I think 2009 is Britains last year in having big world boxing fights in America. I cant see Ricky or joe making it 2010 and the next crop of fighters are a long way off world level. Although, i might be proved from by Carl Froch, i can see Haye getting knocked out, but i think 2009 is our year for Hatton and Calzaghe to end on a high from boxing.
Maybe in a few years time we will be back with Kell Brook, James De Gale, Frankie Gavin and possible Amir Khan, hopefully.

Here's mine. Without a doubt fighter of the year is Pacman. Being in a possible fight of the year and winning in 3 diff weight classes gets him that honour. Fight of the year is a tough one...loads of possibilities. Vasquez Marquez 3 gets my vote though but there should be several honourable mentions! Pacman/Marquez, Cunningham/Adamek, Cotto/Margo, Froch/ Pascal.
Upset of the year has alot of poss again. You have Pav/Bhop as the probable winner bc everyone but GYGB predicted a Pav demolition. We all got it right but the bookies and "experts" thought they knew better. You have Campbell/Diaz at the start of the year. Pac/ODLH, Darchiniyan/Mijares, Prescott/Khan.

In 2008 Margaritto beat IBF welterweight champ Kermit Cintron and WBA welterweight champ Miguel Cotto and to me that holds more weigh than barely beating an Old Hopkins and a faded Jones. Hopkins is higher cause to me he beat father time once again by destroying Pavlik and gave Calzaghe a run for his money. There's not an inch of doubt in my mind that Hopkins would reverse roles and make Jones look awful if they were to fight. But that's just my opinion.

His 140lb div. is a weak Div. & guys have brought up some points that basically say the same thing w/in these three arguments.
TO the 1st. Argument of fluff thruought his Career. I agree w/ this sentiment to the degree that the talent pool of fighters he's faced were mainly C. level fighter. He built much of his workmanlike persona & following in England based on that factor. That was Warren's marketig ploy. that said. we have had numerous debates about HOF fighters on this forum who hab less than stellar comp dominating their recod sheets. From Roy to Joe. To nard & all else in between.that argument scores zero points.
If a guy isn't from the era where they fought 15 rders or 100 rd fights & it was impossible to duck guys the the fluff argument stinks. There are only a few boxers 2day who can point to there rezzy & say I fought everyone. & there fluff on there shit too. As long as a man is willing to fight all legit contenders & title holders in their clss/div. then they've done their job. Some people want to knock Larry HOlmes for who he fought & saying his opps were weak when he dominated. & He's a cert HOF.

I think 2009 is Britains last year in having big world boxing fights in America. I cant see Ricky or joe making it 2010 and the next crop of fighters are a long way off world level. Although, i might be proved from by Carl Froch, i can see Haye getting knocked out, but i think 2009 is our year for Hatton and Calzaghe to end on a high from boxing.
Maybe in a few years time we will be back with Kell Brook, James De Gale, Frankie Gavin and possible Amir Khan, hopefully.

Here's mine. Without a doubt fighter of the year is Pacman. Being in a possible fight of the year and winning in 3 diff weight classes gets him that honour. Fight of the year is a tough one...loads of possibilities. Vasquez Marquez 3 gets my vote though but there should be several honourable mentions! Pacman/Marquez, Cunningham/Adamek, Cotto/Margo, Froch/ Pascal.

We all got it right but the bookies and "experts" thought they knew better. You have Campbell/Diaz at the start of the year. Pac/ODLH, Darchiniyan/Mijares, Prescott/Khan.

In 2008 Margaritto beat IBF welterweight champ Kermit Cintron and WBA welterweight champ Miguel Cotto and to me that holds more weigh than barely beating an Old Hopkins and a faded Jones. Hopkins is higher cause to me he beat father time once again by destroying Pavlik and gave Calzaghe a run for his money. There's not an inch of doubt in my mind that Hopkins would reverse roles and make Jones look awful if they were to fight. But that's just my opinion.

As for argument 2..lol...True, there arent many Complete fighters in the world BUT p4p Ricky falls serverly short of alot of these dudes levels: NO Defense. Limited offense. General ship C to B at best. Always pushes but can be befuddled by lateral movement. Stamina is good...lately. Speed..lol...C..I can quantify handspeed and his is not the best by far. Yes he beat tony. & did come back strong in Quintana loss. Unfortunately that loss set him back. He should have fought tony in the rematch right after like they asked. He chose to fight Quintana. All that loss showed us is that He has the cpacity to have let downs from fight to fight. He can't get dominated in a1st title defense by a smaller & lesser opp. Now he's got to put on a string of victories to get some buzz. Gamboa has some power just watched one of his fights and quick hands too. Chad is more skillful fighters, i think hes got the potential to be the great, but those 3 win are the best too make a case for him. Tarver looked like an old boxing bag, glen was controvtial and Adamek is shit. David Haye would have killed him and i hate David Haye.

like i have said b4 nard has 0 to prove win or lose...my gut tells me he will lose badly but what you say is also true...thing about their styles is it will either be competitive or a complete domination of one fighter...i see nard losin by wide ud..if he win i will gladly tip my hat of to a fighter who in my books is the definition of deligence commitment and heart.

So a couple of our Compadres Vallae, RK, JL, & BHOP take offense to the fact that RH is even mentioned in the top 10 fighters in the world.
The main Arguments against him are that. 1. He's fought weak competition thruout his career. 2. He has poor skills & doesn't look good when he performs vs good & avg comp. 3. His 140lb div. is a weak Div. & guys have brought up some points that basically say the same thing w/in these three arguments.

TO the 1st. Argument of fluff thruought his Career. I agree w/ this sentiment to the degree that the talent pool of fighters he's faced were mainly C. level fighter. He built much of his workmanlike persona & following in England based on that factor. That was Warren's marketig ploy. that said. we have had numerous debates about HOF fighters on this forum who hab less than stellar comp dominating their recod sheets. From Roy to Joe. To nard & all else in between.that argument scores zero points.

If a guy isn't from the era where they fought 15 rders or 100 rd fights & it was impossible to duck guys the the fluff argument stinks. There are only a few boxers 2day who can point to there rezzy & say I fought everyone. & there fluff on there shit too. As long as a man is willing to fight all legit contenders & title holders in their clss/div. then they've done their job. Some people want to knock Larry HOlmes for who he fought & saying his opps were weak when he dominated. & He's a cert HOF.
