  • i you want to learn to play this watch carefully, but enjoy!!

  • Amazing....smiply amazing! I also love how my favorite band, Thousand Foot Krutch is related to this vid!

  • chuck norris knows the lyrics to this song.

  • If the get one dollar for every note he would be a tripple milionair every time he plays a concert

  • Steve Vai is okay. All his shit sounds the same, Paul Gilbert is only good when he plays other people's shit. LOL. SHREDDING MY ASS. Eric Johnson is good. No disrespect... and John Petrucci has like... 3 good songs. Don't put them in the same Category as an improvising king like Satriani. Shit heads like you kill the name of Legends like this...

  • @deepravine

Well, thats just, like, your opinion, man,

  • i love his tone. i just bought the vox satchurator and its pretty damn good :)

  • i love his guitar and hate the head-stock

  • come on guys leave 19925suisniZR alone hes obviously retarded

  • you gotta love the lyrics :D

  • @guitargeek11 i know right. That guitar sings better than Justin Bieber :D

  • @Zizzister a cat getting burned alive sounds better than Justin fuckin Beiber! LOL..but really ,, why are we bringing THAT kid into a thread like this ?? i mean really!! who fuckin cares about him anyway? were mostly rock fans and shredders ourselves so Beiber doesnt belong in this thread lol

  • Minute long ending, just because.

  • sugoi

  • Gee, Joe, tear it up.

  • I saw a three fans of Justin Bieber.

  • Unbelievable guitarist.....note perfect with style and rhythm.....amazing dexterity and taste Joe......great stuff

  • @asdfcrow okay then

  • face=melted.

  • How can anyone hate that ??

  • on his js-100 or js-1200?

  • @debakkertje12 joe doesn't play a js-100,

  • Amazing. Never seen him make a mistake. Just friekin amazing.

  • joe satriani taught kirkhammet how to play guitar

  • @TheHanafymm as well as steve vai. All hail the mighty satch!!!!

  • @TheHanafymm Then kirk was a very bad student, I dont the pupil get better than the master.... not even close on skill.

  • @PowerRushFlame kirk isnt bad at all, i will agree that joe surpasses him in all possible circumstances tho. fuckin amazing

  • @TheHanafymm he didnt do a very good job.

  • i tought him

  • He just got 100% full combo...

  • @MrFlubb63 he almost always does. thats the most amazing part about joe is how he's so damn accurate even at insane speeds.

  • Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert .. etc.

Are the dudes that keep real electric guitar playin alive

  • @Woodwind007

You are a true fan of guitar instrumental genius, my friend.

  • @Woodwind007 Joe Satriani taught fucking Steve Vai. He's the yoda to Steve Vai's Luke.

  • saw him live in december! i loved every second of it and regretted not taking that poster off the bathroom wall!

  • 1:50 / 2:30 : This part is AWESOME !

I love that ! Joe is so GOOD !

This song is AMAZING and SO VERY HARD in GH 4 : World Tour !

  • who were the other 2 guys at this G3??

  • @kjn5991 Vai and Petrucci I believe.

  • @diabeticmonkey I'm pretty sure it's Vai and Malmsteem, the rest of it's been uploaded and you can see them jamming together.

  • @phugbz That's it. Maybe Petrucci was the next year.

  • he over did the outro

  • Joe is so good...he's playing notes WE CAN'T EVEN HEAR!!! o.o

  • i like blues and GOOD OL' ROCK 'N' ROLL as opposed to shredding like this, but satriani and evh are the only shredders i respect and listen to because they shred but it is still music as opposed to a lot of modern day shredders who just go up down scales as fast as they can and claim to be great musicians. speed and technique doesn't necessarily mean good music.

  • Its amazing how the Monkeys clapp the Hands and full of enthusiastic if he plays JUST ONE MINOR SCALE!!! Hahahahaaa!!! :-))

  • He looks like a Kondom with Sunglass!

  • @MEGAS0UND Actually if you look close he looks like Valdamort (speeling?) from Harry Potter.

  • @acdc15acdc and at night he puts his beanie on so his brain consumes the power of the sun and produce mad tapping and arpeggio licks.

  • Isn't funny how all these so called "Big Shots" use the same techniques that King Edward Van Halen created 30 years ago?

  • @TheLar1969 I am not disgree-ing that eddie played things of this nature 30 years ago, but he admits he stole most his stuff from guys in the 60s, not to mention what makes joe so great is that he took every piece of music he every heard and liked growing up and has made himself just a culmination of awsome guitar work. Also who are you calling big shots, joe really doesn't have a ton of recognition in comparison to the so called "king" evh

  • @TheLar1969 Isn't it funny how there are only a limited amount of techniques you can learn on guitar, and that people have already figured out all of the useful ones?

