that it has become acceptable to use the indicative. Remember, language is constantly evolving.

Anyway, not the Monkee's best song.

  • sorry but why are you having a grammar nazi discussion about the spelling of the lyrics. it's a beautiful song so go be a grammar nazi somewhere else like the white house , they could use one !

  • great boyce and hart tune micky is lead vocals on this

  • great boyce and hart tune

  • Mickey Dolenz is lead vocal on this song?

  • Newsflash, Aug.8, 2011:

Remaining dates for 45th Anniv. tour cancelled.

Issued statement reads due to "..irreconciliable differences...We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support of The Monkees."

  • it reminds me of my last "serious" girlfriend...she said she was looking for a "LT" relationship.... what a lying BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

but... i still love this song, & the group. I used to wake up @ around 7AM in Ashland, OR to watch their show in the early-mid 70's.

BEST BAND DURING THAT TIME PERIOD... AT MY AGE!!!!!!!!!!

THANKYS GUYS.... & OF COURSE N. DIAMOND!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've still got the original vinyl of this album

  • i can't wait to buy this album and the debut album

  • A golden 60's LP classic from an album I listened to long ago when I was 8 years old. Good stuff.

  • I loved the Monkees as a young teen. A lot of top notch songwriters wrote for them; Tommy Boyce and Bobby hart, Carol King, Neil Diamond, etc.

  • first of all to all the negative remarks made in regards to the Monkees / why do people have to be so judgemental when it comes to musicians bands singers songwriters etc. / its usually the people that arent an artist or singer or musician or in band. first of all you think its so easy then you get up there and perform and write good songs that will be nujmner one hits. i am a singer songwriter and have been in many rock bands lead singer and lyricist over the years and it isnt easy/ to be con

  • compare them to the BEATLES...????? GET A GRIP> they were a great band somewhat...but the music was canned and not even them playing for the most part...i loved the show, it was true comedy. just sayin....and YES, i AM a Beatles fan from the word go...but i'm also on this page rght now.... Peace.

  • Mickey POURED his heart out on this one!!!

  • just saw the monkees live... wish i had been around in the '60's. if i say anything about the monkees to my friends they start screaming at me to "shut up about the freakin' monkees! their music sucks!" No appreciation of good music. It's all katy perry this and justin beiber that. blah

  • i wish you people would stop relating them to the beatles! they were made up to be competition for them, but that doesn't mean you have to keep telling me this! we get it!

  • first look at this album cover... now look Rubber Soul from the Beatles

  • @benvanlieshout i didn't notice that until you pointed it out,but you're right.More of the Monkees and Rubber Soul album covers do resemble each other.

  • This was the very first "rock and roll" album I ever bought. I played it until it literally wouldn't play any more. Too many skips and pops, but I kept it anyway. A few weeks ago I found a pristine copy on vinyl in a great used record store in Burbank CA, (Atomic Records) . Not only did it LOOK like new, it PLAYED like new! SWEEEET!

  • This could have been written about my last girlfriend

  • @selimaazouri

Sorry, have to contend with you on this one. It's the subjunctive case, like the song "If I WERE a rich Man", or the Bible verse "Though he WERE a Son" (Hebrews 5:8). This is not a case of singular vs. plural.

  • Great lyrics. It took me 40 years to appreciate how fricking great Mickey's voice is ... I was too obsessed with Davey back when.

  • "wishing she WERE here".

Good use of the subjunctive case.

  • @MrGb1965 It should be "wishing she WAS here," right?

  • @AvocadoTomato

One might think "was" is correct, but in this case, the subjunctive, it is "were". See my comments above. Thanks.

  • @AvocadoTomato Here, 'were' is the conditional usage. The conditional tense is used in cases of non probability as in the sentence sung by the Monkees: 'Wishing she were here'. She's not here and by using 'were' the Monkees are stating that they think it unlikely that she will arrive. The sentence could continue in this vein: if she were here we would....... Wish + were + would = unlikely to happen

  • @periperigord Not tense - mood. Tense shows time. Mood shows the state of the speaker's mind. If you are being factual you are speaking in the indicative mood. If you are not being factual you are speaking in the subjunctive mood. I am not, in fact, rich - therefore I say "if I WERE rich I'd live in a big house". Bill Gates is, in fact, rich - therefore he can say "I AM rich, I live in a big house".

  • @Gravano2: THank you for the input on your Monkees concert!! I go NEXT FRIDAY (6/26/11) to see these guys and am so psyched you cannot believe!!! The only song I don't know word for word is "Goin' Down" which Micky did 2 years ago when he was on tour...and I STILL could not understand what he was saying, even after all these years!! Will post you a heads-up on how the show pans out...I plan on being right up front!!!!

  • This is a good song!

