This enchanting piece is the result of a joke. Some friends of the composer played him Tea for Two on a gramophone and allowed him to listen to it one time only. S was then given pen and paper and locked in a room along with the instruction to write down an orchestral arrangement within 30 minutes. He succeeded in writing this within 20 minutes...
@squadala994 You are right! Shostakovich had a wager with the conductor Nikolai Malko for 100 roubles that he couldn't do it in under an hour. Shostakovich completed the orchestration in 45 minutes.
@nessiepoo94 Yes, because this was the music to promote a radio programme broadcasted in Spain in 2009, that´s the only reason... and yes, LOL... Tea for two has nothing to do with such serious symphony.
@nleguellec Don't get so heated up! I was going to play the "like button" the other day for a certain piece. But I was sitting sideways and with no support for my arm and hand, I accidentally pressed the "don't like". So I just assume that many of the "don't likes" will be mistakes or accidents like mine.
Incredibile ! Shostakovich....Magnifico Maestro !