  • I LOVE IT

  • damn with this guitar playing he could blow pu the sun

  • albern.....

  • last name ever, first name greatest

  • S.A.T.C.H. = Say Amazing Teacher, Chuck Norris.

  • OH my ...JOE!!!

  • Satch..... The final boss of guitar gods.

    Powerlevel: >1,000,000

  • 3 people ran to shit their pants due to the awesomeness and accidentally clicked dislike

  • 1:20 O___O

  • and Joe was running on half-power due to his beanie dome-blocker. MAD SKILLS!

  • guitar in this is unbelievable

  • satriani composed this music after he smoked big joint

  • @alaanees i want to smoke some of that doobie

  • @Rickandlisa100 u couldnt handle it lil niglett

  • What a beast

  • as always, amazing!

  • the off spring of really god weed and blues

  • well at least he's better dressed than he was in the past lol

  • Mark of a truly amazing guitarist, the ability to invent ridiculous noise with your instrument. Awesome stuff.

  • Joe isn't the flashiest player out there, but his tone and control over what he's doing are unbeatable. That's a real craftsman at work.

  • he looks so natural playing this crazy shit...i dont understand how its possible

  • just three litlle words: GOD OF GUITAR!!

  • Hahahahah he's so good that I want to think that he's using some sort of backing track while he acts like he's playing that on stage, but hes just that good

  • Dragonforce would be spinning in their graves right now, but unfortunately they aren't dead yet.

Amazing, amazing, AMAZING guitarist. A greatest hits album of Satch was one of the first albums I ever bought. My first guitar was an Ibanez. I wish that I had even 1/10000th of his skill.

  • @Vanguard448 dragonforce is better. Joe just knows how to make the music flow Brilliantly. Dragonforce is just epic...... says a dragonforce fan.

joe is good to just not my kind of music

  • @19925suisniZR except that all their songs sound the same, same scale, same bpm, and the fact that they can't play at all live.

  • @asdfcrow umm have you heard them live recently? and not those shitty cell phone vids people put up on here, I mean real live dragonforce.... i doubt it.

Listen to there live cd and every song is VERY well done except for through the fire and flames.

Look ur shit up before you put a stupid ass comment

  • @asdfcrow they also have serveral slow songs like Starfire, Above a Winter Moonlight, and Valley of the Damned. So not every song is the same

  • @19925suisniZR HAHAHA Dragonforce is not better your kidding right I don't hear any feeling in their music and they can't play live for shit

And don't bullshit me that there better playing live now because I'm sure half the crowd is stupid guitar hero kids who wanna hear through the fire and flames

  • @aqstickgitarr if you look back at my previous comments i already had this discussion. no further need for input

  • @19925suisniZR oh.. haha ok

  • joe doesnt look 53 but he is 53 yrs old

  • @TheFreeMovement No way seriously? I would have never guessed, and he is better than ever too; most players' skill begins to deteriorate a that age.

  • @TheFreeMovement are you sure he is 53???

  • eat that dragonforce...

  • he's wearing an ac/dc shirt? hes getting better and better :D

  • @LiketheDeath616

Nope .-. he don't wear it

  • if he didn't have a hat on. his amazingness would have killed the crowd.

  • Better than Paul Gilbert's version ^^ The original rules !!!

  • The most terrifying guitarist on the planet.

  • is there a dowload llink?

  • I was there, and all three kicked fucking asssssss!

  • I think the 27000 views is just me trying to learn the first few bars but watching the whole thing over and over.

  • whène this song relly begenn i love it

  • awesome execept tapping section is really fast

  • i have that concert satch and vai make fantastic performance, really awesome

  • 1:05-1:10 omg making your guitar scream like that holy shit nice

  • yes, satriani make a orgasm with his guitar

  • He's alot alike Ali.G in this performance

  • amazing live, perfect

  • omfg 1:50 that scream wow holy shit

  • Amazing.

  • My opinion is that satch the best guitarist ever to live. Anyone think hes the best?

  • it's like having sex on guitar!!

  • i see this comment with like 5 thumbs up on 1 of 10 good guitar videos.

  • ho yes

  • His shiny dome absorbs the power of the sun to produce mad guitar licks.

  • @acdc15acdc Except when he wrote this song he had hair. A lot of it.

  • @acdc15acdc This is true i read it in the bible

  • @acdc15acdc

he has a hat on though

  • @fr33atesickz the hat just keeps his overflowing power in!