  • The sound is better than the poppy album

  • All I know is that I found this album original print in the back of a goodwill. :)

  • ...Took all i had and fed me dirt...she was so bad,and yet i needed her...

...then one day i grew UP and left for good...etc...Ha Ha...true story...

  • awesome organ solo

  • I remember that I would race home after school to watch the Monkees on TV. It is amazing that this TV show produced such great and timeless music.

  • @jonskleinman I did too, in the late 1980's when nickelodeon was playing the re-runs. I really love you tube,I'm now showing the vids & music to my own kids....that's 3 generations. :)

  • Why am I missing her? I should be kissing her.

  • @susan94546: OMG! Susan, the boys are TOURING as we speak!!! Micky, Pete and Davy are doing shows without Mike and I am going to see them in Columbus OH next month!!!! Check the Monkees' website and see where they will be in your area...it will be sooooo worth the effort to go see them...I saw Micky 2 years ago when he was touring with his sister Coco and he was spectacular...imagine how all 3 of them will sound these days!

  • @spanishcastles56 Great show , fun and great video from the show all the way through . They did not do this tune though .Saw them last night

  • I Love them ! I wonder what they are up to now?

  • @susan94546 I show live live tonight. Awesome show!

  • your better off alone

  • I wore this LP out but the jacket still in tack!

  • So underated!!

  • my first cassette :-) yeeeea!

  • The Troggs jamming with a glee club and ? Mark and the Mysterions in Bakersfield.

  • Sort of has that Phil Spector treatment in the middle.......

  • One of the first pop groups that had some good stuff on their albums instead of just filler.

  • If she is so awful. then 'Forget That Girl'.

  • Great stuff. The lyrics ring so very true... unfortunately.

  • Have the CD in my collection,a great collection of pop/rock songs.

    R.Nix

  • Boy, I remember when my neighbor got this new album and brought it over to play it. That was a really exciting thing for a 5th grader who never had any money to buy records.

  • @marksmail2 I can relate... My brother, sister and I spent every cent we got on music. Took a while to save up money for Beatles, Beach Boys and Monkees albums. Hello to a fellow Monkees fan !! This song Rocks !!

  • Strange now to hear this mix - all instruments on the left and vocals on the right - great song though!!

  • Still a great song. The Monkees rock heavy here. lol

  • The last of inocence.

  • Hey!

  • This is a good line☺

She needs someone to walk on

So her feet don't touch the ground

  • This is a great song; I'm surprised it's not covered more. Love the production, I've just headphones on: instruments out of the left side, backing vocals out of the right and Mickey's voice in the center.

  • @gmartinz01 yeah i know! im using headphones too

  • @gmartinz01 I agree, also its important to say that this number was made about 45 years ago...the sound quality is really good

  • one person clearly hit the wrong thumb we forgive you

  • I can't believe this song is on here. It popped in my head for some reason so I searched it and the album cover is the same one I still have.

  • 1 person is DEAF!

  • Now this is the Shit...

  • I was just introduced. I found myself dancing a little. Such a cute song.

  • @loiraneih we danced something called "the soul" to this one.

  • cuty davy, sexy sarcastic mickey, and boy next door tork! Nesmith? wool cap? "ladies and Gentlemen THE 3 MONKEES! ...and melvin...i mean mike.

  • One of their BEST!!

  • Did you know Peter Torks father taught at UCONN.

  • A true masterpiece........

  • People can say what they want about the Monkees not playing their instruments and all the other criticisms, but so many of their songs are well-written and well-produced, and Mickey had one of the best voices of that era.

  • me again a am a bit Monkees fan xxxxxxx

  • what a song great

  • brings back mems the tv show - great band . got all their stuff now and their tv series . brings it all back ....

  • Like 330 Haven't heard this in a geological age!

  • Always my favorite Monkees song. Actually , one of my top ten favs of any song.

And I had the chance to say that to Mickey Dolenz once. He was kind of surprised...and very appreciative. Cool guy. Cool band.

  • Everyone knows my Micky is the sexiest

  • Sigh still love these guys...got all their records but no record player these days...thanks YouTube and to all who put such gems on here. I just wish I could download all my favourites onto my computer...that would be ace.

  • @sanham1954 If you have realplayer, then you can easily download youtube-videos and lots of other videos on the internet on to your computer. The free version of realplayer is good enough for doing things like these.

  • @sanham1954

You can also special order the CD from RhinoRecords which is what I did-much better sound quality than the mp3 file you hear here.

  • Looks a lot like the Rubber Soul album cover.

  • Still have the album but have no turntable. Thank you youtube!!

  • This is absolute fun.

    I miss those days immensely.

I pray for those days of yore.

  • siempre que quiero recordar la epoca mas hermosa de mi vida la secundaria y prepa escucho esta musica de los monkees.

