  • Started watching the show since it started last year on sky atlantic, one of the most gripping, funny, sometimes horrific, enthralling, sad and just pure gold, i love it! Right up there with Dexter, one of the best! The ending couldn't have been better, a real tear jerker, pure gold!

  • I hate that I can't think of this without needing to watch it again, because jesus it destroys me every time.

  • 'you can't take a picture this is already gone... awesome;)

  • ugh fucking amazing

  • Dude Thanks for the video.

I haven't been able to watch the finale piece, since 2006, the first and the last time that I saw it. Even now, I can't stop crying.

This reminds us the importance of express our feelings and say "love you" Thanks SFU for make me feel better person. I'm completely agree with The New York Times: "the best finale ever"

  • Nothing in this universe is sadder than the death of Ben in Thomas Wolfe's "Look Homeward Angel" ..."we can believe in the nothingness of life, we can believe in the nothingness of death and life after death-but who can believe in the nothingness of Ben?" "Old Ben, when shall we see HIS like again?"

  • Always hits the soft spot!

  • I wish that they would have shown the death of George, Maggie, Billie and his mom, but I think it would be kinda unnecessary since they're not like the MAIN main characters...

  • Could have done without the boring middle seasons but the finale really made it all worthwhile.

  • Uuuummm. i think I might've made a huge mistake. I have no idea what I just watched and suddenly I'm all curious and want to know more about all these people and what this clip means; and then I realize I've just spoiled an entire TV-show for myself.

But... is it still worth it? Oh god I wish I hadn't seen this!!!

  • @NUBF this is one of the best written and acted dramas ever produced for television. Just rent the dvds and enjoy regardless that you saw part of the finale. I have seen the entire series many times and I laugh through the entire series and cry at the finale every time. The best word to describe this show is "authentic." It will never take a shortcut or easy way to a punchline or the truth. This drama delivers 'life' in the most unexpected way -through death. Watch with no distractions.

  • @NUBF Trust me, I watched this first accidentally too, then watched the series, IT IS SOOOOOO WORTH IT. Trust me. When you watch the whole series then you get to this part you will just cry lol. Trust me it's worth it.

  • @proceejo oh okay thanks, I'll definitely watch it then!!!

  • Keith's death is so depressing. This show was not something I would ever imagine myself watching, and people cannot imagine that I actually liked it, but it's one of the greatest shows I've ever seen, up there with The Wire. It's stuff like this that makes television worth watching. Bravo.

  • Just finished this series after an episode a week for well over a year. God damn it...

  • The cut from old Claire's eyes, to the dates of her birth and death, and then to young Claire's eyes as she's driving off into the distance with the next 80 years of her life all before her, is one of the best ever.

  • unbelievable, but after watching this in this point of my life, i feel loads better.

  • Start to hear Sia - Breath Me song... i knew i was gonna cry

  • This makes me think, were these actually how the characters die or were they just Claire's imaginings of how they might go? Does it matter?

  • The best ending to a show, EVER! Hits right home to the fact that everyone you love will one day die.

  • Greatest show ever

  • Man fuck death, Im avoiding that shit.

  • Damn life sucks

  • What did Brenda whisper to Claire at 6:17?

  • @Camplazlo999 I think that was Maya

  • i miss this show,

  • someone can watch this without start to cry?

  • I picture that at the end of my life i have this video to go by

  • hey thats dexter!!

  • @besties4ever18

    Yeah and hes gay.

  • Such a great show. Fantastic ending.

  • It's impossible to sit this through with your eyes dry. The perfect ending to the show, to any show.

  • I can honestly say that i feel this is the perfect ending to the show... but its so sad that it had to end...

  • No show compares to this.

  • David's death is probably the most devastating moment ever captured on film or video or harddrive.

  • @militiagung64 absolutely..

  • @militiagung64 The way he looks straight at the camera before dying is really powerful.

  • @2:19 i wanted to yell SHUT UP NATHAN!!!!

  • @josephmlong, Nate is short for Nathaniel. Not Nathan.

