  • fuck you usa i live isra-fuckin-ral and the us haz laid wast to my town for fucking copper and zink and zink is one of the most toxix metles on fuckin earth!!!!

  • I love people who right paragraphs thinking that someone will actually read it.

  • No wonder the world is going to shit. We are presented a video simply describing a long complicated process which we are all apart of and you argue about who makes the best point. In the end fact is fact and your ideas and beliefs will be taken with you to your grave.

  • Too bad they don't have "flamer" retardant for provocative videos. Be nice to see someone bouncing into action because "someone is wrong on the internet" without browbeating us with words like "hypocrisy" and "hysteria." I may feel the same way about nuclear weapons and the rationales behind them, but I don't seek out wing-nut sites in order to spew contempt and derision. If you can't handle difference of opinion with politeness, stay the fuck away.

  • and yet we live longer than ever, better than ever.

  • @growl2222 Your obviously not speaking on behalf of the two billion people in the world who living on under $1 a day

  • haha she said retard

  • As I see it, we can either live in a world where everyone's life sucks equally, or we have a small amount of people that builds their luck on the misfortune of others.

To be honest, neither variant sounds especially attractive.

  • She lives in a house she did not build, drives a car she can not fix, eats food she did not grow, at a job she does not completely understand and flushes her solid waste into a flush toilet, then drinking water. In other words she does not walk the walk. Like all liberal seventh grade thinkers she only talks the talk. I agree with all she says. Yet no one lives like Scott Nearing because they want "stuff". I have a place off the grid and it's a lot of work.

  • show this to china not us.

  • Wow, I think an OCD person just watched this and then went out and killed himself.

  • LOL RETARDANTS

  • This has nothing to do with communism or capitalism. It casts light on issues we should pay more attention to - namely, the amount of chemicals that we introduce into our environment. Doesn't it sicken you that we put a neuro toxin into pillows because some stupid government idiocrat decided that anything to do with sleep had to be flame retardant? Really? Were that many people dying from burning pillows that we need to saturate the population with neuro toxin. VOTE SMALL GOVERNMENT!

  • @p1q0

no body dies from toxic pillows either, AND WE ARE USING THEM.

  • Interesting that you say that, after you go from arguing that this is an anti-computer message, to that its shunning modern technology, then to capitalism.

If you won't provide the least bit of backing information to your logic, then I don't think you really know what you're talking about, just that you want to 'troll' this video and rally other mis-informed peoples to your cause.

  • @RandomConcepts I'm well acquainted with the Peak Oil hypothesis. Are you aware that there exists no consensus among people who have studied the topic as to whether or not (and when) global Peak Oil is reached? Sure, there are lots of people on both sides of this highly politicized issue claiming certainty, but even the insiders don't know for sure... much less this group of seemingly well-meaning anti-capitalists.

  • well if people stop consuming, they will stop producing - supply demand.

  • So much for critical thinking.

    Nice communist propaganda piece.

  • The problem with this video is that the message is absolutely antiquated. We've been hearing from doomsday anti-industrialists since I was a child (and from what I hear, even longer than that), and we're all still thriving, for the most part. I agree with some of the more obvious points made in this video, but I would like to see an impartial analysis of a lot of the facts that she speeds through.

  • Has anybody's head actually caught on fire from BFR in the middle of their sleep? You know, if America's such a horrible place to be, she could easily enact her freedom of choice and move to countries that adhere to her favored regulations, like Cuba, North Korea, Iran and Venezuela.

  • @cpobeck You missed the point completely. BFR's are supposed to prevent pillows from catching fire. Her point was that since so few people actually catch fire this way, perhaps pillow manufacturers shouldnt be dousing their fabric in BFRs. She's basically making the same point you are, but unfortunately you are programmed to think that she hates America because she criticizes it, which happens to be a right Americans have.

  • I wonder what these people would have us do instead...

I mean, toxins all over the place yet people have increased their average lifespan from like 40 years (before the industrial revolution) to nearly 80 years (nowadays)... Things are so bad, right? BUT we live longer and better lives than ever before? My head hurts... ;)

  • Is the air full of crap? Duh. We've known that for a long time. We're all scientists in that way. We've seen how dust collects on things - where did that dust come from? Let's pretend we're not sucking that in. But these people aren't just pointing out the obvious, they're saying if you question their solutions, you don't understand the seriousness of the situation. How does a kid that watches this know more than their grandparents, who worked and sacrificed and know what all that means?