  • remember in the old days , lol , yeh Im old , people just enjoyed the music period

  • Best. Monkees. Song. EVER.

  • With The Monkees, the hits never stopped coming. In that regard, they were like The Beatles and Micheal Jackson.

  • The man who clicked the dislike button probably has Parkinson

  • @AmethystApple Parkinsons isn't something to joke about you sack of shit. You must he asshole Rush Limbaugh

  • @Eagle027 Lol.

Believe me, I know it's nothing to joke about (My grandma..)

I wasn't joking about it, it's just that the video is so good, that the dislike was probably an accident.

    No need to curse.. o_o

  • @AmethystApple People are entitled to their opinion on any subject, what you may like may not be liked by others. Using the Parkinson example betrayed your immaturity. You made crass statement and got called on it, live with it. I didn't curse, I used profanity to explain my distaste for a little drip of sperm and fecal matter not worth what sits on the bottom of a stable floor.

  • @Eagle027 Don't take it too seriously. Just let it pass by... I didn't offend anyone, really.

It was joke, but not about people that have Parkinson, but about the fact someone disliked it.

Of course, anyone can dislike and like this video, but I just thought it sounds so good that there is no reason too.

I understand what you said, but honestly, there is nothing to fight about.

  • @AmethystApple My father died of Parkinson you ignorant piece of shit. You chose the word, asshole.

  • @Eagle027 I'm sorry for you lost.

My grandma has it also.. 23 years.

So i'm not an "ignorant piece of shit". =_=

I was just.. NVM, how many times do I have to explain the same thing over and over again, when you keep cursing me with pathetic words.

  • @AmethystApple Hey, you're the one who made fun of people with Parkinsons. Don't tell me you didn't, because that's exactly what you did, and I don't believe your bullshit about grandma. You're just looking to cover for your stupidity and ignorance. No amount of bullshit will convince me you're not an immature asshole.

  • @Eagle027 Don't believe me.

You are being ignorant, and a "Piece of shit", because she has it, and she is 80, and I never really got to speak to when she was ok, thus I never actually had a 2nd grandma, and now she is my only grandma, since last month.

So I don't need you to believe me. I won't say I don't believe your story about your father, because I have feelings and I am somehow human.

  • @AmethystApple Poor baby, and I'm suppose to feel sorry for you. If it really mattered to you, you wouldn't have used the disease to mock somebody else. You're pathetic. A real sensitive human wouldn't have used the term, so cut the shit. I don't really care if you believe me or not, you've been exposed for the asshole you are, you're just sorry I called you on it.

  • @Eagle027 You are a fucking jerk.

I don't want to speak to you anymore.

  • @AmethystApple Must people who are exposed as assholes, run and hide when I beat them. If you really cared about people suffering from Parkinson's you would either had the moral fortitude to not use the word, or once caught in your mistake, you wouldn't have tried to rationalize your lapse in good judgement. Now go run along.

  • "The Monkees" was on TV when I was in 4th & 5th grade. All of their songs bring back memories of the carefree days of my youth. This is one of my rave faves!

  • Yes, the songs were practically all written by contract songwriters, the musicians were probably L.A.'s renowned "Wrecking Crew" studio musicians. But still, song for song, a really, really good album.

  • crazy! D:

    I'm in love ^^

  • the best

  • my dad used to watch this when he was high school.. well he found it on tv one day and got me into it.. and now i love it

  • I love the monkees lol

  • The guy in the song is a dumbass. I would've dropped that bitch right off the start!

  • The Monkees was one of the lucky rock bands that featured two good lead singers. And two of the the greatest songwriters wrote their music--Boyce and Hart.

  • @lancetop

Interesting point but based on your point we understand why The Beatles were the greatest-2 great singers who just happened to be the best songwriters too and a third singer/songwriter who became a force himself at the midpoint of their career and hell even the drummer sang a few songs that were fed to him giving us a 4th lead singer,he even gave us 2 of his own comps. too!

Long live JOHN PAUL GEORGE and RINGO THE INCREDIBLE BEATLES with over 1.3 BILLION albums sold.

  • Classic ! Loved the Monkees..especially this one.. thanks for posting :-)

  • the monkees were the biggest part of my life .I love them all and that will never change.

  • Well put James T Kirk Cobain.

Hey, these guys still sang, just like Ma-hosequeen (madonna) If she can get in, then the Monkees too, simply because they actually did something for music by bringing a bit of rock n roll to kids like me way back in the day. It was the first actual music television. If they arent allowed in, then there shouldnt be ANY artist who sampled another artists music and made a career of it, inducted into the hall of fame. The Monkees gave us "THE VIDEO".

  • Great Song

  • I have this album from when I was 12. I never seem to loose it, as I do my keys and drives licence ect.