  • @shutitok Nate, Nathaniel, Nathan...it's all the same XD

  • Wonderful show. Kind of sad that Claire lived another 34 years without anyone. Brenda was the last one before her to die in 2051, she didnt pass until 2085.

  • @tscotwv true but she may still have been living with her husband

  • @nyhilusofborg, Um, she was 102 and her husband was several years older than her. Do the math. Never mind common sense, it said she outlived him in the obituary for her character on the website and in the Collector's DVD set.

  • @shutitok you're right i misspoke... i meant that she probably wasn't living for all 34 years without anyone who cared about her. but please don't condescend to me. not everyone in the world owns the collector's edition.

  • @nyhilusofborg, Does everyone in the world know basic math? I think so. I'll "condescend to you" all I want. Especially since you just made it clear that in addition to basic math, you also don't know basic English.

  • @shutitok obvious troll is obvious...

  • @nyhilusofborg, Yeah, I'm obviously a troll. And I'm so into it, that I went out and bought the entire Six Feet Under series so I could become a huge fan of the show and come here and correct some random person who can't just take it and move on. Are you done yet?

  • @shutitok absolutely.

  • Beautiful Show. Beautiful Cast. Beautiful finale. i loved and will always appreciate Six Feet Under

  • I ended Six Feet Under today and I saw just today this scene for the first time. I keep seeing it since and I cannot stop. It's simply amazing.

  • Best show ever...

  • i cried

  • Thank You Comcast-rarely ever said- for putting this on the lineup.

  • I just watched the season finale tonight and I cried my eyes out. I just had to see it again and I still cried my eyes out. This was the most powerful ending of a Tv series I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful. What I liked most abt this series is there were no lies or surealness about it. Everything is exactly how life is. They don't try to pretend life is something its not like most of these tv series. A Tv show has NEVER effected me as much as this has. Absolutely amazing, I love it :)

  • @Trevorx91 I just finished watching the series and I'm like you, crying my heart out... So brilliant, sad and happy at the same time. This show truly makes you re-evaluate your perspective in life...

  • @Trevorx91 My thoughts EXACTLY.

  • Does the last shot remind anyone else of a car commercial?

  • @SoQuiet112 I had almost the same reaction

  • Great serie. One of the best ever.

A doubt here... what was Brenda doing when she died? don't get it... :$

  • @lovedexter2 She had Parkinsons (her hand was shaking). She died of old age/boredom listening to Billy!

  • @janderson1234 Okay, thank you! My imagination had gone too far LOL

  • a favor ;P

  • @lovedexter2 according to the directors commentary, her brother bored her to death (literally) talking about his and claires break up, still after all those years

  • sad

  • I just watched this for the first time in almost 6 years and all I can say is Wow! A great ending to one of the best shows of all time. It brought the tears right back.

  • verdaderamente bella serie, pero muy triste

  • I wish the song, "Breathe Me," could last the entirety of my life like it did Claire's. There's something about it that just speaks about the human condition. If it were longer, it'd be the soundtrack of my life as well. Finishing the series though, I've found one of the best driving songs ever.

  • there were four truly perfect shows that were popular in the early 2000s: The Wire, The Sopranos, The Shield, and Six Feet Under

  • Nate running after the car was the best part... ;_;

  • @JanesInChains1990 Yeah it was

  • @Pozla93 Little troll-child, you are no different from cockroaches and just as unwanted.

  • honestly the best ending tv show ever... I'm a man but I cried like a girl when I saw the final episode...(and it was not the first time since the beginning of six feet under) I really love this tv show, when you see all these characters they are like your family with the time and...this heartbreaking ending literaly overwhelmed me. thanks to all allan ball the crator, all the writers, actors etc you are all genious and I miss six feet under

  • same here, that show changed my life

  • What's most interesting is that Claire seems to die alone. There's no family (blood or otherwise) around her.

On the plus side she lived a long life (107 years). 1983 - 2085.

And this was the perfect way to end the show. Everyone has an ending and life goes on.

  • @GreatGarloo Actually she would be 102. Some one didn't make it past the first grade.