  • I bet this woman is an absolute peach to spend a day with.

I guess the irony of complaining about a toxic chemical inside of computers on a video distributed over the internet was a little over her head.

  • If everyone generally uses a computer more than anything else... how else could she get her point across? If she wrote an article how many people would see it? This is a good way to show people. (and she isnt saying computers are bad, just how they are manufactured)

  • That's asinine.

Your two points are "computers are useful", and "computers aren't bad, how they're made is bad".

    Asinine.

She's a hypocrite, and the only reason you can't see it is because you're as brainwashed as she is. She's saying "I think product 'X' is manufactured in a way that's killing people, so to let people know how evil it is, I'll buy one (or more), and tell people how wrong it is that they support these companies!"

Imagine how expensive computers would be if she had her way.

  • @hossrex Couldn't of said it better myself.

  • @hossrex

Apparently using the internet (Where the main audience is, perhaps?) to transfer information was a little over your head >_>.

What would you suggest she use, magazines and editorials? Because that industry is holding up well compared to online media :|.

  • @wuatduhf

So what? That's like saying "Sure I'm an animal loving vegetarian, but since no one else is a vegetarian, I have to slaughter cows, so I can write my message on it's skin and meat. That way the message will get to the people who need it most!"

It doesn't matter that it's seemingly reasonable to use a computer to create an anti-computer message... IT'S STILL USING A COMPUTER TO CREATE AN ANTI-COMPUTER MESSAGE.

    Twit.

  • @hossrex

A video discussing how the planet's resources are being drained due to the strains of continuous product consumption and near-immediate disposal has been reduced to nothing but an "Anti-computer message"?

For only a minute at most does this video discuss computers, not even that they are completely a 'poison' in their own sense. If you paid attention to the video she clearly notes that because they cannot be re-used and the entire machine must be trashed is the main reason. >_>

  • @wuatduhf

You're right. If you discount the lunatic things said in this video, it starts to sound much more rational.

How could I have missed that?

  • @hossrex

Can't really deny that part, since the basis of the video was to explain (not in detail, but enough to give the average Internet population) the processes through which capitalism is fueled in the United States, and how it is globally affecting our resources and breaking the equilibrium of the world towards an unstable, chaotic future.

How we as a people fell into this system of irrational, deceitful corruption beats me. =|

  • @wuatduhf

PRECISELY! So. You have two options. Decide that your lifestyle is important to you, and maintain your usage of computers...

Or to shun modern technology, and live as a hunter/gatherer (or at least following the pattern of Thoreau), and avoid any modern convenience/contrivance.

Still here? Still using your computer?

Well... ummmmmmmmmm... pretty hard to take the latter stance... no?

But hey, it's all up to you. All I ask is that you THINK before you follow like a sheep.

  • @hossrex

I assume your thinking has determined that when I say 'Capitalism', you process 'modern concenience/contrivance.'

Interesting result you got there, Sheep. =P

  • @wuatduhf

lol... actually yes, because there's no incentive to develop, innovate, or INVEST in anything in a society without capitalism.

Do you even know WHY people create life saving drugs? Or powerful super computers? Or faster/safer airplanes?

Why do you think they do those things?

  • @hossrex

If you can tell me how any of those questions relates to the video, then I'll be happy to entertain yourself, as you seem to be raising points that are completely irrelevant to anything on this video.

The Story of Stuff summary: We need make better decisions about our everyday "Stuff", instead of involving ourselves free-willingly to the over-consumption of everyday products.

Your argument summary: This video is idiotic because it's assaulting the internet and technology.

    -_-

  • @wuatduhf

;) Just keep changing the topic... that's cool. You seem like a real peach as well.

    Where was YOUR computer made?

  • @hossrex ... Because they want to help their fellow man... Not because of the money! :P

(unless you are a tremendously selfish bastard) xD

  • @hossrex How else she supposed to get the information out on a wide level? Stupid comment my friend. You should be trying to create positive change, not rip those people down who are trying to make things better and educate the rest of us.

Just because you feel bad about doing nothing, doesnt mean you should try and discredit the good ones

  • @hossrex

Well, somehow she had to share her opinion and actually there are not so many people left who understand smoke signal =/

  • @Idril90

How much hypocrisy is allowable in the name of furthering a cause? How much hypocrisy is expected before people stop taking a person seriously?