  • From a guitarist point of view, yngwie is technically the best. But i dont enjoy his music. I just sit there, open mouthed, for a song or two and then i go listen to something more appealing. What makes a guitarist great is not his or her technical ability, its a feel for music. Satriani and Vai have far more of that then Yngwie. Just my opinion

  • Yngwie is not the best technical guitarist. He's fast as hell that's true, but speed is not a technical thing... Vai makes much more technical stuff and MAB as well... And MAB is even faster than yngwie. But I agree that yngwie's music is hardly enjoyable. He's great I admit it, and he should go on, but for example I prefer Jani Liimatainen's [ex-sonata] music than yngwie's. And Satch with his hat will always be the master :-D

  • Steve ouimette is cool :)

  • Yngwie is a pile of shit. SATCH ROCKS!!!!!!!!

  • Yngwie is good but not the best from ANY point of view. Most of what he does are archepeggios and scales which any expert level guitarist can do. Satch is the best period, and has taught some of the best. Think of it this way; I can garuntee that Satch can play all of Yngwie's songs near flawless, but I couldn't say the same for Yngwie..

  • the truth is every top level guitarist can play all of each others work pretty much note for note.

but im talking top top top level guitar like only 5 can exist simultaniously.

we under estimate just how talented these guitarists are.

im more than certain ynwie could play ever song the satch has ever written to near perfection and vice versa

  • erm steve vai has much better technique than Yngwie and is also more precious and just as fast if he wants to. Yngwie is still some kind of god for me

  • I epicly agree with you

  • mmm idk i think joe is a very good guitarist, my personal favorite is slash, second be eddie, now third is joe... hes very good...

  • can't forget about Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert :)

  • well ur right cant forget paul, umm bout yngwie well idk who is he =| well i will sure look at a vid of him and well then tell u my opinion...

  • 3 words...Arpeggios From Hell...It is rather sterile like a modal etude, but you can't deny the skill it takes to play. The position shifting itself puts him up there with Satch and in my mind past him. College music majors that are guitarists all try to play his arrangements of Bach and Gabrielli fugues.

  • College students that want to be something in music dont play Malmsteens arrangements. They play jazz. Cuz jazz teacher you everything. The flashy things (tapping, whammy) comes when you know all the theory that jazz teaches you. THATS THE WAY TO GO.

  • WRONG AGAIN. College students with merit play Malmsteens Paganini Caprice arrangements and Gabrieli arrangements...NOT JAZZ. Pot heads in beanies with turtle necks go to bars to play jazz...reputable musicians play western art arrangements. There is MUCH more to Malmsteen's arrangements than flashy techniques. Jazz does not teach you theroy either..Jazz is pretty much breaking traditional rules of theroy with 9th and 11th chords..especially fusion.Western art music uses traditional theroy.

  • HAHA! Are you kidding me? JAzz doesnt teach you theory? there is no genre based more on theory than jazz. Malmsteens arrangemts are techniqually challenging. Thats all. Explain the difficult theory of his arrangments. Jazz is the most advanced genre there is.

  • I'm smart enough to know jazz doesn't teach you theroy. Western art is based on theroy. Jazz is just breaking rules..NOT THEROY. Malmsteens arrangements are transcriptions of real music repertoire that has lasted literally hundreds of years. Jazz is just improv...no real difficulty in making stuff up. Play a Paganini Caprice and then play In The Mood...see which is harder...difficulty aside, western art music has MUCH more merit across the globe than jazz which is relatively new comparitavely

  • What does the merit have anything to do with complexity? And you say Jazz is just breaking rules... To break rules you need to know all of them, right? Thats right. And second, there are no rules in music. Maybe in Harmonic minor/melodic minor-Malmsteens music.

  • What does complexity have to do with merit? Wrong...you don't need to know rules to break them...anyone can improv jazz with little or no training...If you think there are no rules in music, you have obviously never heard of Johann Sebastian Bach...just shows how little music knowledge you have. You just state opinion, I state technical musical fact. I have a BM, Ed. degree in music..I know. Major and minor are just 2 of the 7 modes...if you knew about music, you would understand.

  • Ïf you knew about music you wouldn't claim to know a lot about music and then claim that jazz is just improv and that improvisation is really easy. It's crazy how little you know.

  • You are just showing your ignorance now. I know plenty...I teach music theroy...Middle school kids can improv...not so much with arpeggios from hell or Gabrielli Suites...don't argue on a subject you know nothing about.

  • do you know how much theory you must know to be able to improvise like in jazz, or like Satch ? You have to know like every freaking scale and mode and everything.

  • WRONG again....you only need to know blues and pentatonic scales...rudimentary at best. They are the first scales you learn in beginning guitar classes...nice try at a guess though.