  • The Rock and Roll hall of fame wont induct these guys because they said they werent a real band. But they had no problem inducting the Queen of Karaoke Madonna do they? It seems money talks. A bitch who merely sings on other peoples songs and recordings, and lip synchs on stage. You want to know how fucked up the R&R hall of fame is? The Stray Cats are still not in it even though they started their careers the same time as the Queen of Karaoke, AND actually played ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!

  • @JamesTKirkCobain Hey I was reading about the sex pistols the other day for some reason and when they were invited to attend their induction into the r&r hall of fame, they collectivly said " where not going, the R&R hall of fame is a piss stain"

    Foken gleat!!

  • @buddha860 they don't belong there anyhow.....what song can you tell me about from them?.......yeah they were Punk Rockers...big Trucken Deal I thought that those were the WORST times for Rock & roll......Let's all Piss on them see what they think.

  • @SHONA825 just having a go at the r&r hall of fame didn't really mean to put the sex pistols on a pedistal.

  • @SHONA825 Punk rock sucked. Sucks. It will suck. It is gay. Rebelling in name brand clothes is gay. Fashion fags.."oh..no..we don't care what people think of us".....hahahahahaha....Sid Vicious was a glamor boy fag.

  • @jasonarthurroberts no it's not. rebelling in brand name clothes is cool. f--k the capitalist pigs and their $100 jeans

  • @jasonarthurroberts and a herion addict...but i love him, and the Monkees...oh eclectic taste......

  • guess who wrote this.....yup.....me and edgar cayce.......i love time travel

  • I must have been 11 or 12 years old when I first heard this song. I wouldn't have a girlfriend for another 7 or 8 years later. Yes, I was one of those socially awkward kids that preferred algebra to snogging. The latter just didn't happen to be in the curriculum. Otherwise, I would have been quite the honor student. Anyway, I think I owned every Monkee album. I got older. I moved onto harder rock and discovered snogging. Lucky me. lol

  • Excellent!

  • mickey said it best when he said="they called it bubble gum-but it was some of the best damn bubble gum their was"

  • appreciate this talent we had

  • She.A Monkees song that sums up what every man or teenager has felt after getting blind-sided by that special girl.

  • Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow from same album. Written by Neil Diamond, it is my favorite song by the Monkees

  • this was way before the doors.

  • this is a good album. i listened to it right along with everything else back then. people dont realize that the Monkees songs were written by some of the best contract songwriters in the biz back then.

  • This is their BEST !!

  • great song!! so lovely sound

  • The Monkees finest moment! Awesome in every way, but sadly I don't play it enough for some reason!

  • I played this album out!

  • Love those Penney's clothes on the record cover!!

  • @ChristyFisty

Haha! And here I thought there were from Ward's.

  • @ChristyFisty Hey! those Clothes were REALLY COOL back then! LOL

  • Its missing one side of the music!!! I know stereo was a new concept then but cutting out Micky Dolenze and Pete Tork is just wrong

  • one of my fav Monkees tracks thanks for the post been looking for this for a while :)

  • PLEASE YOUTUBE THE DICKIES SHE you will laugh

  • This is Rock/Pop Recording Artist Robert Nix-I special ordered this CD filled with great Rock/Pop Songs such as 'She','When Love Comes Knocking At Your Door' and Mike Nesmith's 'Mary Mary'.

No this is not a paid endorsement!

  • i like monkees their nice people and good songs on the radio

  • Mickey Dolenz once describe their music as "brain candy." More please! :)

  • before today, i had never heard this version of She... had only heard the cover by The Dickies... this is good times.

  • sunshine pop always sounds nice and cheery

  • THIS is the one that should be covered by other artists...Excellent lyrics and music... It would never be good as the Monkees...but I don't understand why there aren't lots of covers of this song... It's soooooo awesome!!

  • i like the monkees

  • This song makes me cry!

  • I always loved Mickey Dolenz' voice, such a sweetness and versatile range. I lived and loved to these songs in my pre-teen years. I came to expect guys to feel this way for me and wanted that all my life, never really had it, at least not that any of them would admit to me, lol.

  • love the keyboard. almost dracula sounding.

  • I so love this album!!!!

  • This is Pop/Rock Recording Artist R. Nix,I special ordered this album-filled with great Pop/Rock songs like this one-'She';lead vocal by M. Dolenz

  • Micky is so hot! Such a sexy voice!

  • None of the "Monkees" played instruments on this album -- vocals only.

  • @jeep5253 Not true,Peter played guitar on Mary,Mary!

  • @jeep5253 Nez always played on his songs, as well as Peter

  • Thanks for posting this absolute classic!

  • one of my favorite songs of theres

  • The Monkees cranked out remarkably good pop tunes. Of course they were written by greats and played by studio muscians.

  • i love this song xD

  • What type of guitar is that in the lead?