If I'm opposed to animal testing... if I firebomb laboratories which do testing... if I murder people who kill animals for scientific testing... am I justified in using insulin to treat my diabetes, even though the insulin is produced specifically from animal byproducts?

How much hypocrisy is okay? And why?

  • @hossrex I don't get it, sorry. Saying the truth is hypocrisy? Because she has a point in saying we are consuming too much and too fast. She's just trying to be heared by more people then she could have been by simply making a speech in her garden. I'm not american and to get her message this is the only way for me. Sorry for my bad english. IMHO the truth is the middle; to use your example, if he get better habits, like eating healthier, we would need less insulin.

  • @Idril90

I'm astonished that you have a hard time understanding this.

    How about this.

Lets pretend that using a computer kills a puppy. Lets pretend you have a problem with puppy death. This seems extreme... but I'm just swapping "destructive to the world" with "killed a puppy". So she decides to use a computer to tell people about this puppy death thing.

In the name of saving puppies, she's just killed a puppy.

This makes sense to you? What fucking country are you from?

  • @hossrex

Using your analogy let's say that by killing 1 puppy she saved 10 puppies. Surely that's a good thing no? Especially for the 9 puppies that didn't have to needlessly die before their time.

Love the way you describe yourself as a moron by the way.

I see no hypocrisy between someone using a PC to

  • @TheBrutalDeluxe

You're completely missing my point (obviously).

One person killing one puppy to save ten? Seems reasonable. Good of the many and all. The problem is obviously (to anyone who isn't shortsighted) that while one person sacrificing 1 to save 10 seems okay... what happens if 10 people do that same thing? All of a sudden 10 puppies have died to save 10 puppies.

Who has the right to be that "one person"? Who makes that decision?

That's why it's bullshit. Pretty simple.

  • @hossrex

As inane as your point was, I really do think that I got it. As for your riposte(for what it's worth), simple maths skills would tell you that if 1 puppy death=10 puppy saved, then 10 puppy deaths=100 puppies saved regardless of who is doing the killing. That means 90 puppies didn't have to needlessly die. Again, a good thing no?

  • How about we don't use your bullshit analogy.

I built my current PC 2 years ago because my last one couldn't run the latest games. At the moment my missus uses my last PC because she has no interest in gaming and her friend uses the one I built before that. By passing on (recycling if you like) 2 PCs rather than taking them the tip (or dump as you may call it) I've saved 2 PCs having to be needlessly manufactured. Again that's a good thing no? Though maybe not so good for Dell or whoever.

  • @TheBrutalDeluxe

The problem there though... is that my "bullshit" analogy is completely related to the discussion at hand (i.e. whether or not a person should participate in something they consider harmful in an effort to stop that harmful thing), while yours... doesn't... at all. Not even slightly.

She's doing something harmful... in an effort to get other people to stop doing what she does.

If that's such a difficult thing to understand... I can see why the world is so fucked.

  • @hossrex

Your analogy bears no relevance at all to the debate of rampant consumersism. No-one and no puppies wil die from purchasing 1 computer. I'm sick of people trying to point out an hypocrisy that isn't there of anti-consumerists using a PC to get their message across. Do you expect them to use an old school mailshot to the entire world? No, you wouldn't. That would be ridiculous. Just like your bullshit analogy!

  • We're all consumers. That's a fact. The message from these anti-consumerism videos is consume less and to try to consume in a manner that isn't needlessly raping the planet of it's resources if possible.

You seem to have totally ignored my relevant story of passing on obsolete PCs rather than dumping them and purchasing brand new ones. Maybe I should have involved puppies somehow.

Anyway, as your lack of basic maths skills indicates a low intelligience, I'll leave you to it. Toodle pip!

  • @TheBrutalDeluxe

No matter how many times you stamp your feet, it isn't going to make your example of recycling any more relevant to the subject of hypocrisy.

Why are you just ignoring my claims of hypocrisy? Why can't you indulge me, and at least ATTEMPT to bother having the same conversation I am?

Do you think the subject of hypocrisy is completely irrelevant to the subject of environmental hysteria?

    Seriously?

Do a google search for "carbon credits", then try saying that.

  • @hossrex The main problem is that not all are aware of this problem, so sharing her opinion might be usefull as a reminder for all of us. =/ Many diseases are a product of our way of living; there could be less ppl with diabets, if they would just stop eating in fast food. Diabets existed even before our society, but now too much person have it because of obesity. I don't think we should linger on hypocrisy or irony of this video, it's too easy.