  • try to play cool9 by satch with pentatonic scale ir bues scale, lol

  • lol...Joe ain't jazz....the jazz Satch is Louis Armstrong....lol look it up. Calling Joe S. jazz is like calling Jimi Hendrix heavy metal...lol

  • ehh, joe satriani does play a lot of jazzy songs, lol

  • blues based, for sure...like the g3 version of voodoo chile...but I don't know if I would stretch it to jazz... :)

  • I gave you one song, f. ex Cool9

  • that'll work but it will not sound that great

  • @vmi3301

Try dorian, locrian, phyrigian, aeolian, etc.

Big band jazz may not be that technically complex, but after that, with players like ellington and such, it got a lot more complex.

  • 1:26

    Such a gorgeous sound.

  • paul gilberts version is better

  • Impossible to take something and improve on it is good but creating something like this takes a HELL of a lot more skill

  • I would have to disagree with this one...Satch plays this song better, although I would much rather listen to Paul play than Joe...especially one of his Mr. Big solos!

  • joe is a boogie man!!!!

    love joe!!!

  • Explain the Eagles, xxRockst4r.

  • He's never heard of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, or Lynyrd Skynyrd either....

  • Found the Tabs!!!

  • wapisimaaa!!!

  • I want Tabs for that solo, SO BAD....

  • then ATTEMPT to find em cos they're out there lol

  • Herman Li's Stuff sound digitalized anyway this guy Owns!

  • this man blows Herman's guitar skills out the damn water. I'm sorry but this is some superb note ownage here lol :D

  • Comment removed

  • theres a big difference between dragonforce and Satch. i dont get why people compare his skills to herman li. so yeah, i agree with you

  • Did u know that Joe is Hermans idol and he palyed on same stage with him on namn 2008... But personally i like moe about Herman

  • yea im not a huge satch fan i like what he does and i like his tone but hes way better then herman li. satch actually like plays with emotion for the most part. speed is cool but not really expressive and it seems like all herman is about is speed most of the time

  • touché, but why not throw in the drumber of slip knot instead? He's crazy. I don't really like the band, but the drumber deserves some props.

  • Joey Jordison says: "I have a double bass and my feet aren't very fat so that makes me good"

  • drumber? It's Joey Jordison by the way but Neil Peart is my personal favourite drummer

  • I totally agree with you on all your points...even the not so keen on Slipknot part... My drummer...going outside the metal realm would be Dennis Chambers, but you have to give a nod to Joey, Lars, Carmine Appice, (sp), Greg Bissonette, and the guy that played for Quiet Riot and W.A.S.P....sorry forgot his name, but he has SKILLZ!

  • Which drumber is it who does the show off thing where he is lifted upside down? I think Montly Crew's did something, was it his trap rotated or something?

  • that would be Tommy Lee from Motley Crue in the Wildside video.

  • The best band ever would have eddy, nugent, and satch on guitars, ray charls on keyboard, Mich Michle on drums, and the bass player of Zeplen. With guest stars of Jimmy hendricks, Kerk Hamit, and Eric Claptin. I don't really think they need a singer. (Exscuse my spelling)

  • no a good band would be EVH and satch on guitar, neil pert on drums and geddy lee on bass and robert plant on vocals.

  • you can't have two lead guitars, lol

  • You can, for harmonising =D

  • @pinkcheesey101 yeah sure but yngwie and Satch ? No.... yngwie can stay to his crappy music and let satch do the real deal

  • cant you go fuck youre self son of a bich??? yngve är svensk din lilla bög jävel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jikarpert who cares if he's a stupid swedish guy he still plays crappy music and he's just a mindless shredder who can't even compare to Satch so don't even bring him up more on this video

  • quite the opposite...Satch blows.

  • But, why would one harmonize over Satch?

  • I Would say Cliff Burton (Metallica) or John Myung (Dream Theater)

  • YAY, this one is the best live performance of satch boogie I've seen!

  • Malmesteen and Satriani?

I respect Satriani alot because he can combine your techinical, metal style guitar-playing and still make it into an abseloutely awesome melody.

    Whereas Malmsteen's songs bore me.

  • You know, talking about Malmsteen, I am sure you would agree here.

You know what I want to see? I want to see a new band come out in 2010. This band should so consist of the following people: Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani rocking out at Guitar, Neil Peart (From Rush) as drummer and Vadim Pruzhanov (From Dragonforce) as Keyboard. Anyone else agree? The band should be called like, "Godheads of Rock", or "Rock Monsters" (Lol)

    Yes band much?

  • u see i disagree entirely noone who ever played with or enjoyed listening to dragonforce has the right to stand on a stage with satriani nevermind play with him

  • Well hey it was just an idea, I just wanted to see people's opinions about it.

  • have to say but i think he should be in the top 10 of the best Guitarists in the world. HAS TO BE! :D