  • @menkejo A simple miscalculation in my addition. No need to be a Math Nazi. Now go play outside and be sure not to eat dirt again.

  • I just cried my eyes out like a baby

  • @italianbabex4eva You fucking pussy.

  • @Pozla93 go fuck yourself you piece of shit. no one asked for your opinion.

  • even after all these years, i still hae tears in my eyes after seeing this..beautiful show..i will miss it

  • they just don't make them like this anymore...

  • @calmtides yeah they do: dexter and true blood. I really think that Michael C. Hall MADE that show. Obviously, credit to Ball as a producer and the rest of the cast are there, too, but something about Hall.... seriously. If he wasn't cast in that show as a "gay mortician" the show would have been canceled second season, like Carnival (a show that should have NEVER BEEN CANCELED! inho)... oh well... all things to an end.

  • The best, most astounding thing EVER on television. I was awestruck. I will never, ever, ever forget it!

  • Every time I watch this it makes me cry, and as hard as I try not to. Such a great show and a fantastic finale.

  • @ProgramableSoda Allen Ball is a brilliant artist who is more "ahead of the curb" than any I've seen in regards to television series. (True Blood. American Beauty)

  • This series finale is so sincere...gets me every time.

  • @kadafi84 That's because life and death are as profound as it gets. The messages throughout the series are very positive no matter what condition you are in: "you are alive, soon you wont be. So you might as well enjoy it while you can. We live and grow right along side with the Fischers and other characters. There are pieces of us in all of them. I'm grateful I was able to share a bit of my life growing with these characters. Allen Ball, you truly are a sincere and brilliant contribution. Amen.

  • i thought my heart would stop beating. i cried so much.

  • I lost my mother a year ago and still I say that this is this most perfect ending to the most perfect show eve made. Kisses, Claire. I miss my mother too!

  • I cannot think of a more sincere way the show creators could have said thank you to the fans than this. My partner and I loved this show. When you hear your favourite show is ending, you sometimes worry about the finale, such as, will they give everything justice and will I feel all the better about having watched it based solely on the ending. Anyways, this ending truly gives justice to every single minute I spent watching the show. Such a beautiful show and phenomenal ending.

  • That smile Nate gives to his mom as she's dying kills me!

  • @JakeNeverRises, TOTALLY! That is the one part, assuming I'm not already bawling my eyes out from his "you can't take a picture of this, it's already gone" line, or the shot of his head getting smaller as he's jogging in the rear view mirror...that smile is just too much. I'm not at all religious, but the thought of our lost loved ones coming back for us is about the most comforting thing I can possibly imagine.

  • Why do I torture myself over and over again by watching this so many times? It's just such an amazing ending to a great show. I just get so sad every time I watch it.

  • @JakeNeverRises I wonder that myself. I know I'm going to tear up, but I just keep... wanting to

  • @JakeNeverRises Me too!

  • @JakeNeverRises it's not just sad, it's uplifting as well.

  • my all time fav show this ending was so awesome i recomend u watch the whole series 2 get the ending ........everything bout this show was outstanding subject matter the scenery all of it done so well hbos masterpiece........this finally blew me away allways will watch thanxz robert

  • @ChrisTheMediaMan I'm trying to not spoil (realized i did hours ago so i deleted my message to MCHDexterFans

Sorry, my english isn't perfect, made my best. And sorry for talking shit and saying useless things.

  • @ChrisTheMediaMan Haaa, i'm exhausted. For responding (and trying to be a little bit shorter than that) what i wanted to express before is that watching the end in disorder will just take out surprises, emotions from some episodes (i'm thinking about the episode "Dog's Day" (not sure) - (kinda freaky) in the season four / and of course Nate's """"thing"""" through all seasons)

  • @ChrisTheMediaMan Hahaha, i started to watch it in streaming but it was too complicated etc, so i bought it too months ago on amazon! :) (great packaging...) Whatever... Well, hmm, ruin you're right, no, this is the greatest show, for me, this is the smartest, the saddest, the funniest, the most beautiful show i've ever watched. It just opens your mind, the actors are amazing, the script...

  • who was the guy at 5:20?