  • @Idril90

1: You forgot to answer my oft repeated question... how much hypocrisy is okay?

2: Your little diatribe about obesity was completely irrelevant, and highlights just how badly you missed my point.

3: You're telling me not to linger... yet you spent time to reply to my comment from almost two years ago.

    You're a fantastic guy.

  • @hossrex I didn't miss your point, I'm sorry you didn't understood mine =/ Following your way of thinking also your speech about diabets is useless. It doesn't get to a point, while I tried to give you a solution. I said: "truth is in the middle", so a small amount of hipocrisy is ok. I accept her hypocrisy, I accept the use of a mass media to tell more people then just your neighbors your point of view on such a matter. You're writing on youtube so if you don't want comment, don't write.

  • @Idril90

Who the hell said I didn't want "comment"? That you think my comment about the hypocrite using insulin isn't apt in this conversation about electronic hypocrisy REALLY stresses that you didn't get my point.

Let me phrase it this way. If all seven billion people on Earth did things THEY THEMSELVES considered destructive, in the name of pointing out that the action in question is destructive... would it still be okay?

How would any of them be any more wrong then her?

    Checkmate?

  • @hossrex It's so sad you consider this a question of.. checkmate. It's not worthy answering you, since you don't really want an answer. Just let me conclude saying that we get, what we deserve.

  • @Idril90

It's not worth making sure you have a firm grasp on the situation because you don't like the way some moron online is talking to you?

Okay. Just remember, if you go through life packing up and taking your toys home every time someone hurts your feelings, you're going to wind up missing out on a whole lot of valuable self-introspection... especially if you don't bother to look at WHY the person said something hurtful towards you.

It also smells like you don't have a rebuttal.

  • Who cares, i'ill be dead by the "toxins" actually effect us.

  • @soundfags..You make me sad.

  • But... but... :( i like toxins. they give me the meanest hard-on.

  • what can i do to help?

  • shut the fuck up

  • lol

  • ok take off your close burn your house put your car in a lake and go live in the middel of no where with a mud hut and cook your food on a fire what a dumb ass

  • You're what's wrong with humanity.

  • @123imtehshow123

    Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

  • What a load of crap!

  • What an informative video, because as we know, so many people are savagely killed by the neurotoxins in their pillows. Thank God for this warning

  • this isn't communist propaganda. nowhere does she even mention communism. this is, however, slightly anti-capitalist propaganda. but its true. and if you think its a lie, its just because you are too afraid to see the truth. deindustrialization is the only way. wish it was possible.

  • @sugarhigh0307 " deindustrialization is the only way. wish it was possible."

That dosent make sense - how can that be the only way if its not possible.

  • @sugarhigh0307 i didnt understand a word you just said

  • @sugarhigh0307 1 person says i must hav the smallest arm in the world

the second says i must have the smallest leg in the world

the third says i must have the smallest penis in the world

so they get the guiness world book of records

the fist person says i do have the smallest arm in the world

the second says i do have the smallest leg in the world

the third one storms in and says who the f u c k is justin bieber

  • pretty good little movie thuogh

  • Its all a government conspiracy! dont you people see, none of this is really a problem. ^.-

  • Reduce the energy of the ether by making us pay for an energy wasting process. Oil or gas additives. Is there any water in our gasoline. Catalytic converters wastes the burnable CO to make greenhouse gas CO2, the Illuminati got one over on us that time.

  • This is an example of how to ruin a great argument. By being opinionated, self righteous, biasing facts, giving too much information not allowing space for listeners to think and form their own opinions this lady spoils a the presentation.

  • Isn't it awesome how she does this entire video on a white backgroung? Being that white backgrounds use the most electricity to show up on screens. I'm glad she us pointing the finger at us "evil capitalists" while shes using the system to peddle her energy wasting background.

  • That's the fact my friend, they criticize the system, but can't live without A/C and without drinking Wisky. Hipocrit bastards........ Tell Chavez not to sell oil because it pollutes the enviroment, I just wanna hear his answer...

  • "Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear."

    ~Thomas Jefferson

  • SOCIALIST PROPAGANDA!!!! This lady is a liberal crazy idiot, not only does she not have her facts correct on just about anything, she is funded by a group that is totally against the Constitution. I am a Teacher and can't believe ANY teacher would show this to students. Teacher's you have an obligation to do HOMEWORK also, do not be swayed by the liberals, socialist, the Unions, those against the U.S Constitution, or special interest groups.

  • Totally agree with you. This is like michael moore shit!!!!

  • Yeah there are BFRs and this bitch has been eating plate after plate of the shit in 500% concentrations. Displastic Cretinoid cunt.

  • What the fuck is this bitch talking about? Sorry lady companies are forced to put those flame retardant chemicals on everything because the "government needs to take care of me crowd" is too dumb to know how to not light themselves on fire. Instead of takinfg responsibility for their own retardation they will sure everyone involved in the manufacturing of said pillows & the government for not telling them how to not light themselves on fire. The nanny state you advocate created this retardation

  • Bull shit

  • Didn't know iPods were madeof trees!!! ; P

  • Obama administration + Tides foundation + Acorn group= NNSM NEW NATIONAL SOCIALIST MOVEMENT

  • Hahahaha yes u're sooooo right. This looks like the beggining of the "New Era Socialism" in this country... Or George Orwell's "Animal Farm", or "1984"

  • It looks to me like she is wearing a cotton shirt (made in Indonesia), Jeans (made in China), and a button down shirt (Hecho en Mexico). All of which were dry cleaned (Trichloroethylene). And Hair done professionally (what chemicals did THEY use).

I HATE Liberal Marxists.. All Hypocrites. Just like the Communist party in the USSR, they all drove NICE cars and ate caviar, while the people rode bicycles and stood in bread and borsch lines.

  • Yeh man you're right. Tell her to tell Chavez in Venezuela to stop selling oil 'cause it affects the enviroment. Tell her to use a bike instead of a car... This is all communist adverticement and propaganda.

  • Looks like Mrs. Hips isnt a vegan (you could fit a ax-handle on them hips)... so she must eat meat. BAD BAD BAD.

  • I'm really glad this video quotes all it's sources.

  • toxins in = toxins out, bullshit in = bullshit out, search the facts. This is so stupid.

  • Lynn Harsh w/ the Evergreen Freedom Foundation was on Glenn Beck, she said herself and an economic student put together a storyboard to be distributed to schools as a contrast the "Story of Stuff". This way our children can get both sides of the story, they can choose for themselves and their minds are not as vulnerable to corruption.

We need to be ever vigilant!!!

  • O.k., when she said how breast feeding is sooo toxic, I had to turn it off. Honestly, how can anyone sit through 20 minutes of this crap? There are good points, yes we need to do things differently, but it starts with stopping the GREED and CORRUPTION in AMERICA, not with brainwashing our children in our schools, which is what this is aimed at doing.

  • This chick is whacked, an sooo cool. Addresses her audience(children) with "Duh." Wonder if she drives an SUV like her God/mentor Al Gore? Notice her references to "original" forests. Well, hell, yes. Since those detestable Europeans came and screwed everything up, many trees have been felled.God gave us seeds...We've re-planted those virgin forests. This drips with propaganda. Why we're taking bread out of starving children's mouths in third world countries every time we flush the toilet...

  • This is very helpfull.

  • how many people have gotten sick from pillows besides people who eat them. none. just because you tell us this dozent mean its true its all just a lie. i dont believe anything any sort of envirnmentalist or howevery you spell it tells me!!!!!!

  • "whole communities get wasted."

    couldn't help laughing... xD

    lovin the vid though.

  • I love how everyone is just worshipping this as a message from God Himself. Read through the comments, and do some research yourself; most of this is horribly, horribly wrong. Honest to God, people are such tools. When Big Brother comes along to take over Oceania, he won't have a problem getting supporters; he'll just post a half-assed video on YouTube.

  • I'm not criticising this video, but what does toxic mean? Yes chemical are toxic if ingested, but so is salt. Drinking to much water or eating to much salt can throw off the chemical balance within out bodies. I agree that we use to many chemicals, but many toxic (if used incorrectly) chemicals are the foundation of our medicines that save thousands of lives everyday. This video has lots of criticisms, but no solutions or alternatives.

  • thats y u shud only eat 9 grams of salt a day. or ur body cant handle it.

  • That's funny, she's wearing manufactured clothing.