  • Comment removed

  • @messyspooky i just started watching it recently. Just finished season 2. So i havent gotten that far. haha thx for responding. =)

  • @MCHDexterFan Oh gosh i'm so sorry, i spoiled..

  • @messyspooky no worries. I am a spoiler freak lol

  • @MCHDexterFan thats a guy from claires office when she works in the cubicle

  • This is one of my favorite shows, and hands down the BEST series finale ever! It was like a gift to their fans the way they completed the stories of everyone.

  • best ending in cable history

  • There's something about this music that brings literally everyone to tears. It is truly amazing.

  • I can't stop watching this series.. Not only was it a great story line, but it was acted out perfectly! And the ending.. OMG seriously the best ever created!!! Once it was over, I felt like I lost my own family... now that's a good show!

  • I sobbed the entire final 15 minutes. It was so cathartic

  • This show proves gay people are people too

  • Too bad Ball went from this masterpiece to the fucking shit that True Blood is

  • is Jake the guy behind rico in the wedding?

  • It's hard to make me cry, but I had tears watching this and I have never even seen the show. This is an incredible way of ending a series. I can only imagine the impact this must have had on long-time viewers. Definitely need to purchase the series on DVD.

  • @ChrisTheMediaMan

This is too bad. The fact that you watched this before the entire show ruines everything...

  • @messyspooky It will affect and reduce the experience, no doubt. But 'ruin' is a bit drastic. Besides, I've really enjoyed countless shows while already knowing the ending. If the show is as good as people make it out to be and produces quality material during the duration of the seasons, I think I should be in for a swell ride. Already ordered the complete series from amazon. :)

  • yeah ok...3 people LITERALLY have no emotions

  • Never has any show given so much resolution. We never have to ask, what happened to this character or this couple. We already know and for that I am grateful. I watched this show from the first episode to the last and cherished every minute. Few shows have touched so deep or made you care about the characters so much.

  • This was the best 8 minutes of film I've ever seen.Truly a remakable work of art.Done with such class, sensitivity and meaning.I've watched it continuosly for 2 hrs.and cried and I'm an army man.Especially with the haunting music nothing comes close.

  • This show has made me so damn sad but in a good way. I was in tears this entire episode.

  • I'm an emotion addict. And whenever I need my "fix" I watch something like this. My thanks to all that made this show what it is. And to the one that posted to video. Thank you for giving me such powerful emotions.

  • I think the saddest part might be when David see's Keith catching the ball just before he dies... :'(

    Excellent show!

  • Where is she going ?

  • @erotagitsaC ny

  • lol the lady who plays claire when shes old looks creepy as hell.

  • Best ending of a series ever...

  • @RobertKlaric22 I second that!

  • @RobertKlaric22 far better than the sopranos ending

  • There were 5 series,2001 to 2005, 63 episodes in all.

  • @Christopherwilder47 Well, straight people have been doing that for ages so I think it's only fair to give gay people a chance to join in.

  • When David died was when I realized that there were no more episodes to watch, that the show was done. Thats what really made me feel sad.

  • I miss this show so much. How many series did they make. I'm trying to find them all . There was nothing as true to life as this show. The end when Clair was old, and reviewing the pictures on the wall made me so sad. I can't believe I'm so emotional about a show, but this was not an ordinary show this was an incredible journey.

  • The Most amazing thing ive ever watched in my life was Six Feet Under its only 1 of its kind and will never be done again this show opened my eyes to so much and taught me so much about losing people and life this ending sequence is one of the most beuatiful things ive seen "Best Show In The World"

  • @JIM7650 II know honey.. I know... thank God we can feel ..even if it hurts

  • It's even more emotional if you have watched the series... The appearing of Nathaniel and Nate... It's just so emotional...

  • By the 2nd death i ran to get the tissues, great show

  • A few things I just realized: 1) Claire never has children (that are alluded to); 2) One of David and Keiths sons ends up gay too; 3) I'm wondering if Claire is a senior in the first season (I think so), then her age makes sense; 18, but if not, she is too old to be in HS unless she got left back. (By the 4th ep of season 1, it was already 2001). Does anyone know about this?