  • Probably Organic Cloths(0 Fertilizers, 0 Pesticides, 0 Genetic Altered Plants, 0 Irradiation, 0 Synthetic Materials(0 Toxics))

  • You guys are completely missing the point when you point things out like that she's consuming, too. Focus on the actual message.

  • Funny, I was sitting in my garage yesterday saying, I have a lot of stuff.

  • This isn't that bad! I don't know why everyone hates this...

  • Note that haters have no argument against those exposed in the video.

    Astroturfing + propaganda make miracles...

  • Its hilarious that this absolute hack job is being pushed in the skrool systems.

  • What the hell is this!? I've never seen such blatant socialistic muddleheaded propaganda in all of my life. Private ownership of the means of production (aka capitalism) has lifted more people out of poverty than any other system in human history. Read some Friedman or Mises for fucks sake.

  • hey if ur not gonna say anything but BS then dont say it at all! seriously this vid is tellin the truth but ur just so fed up with ur own made up crappy ideas that u dont understand.

  • Dude who ever believe in this video is an extremely ignorant and non thinking person.

  • what the hell is she saying at 0:45? we're making flame proof pillows that are toxic? STOP EATING YOUR ####ING PILLOWS!

  • YOUTUBE/GOOGLE THE NEW WORLD ORDER!!

  • LAME

  • MAN, this is truly annoying. You could have uploaded this video into three parts of ten minutes, like everybody else did...why askling the watcher to go and find parts scattered around like tis?

thanks anyway, but you should think better next time: people need to see these documentary, and scattering them in little pieces is NOT the best way to get them to find them!

  • you just type 'the story of stuff' and there is a playlist. not that hard.

but yeah, it could be 3 maybe even only 2 video's, would be better.

  • you know, had you not told me, I probably would have never understod I to watch this documentary. Dah.

  • So where did these products come from???

    Wal - mart

Their motto - MONEY AND PRODUCTION SALES FIRST, AND AMERICA'S SAFETY, HEALTH CARE SECOND

  • Ouch, again this only considers the worst case scenario. We have flame retardant pillows because we were burning up to many people in house fires. It was the Gov that was trying to protect the people. Ok maybe a mistake was made, the answer is not to close the factory that make the pillow. Ch 3 comimits at least 3 Fallacies: Appeals to fear, appeals consquences of a belief and Guilt by Association. Oh yea, slippery slope---that an easy one.

  • sorry but i loled when she said brominated flame retardants.

    lol.

    RETARDants

  • when I see this I can understand why conservatives are pissed off about us liberals.

How about giving up global production then, I am sure Annie Leonard is not going to miss her jeans.

There are good arguments for anarcho-primitivism but please don't use a modernist liberal agenda to smoke screen your views then.

  • you say "WE" a lot... maybe far too much!

Ive never doused anything in neuro toxins.

  • Comment removed

  • video 3 is by far the most disturbing. what the F are we doing? i am so guilty of owning and wasting too much.. and feel terribly guilty about it.. but it seems impossible to avoid unless i were to drop out of society. i want to learn how to be a responsible consumer.

  • turn on tune in drop out =P

  • lol.. hey pat :-D

  • cool

  • It's true about the workers. I went down to third world country Nicaragua and saw and learned how they're being effected by the system. I think the flaw with the system is the lack of knowledge of what it's really about and this woman really says it how it is. Idk if she's 100% right but I think she's got the jist of it. Single moms with five kids have to work in these sweat shops and earn $2 a day. I totally encourage everyone to explore these issues and U.S. influence in the world.

  • Cool style.

  • So please, Mr. prplhayes06, future Nobel Prize economy, please enlightened us with your view. Share your complexities thoughts with us. We will really try to understand them.

  • I'm certainly not religious, I'm atheist. I think 'evil' is a human construct, but that actions considered 'evil' are usually ones which are natural, due to their being useful in an evolutionary sense, e.g. greed, lust, etc.

I also think that your idea of a 'hard life' causing evil is not quite right; I would say it causes anger, violence, antisocial behaviour, but true evil, e.g. genocide, torture etc, can come from the most civilised of backgrounds.

  • These videos are flawed; for example "the government is servicing the corporations instead of us"... WE ARE the corporations; without them many jobs are gone, with exceptions of course (teachers, farmers, others). I haven't watched all of the videos but i suspect that they will also fail to provide a solution, or will give one with more holes in it than swiss cheese. Unfortunately ppl fail to realise that humanity is badly flawed and there is no solution... except maybe genetic modification???

  • That was the most ignorant comment i've come across, ever. Of course there are solutions. Your attitude already says it all in your comment..." i haven't seen the rest of these videos but i bet she has no solution". That is exactly the kind of Fat headed American attitude that will get us all fucked. Maybe if you put a little time into trying to solve these problems YOU could find a solution, but you give up like a little bitch.

  • Wow, abusive. Lucky I'm not an american... So what's your solution then mate? You may be willing to give up the pleasantries of capitalism, but the vast majority of western society is not.

  • Sincere apologies for the verbal slap.Your suggestion of genetic modification sounds good but its not what we need.We are conditioned by our environment and that is what leads to laziness, greed and an appetite for more material. You're right,it would be a long hard road to convince people to change their lifestyle,we dont do whats good for ourselves until its too late. But some of us dont want to wait until then.Big business's easily affect our way of life. Why do we find that so important?Cheers

  • Haha, thats an amazing turnaround in aggression levels... maybe because i'm not american? kidding. I think because big business is the system which gets people the most of what they personally want (even if they only want it because of business advertising) It will continue to be the most powerful system. Big business in itself is not evil, it is simply about mass production or services and optimum productivity; the flaws lie with greed and selfishness, which are inherently human.

  • Maybe the solution lies not with negating our impact by changing ourselves, which I cynically consider impossible, but with reducing our impact on the environment by reducing population; Paying people large sums to be sterilized before having any children is a notion i played with, but governments always want larger populations. Maybe it's time for another massive virus, spanish-flu style. With globalization, the impact could be massive. Tragedy on a personal level, but miracle on a global one.

  • Come on, you are starting to sound religious now. You really think people are inherently evil? I would like to know and understand your opinion on that subject. People have free will and in my opinion learn evil as they grow up. It could be a lack of love or a hard life. People aren't born with evil thoughts in their head.

  • all you gays r fuking dum!! cant you see what she sayin is fuking so true...this world needs change or we fuked!!

  • USA is a consumist country...a lot of people that live there don't care about global warming...i hope ovama turns to be the president because i think he will make USA society change

  • i'm sorry but... retardants? lol but your right people keep using stuf to make litter around the world so it will be destroyed. The best future is a CLEAN future.

  • I agree...

  • I am shocked that people are so negative towards these videos. This is not propaganda... this lady spent over ten years studying how we make and use stuff. It's okay to admit we're doing things wrong!

  • I agree- I think people are losing focus on the message and getting caught up in BS.

  • conclusion: turn off your computer and stay the hell away from your computer

  • burn your books and stay away from your books....XD

  • AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! WERE GOING TO DIEEE!!! but still i don't wanna get rid of my hairspray! it smells like vanilla :D

  • Live long an prosper; why not live a long, healthy, enjoyable, productive life?? Ever work with some of these toxic materials? I know I have, and have seen a lot of sick workers - it's no joke, and that cuts down on everyone's quality of life. What's dumb about it is that we can do better, and we'll have to if we want a high quality of life, the true measure of prosperity.

  • well perhaps that woman could talk to us like we have more than 2 brain cellls? I don't disagree that the message is true, but the way she presents it is absolutely astoundingly offensive.

  • Why is it offensive. What about the people that have no idea...and there are many! Does it really matter what format this is presented in? If its too condescending for you, perhaps you should watch something like 11th hour? Don't dunn it. Any message is good. Nx

  • Yes, it's condescending. Any message is not good if it repels the listener.

  • Good video, but HATE the condescending tone...

  • reading some of these comments makes me think, we deserve everything that we get. As the fall of the Roman empire took place, the fall of this capitalism will take place, many will suffer, due to losing their stuff. I say, one learns through bumping their heads, and these young minds will need plenty of head banging to learn. Thank you for taking the time and trying to enlightened this dark world, but I feel it is too late for many. Forgive them father for they know not what they do.

  • learn to spell before you call people dumbasses.

    seriously!

  • lets see...

200k A DAY, are you f'ing kidding me?

    lets look at that...

73 million people rural people a year getting displaced and put into factories?

at that pace half the population on earth would be working in a factory in 10-20 years.

yeah, thats a BIT of an overstatement, just like everything else in these damn videos.

Just got back to your doobie smoking... capitalism rules all, if you don't like the consumption, then DON'T BUY stuff. capitalism allows that freedom.