  • oft missed details: 4:35 billy has a puppy 4:55 brenda has new husband, looks prego? 5:52 durrell? 6:00 anthony? 6:06 mya to left of george? 6:22 "charles security", keith started his own business 6:47 anthony (or d?) & his husband/boyfriend, on other end of row is durrell (or a?) and his wife and in the middle their kid 6:48 who's younger man beside brenda? a son? a younger bf? is that willa on other side of him? maybe he's willa's bf? 7:15 david's new bf? 7:45 frederico still w his wife :)
  • I think it is so fitting that Brenda dies while Billy is blabbing on and on. Still talking about Claire and "emotional closure" that is classic.

  • Never has any TV show or movie affected me as much as these last 8 minutes. A beautiful and poignant end to one of television's greatest shows. Its amazing how through so much death they paid such a beautiful tribute to life.

  • @ProgramableSoda I hear ya

  • no space colonies, no power armor, not a good ending.

  • is the guy with Brenda-- Bradley Cooper?

  • @TheWill0w No. It's Jeremy Sisto (who plays Billy in the series).

  • @James9371

whoops forgot to put the guy at Davids wedding. Holding the baby and Brendas hand.

  • Have seen Keith die makes me cry like a little baby just in a second.. so sad, so damn unjustified. I am from Argentina, this is my favorite show

  • It's a shame that you didn't include Claire's dream of Nate singing 'a la' christian pop-music - which was very funny and so uncharacteristic of him.

  • So, Darnell became a funeral director rather than a fireman...and the adorable, sweet Anthony was gay. I loved the fact that we were able to see how their stories ended rather than leaving things open, Keith's death was sad. Some of the dvd commentaries accompanying many of the episodes are fascinating - especially Alan Ball's, he used a stunt man for Federico's death scene as he thought that Freddy Rodríguez looked like a twelve year old boy and it was impossible to make him up convincingly!

  • @sleepypoodle how do you know that Anthony was gay?

  • @Pollymedusa18 It's in this video for all to see (although I had a feeling that Anthony was gay when I first saw him in the sand-pit at the 'open day' for people seeking to adopt - the fact that he didn't like getting sand in his shoes was a tell-tale teaser!)

At 5.53 you see him sitting next to his Chinese-looking partner (they're holding hands) at Claire's wedding, and on the left side of David - Darnell is sitting next to his pregnant wife and little boy.

  • i love that brenda dies by being talked to death by her brother. so appropriate. and how perfect that claire loses her vision before she dies, it raises so many questions about her last days, a blind artist? all of them were on point though. i mourn the passing of this entire series.

  • i love that brenda dies by being talked to death by her brother. so appropriate. and how perfect that claire loses her vision before she dies, it raises so many questions about her last days, a blind artist? all of them were so on point though. i mourn the passing of this entire series.

  • The ending doesn't matter, only the journey counts.

  • 3 people have no soul

  • i only watched the first season and decided it wasn't for me i'd heard the ending was great so i watched this and i wish i hadn't although the concept is mildly uplifting the overall message of it is depressing, a very well done scene but wow so sad

  • 3 people think they're going to live forever...

  • Fantastic, fantastic, epic win of a series. Legendary even. I watched this show so intensely, I felt every minute emotion these characters felt. I cried like I was watching my own family's deaths in the finale. I was brimming tears for the next two days. People at work would ask if I was okay and I could just laugh though tears as i told them why. Ridiculous maybe, but just goes to show how amazing this series was. If you haven't seen it, watch it!

  • New invention allows you to stay physially young forever. Just google ''Alex Chiu's Magnetic Discovery'' Then you dont have to fall for this brainwashing scam about how precious death is or life is.

  • I have never seen ONE SECOND of one single episode of this show and this video brought tears to my eyes. Wow. I have nothing more to say.

  • omg the tears i had for this ending! what a show! i will miss it!

  • can u put lyrics up?

  • can you google?

  • Best drama ever televised....best ending ever....period.

  • Without a doubt the greatest ending to any television series ever.
